Chapter 604 - 575: Warmth
Chapter 604 - 575: Warmth
A cheating husband, offending the in-laws, and a son with his own family now; although Sylvia Langley didn’t divorce Zane Forrester, and is still the Forrester Family’s daughter-in-law on the surface, many things are ultimately different now.At this moment, Sienna Thornton felt a bit sorry for her.
The past grievances had been diluted by the passage of time, the harmonious interactions over the past two or three years, and Sylvia’s many times of protection. Sienna, being the kind and generous person she is, no longer holds a grudge against Sylvia Langley.
She gently hugged Sylvia Langley, lightly patting her back to comfort her: "You are Cyrus’s mom, you’re my child’s grandma. No matter what, Cyrus and I will always respect you. If you don’t feel comfortable living at the old house when you return to the country, you can move to Fenmore Hill with us. Don’t worry that I will overthink or mind, I won’t, because Cyrus and I are of the same heart."
Because Simon Forrester is a person who understands reason; if someone needs to be scolded, he definitely won’t hold back, and if someone needs protection, he will absolutely defend them to the end.
Sienna Thornton knew that as long as Simon Forrester was around, even if Sylvia Langley had conflicts with her in the future, they should be quickly resolved.
She was just about to let go of Sylvia Langley when Sylvia suddenly hugged her tightly, then leaned against her neck, weeping softly, crying so sadly that Sienna’s eyes turned red too.
She gently patted Sylvia’s back, softly comforting her in a voice only the two of them could hear.
Not far away, Simon Forrester had just spread white chrysanthemums around the family grave and looked over at the gazebo, seeing Sylvia Langley embraced with Sienna Thornton. At first, he was a bit surprised, but after a few seconds, the corners of his lips lifted slightly.
He thought of the time when Sylvia was slapped by Zane Forrester; that night she stayed at their apartment, wore Sienna’s pajamas, used Sienna’s skincare and makeup products, and suddenly the relationship with Sienna became more harmonious. From that point on, their relationship made significant progress.
Relationships between women are really baffling.
...
By late morning, the cemetery visit was over. The relatives from the hometown suggested eating some farm-style dishes locally before returning to the city. Simon, seeing Sylvia Langley lack interest and considering Sienna Thornton’s pregnancy making eating outside risky, plus Zane Forrester being quite embarrassing himself, didn’t agree.
He took Sylvia Langley and Sienna Thornton to get the car. As they approached the parking lot, he turned to look at Zane, walking behind with Old Master Forrester and Grandma Forrester, and asked Sylvia, "Would you like to go yourself or go with my dad?"
Sylvia Langley didn’t even look at Zane: "I’ll go by myself, directly back to the hotel to join your uncles."
Sienna Thornton asked, "Are you going back to the South?"
Sylvia nodded: "It’s more comfortable there. Honestly, if it weren’t for you guys here, I really wouldn’t want to come back to this city; there’s hardly any emotion here now, especially with everything like this."
Simon didn’t force her: "Alright, have a good rest when you’re back, and call me if there’s anything."
The three walked a little further and got into their respective cars.
Sienna Thornton was strapping on her seatbelt when someone suddenly tapped on her window. She glanced over; it was Sylvia, and she hurriedly rolled down the window.
Sylvia handed over a document envelope and a thermos bottle: "These are the documents his father signed, concerning the transfer of all his shares in Forrester’s overseas and domestic businesses to Cyrus for free. You should find someone to handle the paperwork quickly and get the shares transferred to Cyrus soon."
Simon was about to speak, but Sylvia interjected, "Listen!"
Simon said nothing further, probably intending to discuss it privately with Sienna Thornton later.
He nodded and reminded Sylvia, "Drive safely."
As the car started, Sienna suddenly realized she was still holding a thermos bottle and quickly asked, "Mom, what’s this?"
Sylvia was already heading back to her car. Upon hearing the question, she returned and smiled, "It’s bird’s nest soup I brewed before leaving this morning, for you to eat." She glanced around the cemetery, "There’s nothing good to eat in this wilderness, and it takes over an hour to return to the city, so have some, or your stomach will growl."
After saying that, she went back to her own car without giving Sienna a chance to respond. Her movements were even quicker than Simon’s, and the Beijing-plated white BMW zipped out of sight with four sixes on its plate.
Sienna withdrew her gaze, smiling as she opened the thermos. Inside was red date bird’s nest soup.
The Lamborghini bull supercar drove out of the cemetery parking lot, merging into the traffic of Linden.
Driving, Simon glanced over and smiled, asking, "What’s that?"
"Red date bird’s nest soup; do you want some?"
Simon shook his head, and after a moment added, "Bird’s nest is good for you; eat more so our daughter will have fair and tender skin."
Recalling how since her pregnancy, Simon had stocked up on premium bird’s nests at home and every morning there was a bowl waiting for her, Sienna felt both happy and grateful.
She obediently responded with a "Okay," picking up the spoon provided with the thermos to start eating the bird’s nest soup.
The bird’s nest was sweet and clean, almost transparent.
After soaking, the bird’s nest needed to be plucked of tiny feathers, and then simmered slowly. Despite being in a most difficult and painful time, Sylvia could remember to bring bird’s nest for her, and Sienna believed Sylvia was thinking of her daughter-in-law when carefully cleaning the bird’s nest.
The bird’s nest was sweet, soft, warm, and it warmed her heart.
...
Returning to Brimfield a little before one o’clock, Simon originally planned to take Sienna to The Imperial Court Club to eat, but since she wanted to visit her maternal home, they went to Melinda Linton’s place.
On entering the house, Melinda Linton and Quentin Thorne were just about to have lunch. Seeing them arrive suddenly made them very happy. Quentin hurried to open a bottle of red wine while Melinda bustled to add bowls and chopsticks.
Sienna took Simon’s coat to the room to change clothes, and Simon washed his hands, already out sharing a drink with Quentin.
She came out just as they were discussing returning home to pay respects to their ancestors the next day. Somehow, the conversation shifted to the unborn baby in Sienna’s belly.
They were also discussing the matter from the previous year when Sienna changed her surname for the family register.
Quentin seriously suggested, "If Annie’s this time bears a girl, I suggest her surname be ’Thorne,’ so if the next child is a boy, his surname ’Forrester’ would be appropriate."
Simon didn’t object, initially saying, "I have no opinion," and then adding, "It’s all up to Annie."
Sienna realized his aim and gave him a playful glare.
He clearly knew she wouldn’t be comfortable pushing for the Forrester Family’s first great-grandchild to have the last name ’Thorne,’ so he dumped the task on her to convince Quentin, so he wouldn’t have to offend his father-in-law.
Hmph, sneaky and cunning!
Sienna took a sip of soup to moisten her throat and said, "Dad, we’ll consider these things when the child is born, it’s too early to decide now."
"But as soon as you have the baby and are discharged, the birth certificate with the child’s name will be settled! How is it early?"
"Then we’ll think about it during those few days in the hospital!"
"It’s troublesome to choose a name; a few days won’t be enough."
"How could it be? The name you picked for Mina seemed pretty casual, not like a troublesome one."
Now, Quentin had nothing to say.
The atmosphere suddenly became quiet and awkward.
