Chapter 83 Never Use Physical Persuasion
It must have been around lunchtime when Selwyn and his colleagues received the news from Diagon Alley. Even with their not-so-bright minds, they could understand how much of an impact this new thing would have on their owl business, and they were furious about it.
Suddenly, they discovered that an uninvited guest had visited the old house.
The middle-aged wizard couldn't understand how things had developed to this point. He even struggled to comprehend it when he first saw Ryan Wales.
They naively believed that Ryan had come to apologize because he was worried that they would suppress the communicator he had just developed.
He recalled what had just happened and felt immense regret.
As soon as Ryan appeared, one of his cousins, who was now lying on the ground, shouted, "It's you! Ryan Wales!"
We were being merciful and let you go, yet you dared to be so reckless as to trespass on private property!
In their eyes, they were only giving face to Dumbledore, that old relic; otherwise, they would have already taken down Lane.
Of course, at that time they never considered the difference in strength. "He's just a minor wizard," everyone thought.
Ryan didn't answer, but sat down on the sofa and said, "Please forgive my intrusion. I'm here because of a possible misunderstanding between the Owl Post Office and the communicator."
"It's not possible, it's certain, kid! The Selwyn family will definitely make you kneel on the ground and beg for mercy!" The middle-aged witch, who was Vio's aunt by seniority, spoke, her voice and tone as unappealing as her appearance.
"Looks like there's no room for negotiation?" Ryan shook his head, looking very disappointed. "Negotiation? Who do you think you are! You dare to negotiate with the Selwyn family! Hand over everything about your communicator, and we might leave you a Galleon!" The middle-aged wizard himself didn't think he was wrong.
After all, what power in the British magical world could possibly stop purebloods?
The protector of Muggles, Dumbledore?
The old man was unwilling to leave Hogwarts, clearly because he was too old and no longer possessed his former magical abilities, relying entirely on his reputation to keep going!
Dumbledore is just a paper tiger now, nothing to be afraid of!
"Hahaha, Heartbreaker!" The middle-aged witch, Vio's aunt, laughed loudly, then suddenly sprang up and unleashed an Unforgivable Curse with her wand.
Then something happened that the middle-aged wizard couldn't understand.
Suddenly, Ryan flashed and disappeared from the sofa, which, after being struck by the Cruciatus Curse, shattered into pieces, sending wood chips and dust flying everywhere.
The next second, Ryan appeared in front of the three of them and slapped them hard across the face, hitting one of them with each flash.
But that's impossible! The three stunned people took a while to realize that there was an anti-apparition spell in place, so wizards couldn't apparite here!
This is not over yet.
After slapping several people across the face, Ryan returned to the broken sofa. Without him making any move, the sofa was instantly restored to its original state.
After he sat down, he muttered to himself, "Oh no, I promised Dumbledore I wouldn't use physical means to persuade him."
The middle-aged wizard even saw that Ryan's face was full of apology as he sincerely apologized to the three of them: "I'm sorry, you three seem too annoying. I accidentally used physical means to communicate. I will definitely be more careful next time."
This sentence completely ignited the three men's anger. They made sounds that even they couldn't understand, but the gist of it was a friendly greeting about Ryan's family tree, and then they drew their wands and attacked like vicious dogs.
But for middle-aged people to truly calm down and realize that the fear has only just begun.
His younger brother was taken down by Ryan the moment they met, and he didn't even know what fear was.
His cousin, Vio's aunt, discovered that none of her spells could get within three meters of Ryan. This woman, whose looks were the complete opposite of Vio's, roared, "What kind of magic is this?!"
Just as the middle-aged wizard was about to remind his cousin, he noticed Ryan muttering to himself, "This place can't be damaged, or Vio will make me pay for it."
Then he saw Ryan raise his hand and press it down.
There were no spellcasting actions or incantations whatsoever. The middle-aged wizard felt a sudden dizziness, as if the magic in the air was repelling him.
The next second, a terrifying tremor knocked his cousin unconscious, and he himself was only able to stay conscious because he was carrying a powerful magical artifact.
But the room was perfectly fine, without any damage!
If he still had the strength to scream, he would have let out the loudest scream ever, like finding half a worm while eating fruit.
But under that terrifying shock, he had no strength to scream and could only roll on the ground, even smashing and breaking many things in his panic.
He didn't say it until he came to his senses that he wanted to talk to Ryan.
"I don't understand what you're saying. I've already reached an agreement with the Selwyn family, and the noble chief agrees with my view," Ryan said.
The patriarch agreed with him, but what did this all mean? The middle-aged wizard, whose mind was still a bit foggy, didn't understand, because the patriarch of the Selwyn family was currently studying in Azkaban.
"It seems you still don't understand. I need to help you understand." Seeing this, Ryan drew his wand and tapped the two unconscious people, who gradually woke up.
Before the middle-aged wizard could ask why, the violent tremor came again in the next second.
This time, all three of them fell heavily to the ground, unconscious. "Is this the effect of directly acting on magic itself after eliminating all aids such as spells, wands, and magic circles—?"
Ryan shook the three of them awake again and continued experimenting with his understanding of magic.
This happened only five or six times before the middle-aged wizard, waking up again, gasped for breath, "Please wait a moment, esteemed Mr. Wells."
This turned into "Respected Mr. Wells." Lane lowered his hand, feeling that these people were too spineless.
"Is there anything you wish to say? If not, we can continue. I have an appointment for dinner, so there's no rush." He smiled.
To the three men who had been repeatedly knocked unconscious and shaken awake, this smile was nothing short of the monstrous face of a demon from the deepest depths of hell.
"We've figured it out! I've always felt that Vio is an indispensable talent for the Selwyn family, and he will definitely be able to lead the Selwyn family to its peak!" The middle-aged wizard, having caught his breath, spoke very quickly, afraid that Ryan would lose his temper and knock them unconscious again.
"Finally, they're getting the hang of it. They're all smart people. Not as stupid as Vio made them out to be"—Lane listened, nodding emphatically, giving the middle-aged wizard clear feedback.
Having received feedback, the middle-aged wizard solidified his resolve and said through gritted teeth, "We have unanimously decided to elect Vio as the new patriarch of the Selwyn family!"
Upon hearing this, Ryan immediately stood up, put on a guilty expression, and strode over to the three men, helping them up one by one, repeatedly saying, "It's all a misunderstanding, all a misunderstanding. I am like a brother to the noble chief. I unintentionally hurt you all today. I will definitely apologize to the noble chief at the banquet."
What's the difference between this and forcing someone to be a friend at knifepoint? The middle-aged wizard felt his blood rushing to his head, his chest feeling heavy, as if he were about to lose his breath.
Two thuds came from the side, and the other two people had already fallen to the ground and were not getting up. Judging from their appearance, it seemed that they had been suffering from pent-up anger.
