Chapter 155 The Confidence of Gamers
Chapter 155 The Confidence of Gamers
Lyra, Angelina, and Arya walked back to the Gryffindor table with great excitement, glancing expectantly at Durmstrang's group along the way, hoping they would choose to dine at the Gryffindor table.
Ron was even more excited than Lyra and the others. When he saw Krum, he desperately wanted the autograph of this amazing talent. At the same time, a silver-haired beauty from Beauxbatons also caught his eye. It was hard to say which school's guest Ron would prefer to sit at the Gryffindor table if he had to vote.
“Harry, she must be a Veela—” Ron stared fascinated at her silver hair and large, bright blue eyes.
Harry laughed, while Ron acted as if he'd never seen a female classmate before.
Hermione, standing to the side, rolled her eyes so hard they almost reached the ceiling.
“Merlin testifies that she was just a pretty, ordinary girl!” Hermione said sharply. “I don’t think anyone else was staring at her like an idiot!”
In fact, many boys couldn't help but turn to look at the silver-haired French witch, and their reactions were no better than Ron's.
“Dude, there are lots of pretty girls at Hogwarts too,” Harry said, glancing at Lyra across from him. “Your reaction is way over the top.”
“Yes, Lyra is beautiful,” Ron knew his best friend’s thoughts, “which further proves the point; only Veelas can have that kind of allure—”
Hermione was no longer willing to join in the conversation between her two male friends, and she angrily ladled some French fish soup into her bowl.
Ron was destined to be disappointed as the Beauxbatons students sat at the Ravenclaw table, and Lyra and her roommates were equally disappointed as the Durmstrang students chose the Slytherin table.
Fortunately, tonight, to entertain our guests, the table was filled with many foreign delicacies that we don't usually have. The French macarons and soufflés were especially delicious, and many of the girls couldn't resist taking a second serving.
"I can't believe it! With French desserts being so delicious," Leila exclaimed, "how can those French witches still maintain such great figures!"
Angelina and Aria agreed with Leila while serving themselves more French milk pudding.
After that, they kept discussing how to get Krum's autograph. Angelina and Arya also went to watch the World Cup. At the same time, they were both on the Quidditch team, and when facing their idol stars, they were no more rational than Lyra.
Fred and George initially liked Krum quite a bit, but seeing their good friend and female teammates so infatuated with him, the talented German star immediately became repulsive.
“Besides, he’s one of our future competitors!” Fred said righteously.
The twins never gave up on their plan to become Hogwarts champions.
After dinner, Headmaster Dumbledore introduced the two guests from the Ministry of Magic who had come to the school to observe the competition: Mr. Crouch, Director of International Cooperation, and Mr. Bagman, Director of Sport.
Fred and George stared intently at Mr. Bagman on the teachers' table. Lyra noticed that when Mr. Bagman waved to the students, his gaze clearly fell on the twins at the Gryffindor table, but he quickly turned his face away, pretending not to see them.
Leila's heart sank. She had a feeling that Mr. Bagman, the renowned Director of Sports, might not be simply too busy to reply to them, as the twins believed.
Fred and George won over a thousand Galleons from their bets, a sum of money that exceeded the prize money for the Triwizard Tournament!
"...The absolutely impartial selector responsible for choosing warriors is the Goblet of Fire—"
Dumbledore's introduction brought Lyra back to her senses.
Headmaster Dumbledore pulled out his wand and tapped it three times on a box. After a series of creaking sounds, a large wooden goblet was revealed.
The cup itself is ordinary; what is unusual is that blue and white flames dance inside.
The principal raised the Goblet of Fire high so that everyone could see it clearly.
"...Write your name and school on a piece of parchment and throw it into the Goblet of Fire. Tomorrow night, the Goblet of Fire will select the warriors from the three schools...I will also draw an age line around the Goblet of Fire, and anyone under the age of seventeen will not be able to cross this age line."
But Dumbledore's warning could not extinguish the twins' gleaming eagerness.
“Just as Hermione said, it’s an alchemical product,” Fred said. “Fantastic! A cup can’t tell if someone is seventeen or not!”
The next morning, Lyra, Fred, and George each took a bottle of aging potion and headed towards the Goblet of Fire in the Great Hall.
Many students followed them, some to watch the excitement, and others to sign up with them.
Hermione was still desperately trying to persuade Lyra to give up the idea of signing up.
“Lyra, the headmaster’s age limit is justified; the death rate in every Triwizard Tournament is very high,” Hermione said anxiously, her words flowing rapidly. “Students below seventh grade certainly don’t have the necessary knowledge to handle this dangerous and brutal competition—”
Hermione was genuinely worried about Lyra's safety, but what she didn't know was that Lyra wasn't afraid of death at all, because gamers didn't need to consider the mortality rate.
Lyra was initially indifferent to becoming a warrior, but Fred and George's strong desire to participate spurred her on. And who knows, after the Goblet of Fire chooses a warrior from the twins, it might also select her as a gamer; in dangerous moments, the fearless Lyra could even shield her friends from harm.
Blindly confident, gamer Lyra completely ignored what the principal said last night about each school only being allowed one warrior!
Moreover, Lyra and the twins confidently ignored the other outstanding students at Hogwarts, leaving the system speechless.
Unfortunately, the system has automatically gone into hibernation after Lyra had been slacking off and not choosing any romance options for a long time.
Fred and George each drank a drop of the anti-aging serum, and Lee Jordan took the bottle from Fred and drank some as well.
"Does anyone else need it?" George waved the anti-aging serum in his hand. "I have some left."
But many people are still observing, and they plan to see how well the previous few people perform.
Despite Hermione's disapproving look, Lyra also took a sip of the anti-aging potion, then lined up behind Lee Jordan and held up the parchment with her name on it.
“I don’t think you’ll succeed,” Hermione was convinced Headmaster Dumbledore had considered this. “The age limit might make you immune to the potion’s effects—”
But Fred and George, who were standing at the front, couldn't wait to throw the parchment into the Goblet of Fire.
