Chapter 154 The Arrival of Distinguished Guests

Chapter 154 The Arrival of Distinguished Guests

People heard early in the morning that two girls from Hufflepuff had been admitted to the school hospital.

“Poor Heloise and Alice—” Arya told the Gryffindor girls, having heard the news from her Hufflepuff boyfriend.

"They wanted to use the pus from the Babo tuber to get rid of the stubborn acne on their faces. The Midggan sisters both have acne-prone skin."

"I heard their noses were burned off by the pus from the Babo tuber—" Lyra had also heard this from the Hufflepuff girls' group she knew. "Hopefully, Madam Pomfrey can heal them, after all, the VIPs are arriving tonight."

It's no exaggeration to describe the guests from the two foreign schools as VIPs.

A week ago, a thorough cleaning began in the castle. All the portraits hanging on the walls were forcibly removed.

One day, Lyra passed by the third-floor corridor and saw a little old man with a beard wailing loudly because Filch had scrubbed his originally dark face until the flesh was pink and tender.

The old man felt this undermined his authority. The other portraits huddled together, sullenly complaining about the purge; in their eyes, cleaning the canvases was no different from mass slaughter.

Every inch of the castle floor tiles was spotless, including the armor that had been neglected for years. All of them had been cleaned and oiled, and no longer made any creaking noises when moved around.

Professors have become stricter with students, and even the slightest violation of rules, or laziness or failure in academics, can result in severe criticism.

Professor McGonagall sarcastically pleaded with everyone in class not to reveal their true abilities to people from other schools, lest the guests think that Hogwarts students' Transfiguration skills were only a teaspoonful.

Even the most mild-mannered Professor Sprout began criticizing his students: "You are simply the worst class I've ever taught—"

Not to mention Professor Snape, who was already terrifying.

In every Potions class, he would menacingly threaten everyone that if they couldn't learn the potion for that class, he would poison them to death to avoid losing face in front of other schools—every time, everyone was terrified, thinking they wouldn't survive that Potions class.

Lyra also noticed that Professor Snape seemed to have a deep conflict with Professor Moody, who had just arrived this semester.

Professor Moody is the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor this semester. According to Fred and George, Mad-Eye Moody was once a notorious Auror, similar to a Muggle policeman, who was in charge of arresting dark wizards and sending them to Azkaban.

It is said that at least half of the Slytherin students have family members or friends who were imprisoned in Azkaban by Moody. Judging from the Slytherin students' attitude towards Professor Moody, this rumor is likely true.

Professor Moody's reputation in Defense Against the Dark Arts class is completely polarized: some students, such as some of the Gryffindor boys, the twins, and Lee Jordan, believe that he is truly capable and knows how to fight against the Dark Arts.

Some students, such as some Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw students, thought he was confused and cruel because he demonstrated or even cast the Unforgivable Curse in class, which is illegal!

Harry had been subjected to the Imperius Curse by Professor Moody, which made Hermione very uneasy, but Ron thought it was a sign of his high regard and affection for Harry.

Professor Moody was even more ruthless towards Slytherin students; his attack spells broke two ribs in several seventh-year Slytherin boys. He also once publicly transformed the Malfoy family's only son into a ferret and tortured him repeatedly, fortunately Professor McGonagall discovered it in time.

Rumors circulated that Moody was particularly ruthless towards Slytherins because he believed they were all dark wizards, including Headmaster Snape.

Professor Snape angrily confronted Headmaster Dumbledore, who eventually spoke with Moody, which stopped Professor Moody from targeting Slytherin students.

Lyra only heard about Draco Malfoy being transformed into a weasel later. She wasn't there at the time, but it seems the incident started when Malfoy provoked Harry Ron, which was witnessed by Professor Moody.

This was the greatest humiliation of that proud pure-blooded young master's life.

From that day on, Harry and Ron would use this incident to mock Draco Malfoy whenever they saw him. One time, Lyra and the twins were walking past the fourth-year classroom after class when they witnessed the whole thing.

Draco Malfoy's grey-blue eyes were filled with humiliation and resentment. To make matters worse, before Lyra could turn away and avoid letting the platinum young master know that she had also heard his humiliating history, their eyes met.

Quickly, Lyra seemed to catch a glimpse of water, and the platinum-blonde-haired figure vanished before her eyes. From that moment on, Lyra never encountered him again in the castle, not even in the Great Hall or the Dining Room.

Lyra felt a pang of pity. To be publicly humiliated by the professor and mocked by his arch-enemy was probably worse than death for a young master who valued his reputation.

Perhaps she could do something to comfort the poor platinum-haired boy, Lyra thought.

However, the arrival of foreign dignitaries is more likely to attract everyone's attention.

As evening fell, all the teachers and students of Hogwarts stood at the entrance to welcome the guests who had come from afar.

"Is my hair okay?"

"Did my lipstick smudge?"

Can you see that I'm wearing a new skirt under my school uniform?

The girls nervously checked each other, all thinking Professor McGonagall was too cruel. As the vice-principal, Professor McGonagall required everyone to wear the plain Hogwarts robes, instead of their own clothes, to greet guests.

Professor McGonagall also checks on the girls for any inappropriate behavior—for example, just now, she made a pretty Gryffindor girl take off "that ridiculous thing," a huge bow, from her head.

Fortunately, the guests arrived before Professor McGonagall asked all the girls to remove their jewelry.

Beauxbatons and Durmstrang's unique entrance left a deep impression on all the students of Hogwarts—

One arrived from the bottom of the Black Lake in a giant ship, while the other was slowly descending from the sky in a carriage pulled by flying horses.

Durmstrang's students all wore fur cloaks and looked incredibly imposing.

The Beauxbatons must have come from a very warm place, because they were all wearing silk robes.

But what surprised everyone the most was Krum, who was actually Durmstrang's student representative!
