Chapter 149 Crazy, crazy
The voice coming from the submarine was arrogant yet intimidating.
Blake looked at the submarine calmly, as if admiring an interesting exhibit.
"Dr. Fran? I've never heard of that name before."
"However, at this time, sailing to this area in a special ship, it's really hard to say it's purely a coincidence..."
Despite these thoughts, Blake had no intention of stopping.
When has the world government ever been afraid? Of course they'll move their ship closer!
Are they also looking for pure gold?
Isn't that perfect?
After all, Blake only knew one coordinate, which was even a week ago. Who knows where that lanternfish has gone now?
The submarine on the other side most likely doesn't have gang members spread throughout the West Sea as informants.
Then the problem comes again.
How did this guy find this area of the sea?
The only plausible explanation Blake could think of was that the guy in front of him, who called himself Dr. Fran, could pinpoint the location of pure gold to some extent by analyzing legends and using some kind of technology.
Just as Blake was pondering this, the submarine's loudspeaker blared again, its tone even more aggressive:
"This is a private scientific research area!"
You have thirty seconds to take action!
"Failure to turn around will be considered an act of hostility!"
A sneer appeared on Blake's lips.
Among those who encountered him on the high seas, the only ones who not only didn't run away but dared to charge at him were the Hyena Pirates he met in the North Sea.
The Dr. Fran in front of us is the second one.
I have to say, he was really brave.
Black's Observation Haki had penetrated the submarine's hull, allowing him to see the middle-aged man with bushy green hair standing in front of the control panel.
Seeing that Blake did not react, the slaves on the ship naturally did not dare to stop what they were doing.
The massive hull of the Temple continued forward without hesitation, responding to the warning with the most direct action.
This action thoroughly enraged Dr. Fran in the submarine:
"A bunch of idiots!"
"Activate signal jamming! I'll make them deaf and blind!"
With his angry rebuke, all the Den Den Mushi on the Temple fell silent instantly.
Even the white Den Den Mushi in Blake's arms drooped its head, looking as if it had burned out.
"Scavenger program activated!"
With Dr. Fran giving another order, three robots equipped with rotating blades surged out of the submarine, cutting through the water as they attacked the Temple.
Blake chuckled and muttered to himself:
"They're making it sound like something real."
Just as the robot was deployed, Dr. Fran seemed to have confirmed something through high-magnification observation equipment.
His voice, filled with rage, suddenly calmed down, replaced by a mocking tone of interest:
"So it's a World Government ship. No wonder they have such audacity."
He snorted coldly:
"Don't think that just because you're from the World Government, I'll let you off the hook!"
"My technology is invincible!"
Goodness, there's such a huge World Government logo on the sail, and you didn't even recognize it?
Blake was speechless; he had thought this guy was a hidden big shot.
Judging from that look in his eyes, he's probably a narrow-minded person.
But Blake didn't care who Dr. Fran was, as long as the other party had a way to find pure gold.
"Your Highness! Let me do it!"
Having just gained her powers, Marigold came to Black's side, looking eager to try them out.
Blake responded indifferently:
"Okay, then I'll leave it to you."
"Yes! Your Highness!"
Marigold faced the sea and took a deep breath:
She swung her fists, and thin, fiery snakes flew out from them.
It transformed into a blazing pillar of fire in mid-air, roaring as it hurtled towards the three robots.
A hash symbol appeared on Blake's forehead.
What? You're fixated on snakes, aren't you?
He was very glad that he had given Marigold the Flame-Flame Fruit in time, otherwise he might have ended up back on the original story's trajectory one day.
However, just as the attack landed, a pale blue energy barrier appeared out of thin air on the submarine, blocking all the incoming flames.
"Huh? This professor's got some skills..."
"Hahahaha..."
Seeing that Marigold's attack was blocked, Dr. Fran couldn't help but burst into laughter:
"it's useless!"
His laughter was tinged with fervor, filled with the exhilarating feeling of being in complete control.
"see it?"
"Your Devil Fruits, which you are so proud of, are nothing compared to my technology."
His barrier completely withstood the attack, which definitively proved Dr. Fran's theory.
His technological prowess is fully capable of rivaling, or even suppressing, the world's top powers.
He firmly believed this.
Since even this level of power cannot break through his defenses, then there is no one in this world who can threaten him.
Before this, the strongest person Dr. Fran had ever seen was about the same as Marigold now.
Due to his limited knowledge, he had no idea what kind of destructive power the world's top experts possessed.
In Dr. Fran's view, the people in the World Government were nothing but a bunch of useless trash.
His wisdom was enough to bury them all in this unknown sea.
Beep...beep...beep...
A series of continuous alarms suddenly sounded in the submarine.
On the control panel in front of Dr. Fran, a red light, noticeably larger than usual, was prominently displayed and was now flashing at an unprecedented frequency.
Almost simultaneously, an incredibly strong signal source was clearly locked onto the screen.
"Hahaha... Hahahaha..."
Dr. Fran was taken aback at first, then let out a low laugh, which turned into uncontrollable maniacal laughter.
He slammed his hand on the control panel:
"Success! My detector has finally succeeded!"
Overwhelmed with elation and a sense of certainty of victory, he completely ignored his current circumstances:
"You bunch of idiots! You almost ruined my plans!"
He yelled into the microphone, his voice distorted with excitement:
"Twenty years! Do you know how I've spent those twenty years?!"
The alarms from the control panel mingled with his excited voice.
Dr. Fran stared intently at the signal, as if declaring his victory to the entire ocean:
"Back when I found Mischina Asiye's manuscript in that old pirate's dilapidated warehouse, you guys were still playing in the mud!"
"From those fragmented legends to the energy map I drew myself..."
"Do you know what this means?"
His voice trembled with excitement, yet carried an undeniable authority:
"Pure gold that can stop time!"
"Everyone said I was crazy! But look at me now?!"
"It looks even more like it now..."
Chapter 150 Mental collapse
Everyone on the Temple looked in the direction from which the sound came, and couldn't help but twitch their lips slightly.
Perona shrank back, pretending nothing had happened.
Dr. Fran's submarine was clearly equipped with highly sensitive listening equipment, which clearly picked up the remark.
The fervent speech coming from the loudspeaker came to an abrupt halt.
Perona's words completely disrupted his emotional flow.
At the control panel, Dr. Fran's face was flushed with extreme anger, completely shattering the carefully crafted atmosphere of his announcement.
"Scavengers! Take them down!"
He roared into the communicator.
The three robots, which had temporarily stopped due to Dr. Fran's excitement, once again cut through the waves and roared in.
Faced with this scene, Blake finally spoke again, his tone still calm, but his voice clearly pierced through the sea breeze:
There's only one reason I'm listening to your nonsense—
“I don’t think your presence in this area is accidental, so we need to confirm whether you really have the technology to track pure gold.”
"Now that it has been confirmed..."
"There's no need to waste any more time."
He glanced at the three attacking robots:
"Hancock! Kalifa! Tear these pieces of junk apart!"
Kalifa took a step forward, and her entire right arm instantly transformed into churning, scorching lava.
With her punch, a torrent of lava crashed onto the sea like an angry dragon!
?boom--!?
The scorching magma reacted violently with the icy seawater, sending steam billowing up and instantly engulfing and dissolving the two robots.
At the same time, Hancock's figure had already leaped into the air, and her slender right leg, carrying the power to shatter space, slashed down fiercely!
The third robot seemed to be crushed by an invisible force, turning into a smoking pile of scrap metal and sinking into the seabed.
Dr. Fran's prized energy shield couldn't even withstand a single attack from the two of them.
"No...impossible..."
Inside the submarine, Dr. Fran stared intently at the three signal feedback screens that had instantly dropped to zero, his pupils contracting in extreme shock.
