Chapter 143 Knight the Black Dog Reappears

Chapter 143 Knight the Black Dog Reappears

Everyone had a great time at Harry's birthday party.

George and Fred also brought their newly developed prank products to the party.

Wood, the former captain who had graduated and signed with Pudmeer United, was the first to fall for the trick. He unsuspectingly ate a large, round toffee, and two seconds later, his tongue stretched out to more than three feet long, causing everyone around him to burst into laughter.

Meanwhile, a type of pyrotechnic product called a decoy bomb flew around the room, creating a dazzling effect with red flashes and golden smoke.

If someone tries to cast a stop or vanish spell on this decoy bomb, it won't stop flying; instead, it will split into two cannons—that's pretty cool.

The twins' fun little gadgets added a lot of joy to the party and were very well received, giving them great confidence in selling the new products after the start of the school year.

After the party, Sirius warmly invited Lyra, Hermione, and the Weasley children to stay overnight. Sirius and Harry's new home was spacious, with plenty of empty rooms besides their roommate Remus Lupin, enough to accommodate all of Harry's good friends.

But they both declined, because they had promised Mrs. Weasley they would be back at the Burrow before dark, and Lyra and Hermione's luggage was still in Ginny's room.

Of course, the fact that no one in Sirius's family knows how to cook is also a major reason for their refusal. According to Harry, the three boys in his family have been eating takeout pizza and sandwiches for a week straight.

But before long, everyone abandoned Mrs. Weasley's delicious food and fled to Sirius's house.

Ron and Hermione were the first to act, lying that they needed to work with Harry's group on some summer homework, and dashed off to Red Roof House. (Sirius and Harry's new home was located in a valley near Hogsmeade, with a beautiful red roof.)

“Mom always has a stern face and takes every opportunity to nag Fred and George, as if hoping to change their minds about opening a shop and get them back on the right track through her nagging—” Ron complained.

Next to escape were Lyra, Fred, and George.

Lyra said that Hermione was the only girl at Red Peak and she felt lonely, so she went to keep Hermione company. However, less than a few minutes after Lyra left the Burrow, the twins claimed that Lyra had forgotten her coat. Using the excuse of returning the coat, they took their luggage and never returned to the Burrow.

“We figured that if she kept seeing the report card, she would keep thinking about it, and after a while, she would forget about it,” Fred said.

“And Mom has always used Percy as a role model to educate us. If this continues, we might not be able to resist killing Percy before school starts,” George added, “and burying his bones forever in the Ministry of Magic’s office.”

Finally, Ginny came to Red Peak Lodge, using the excuse that she wanted to learn French from Leila.

“You’re all gone, so Mom can only harass me. That’s so unfair,” Ginny rolled her eyes. “And as soon as Percy sees me, he tells me not to be influenced by Fred and George at school and to take my more reliable brother as a role model.”

At this point, all the Weasley family's underage wizards had gone to Red Roof. Harry, Sirius, and Remus, while feeling somewhat apologetic to Mrs. Weasley, all warmly welcomed them.

Since Leila moved in, owls have been constantly coming and going from Redcaps Lodge.

This made Sirius Black more acutely aware of the explosive popularity of dark-haired girls.

Sirius found it hard to convince himself that the owls carrying love letters and gifts weren't sent by boys.

In particular, the letter from Cedric Diggory, the perfect boy from Hufflepuff, aroused collective dissatisfaction among the boys of Red Peak Lodge.

Cedric Diggory is the captain and Seeker of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. His tall and muscular frame, spinning in the air on his flying broom, and his handsome face can elicit screams from girls, not to mention that he is also one of the best students.

“He’s also a prefect of Hufflepuff!” Hermione added.

"Percy's a prefect too, so why don't you all fawn over him like that?" Ron said sarcastically. "You're only doing it because he's a pretty boy—"

Professor Lupin had once taught Cedric Diggory. Objectively speaking, he was indeed a rare and outstanding Hufflepuff, but he smiled and remained silent as he looked at the sullen boys in his house.

“Sed wrote to me to share his OWL results. He said he almost didn’t get an O in Potions. Luckily, the examiner wasn’t Professor Snape. During the exam, the flame accidentally went out for a few seconds…” Lyra shared with the girls with a smile.

While the boys appeared to be playing cards or maintaining brooms, they were all actually listening intently.

"So how many Os did he get?" Hermione asked the question that concerned her the most.

“Twelve,” Lyra replied. “Yesterday Dexter, oh, that’s my friend from Ravenclaw, he also got twelve Os. I wonder which one of them will be the student council president in our ***—”

Hearing that these annoying boys had all drawn a dozen Os, Fred and George frowned and slammed their cards down with a loud cracking sound.

"So which one do you like?" Ginny giggled, asking the question she was most curious about. "Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff?"

“Gryffindor, of course!” Fred yelled. “What’s so great about pretty boys and nerds—”

“Dude, all your best friends are on the Gryffindor team,” George emphasized the word “best friends,” his tone extremely serious. “It’s a matter of principle, no discussion.”

Harry nodded in agreement. He and Ron thought the reason was quite valid; their dissatisfaction with these boys wasn't due to the "ridiculous jealousy" that the girls believed.

Sirius also took the lead, and when he saw the brown owl who came most frequently with a silver-green gift that was clearly in the Slytherin style, he changed the style of the living room that very night to Gryffindor's signature gold and red.

Remus Lupin has recently been feeling increasingly helpless, often rubbing his forehead in frustration, towards his seemingly immature old friend.

After Lyra moved into Red Peak Lodge, Sirius tried various opportunities to chat with the dark-haired girl, but he couldn't figure out how to confess to her that he was the black dog Knight from back then.

During a casual conversation, Lyra mentioned that she had once fed a lovely big black dog in the Forbidden Forest at Hogwarts.

But then the dog mysteriously disappeared, which made her very worried and sad. For some reason, Sirius transformed into Animagus again.

Knight, the black dog, has returned to Lyra's life.
