Chapter 36 Iron Fist
Chapter 36 Iron Fist
Otto stared intently at the person in front of him, who was over two and a half meters tall and had a burly build like a giant bear!
Although it was late autumn, the other person was only wearing a thin black vest and trousers.
His inverted triangle-shaped body was covered with taut muscles and scars, suggesting he had been through countless deadly battles.
But what's even more eye-catching is the other person's appearance.
He had an extremely short, blond buzz cut and a menacing old scar on his forehead and temples.
His entire face looked like steel that had been repeatedly hammered and forged by a craftsman, with sharp, distinct angles.
Upon noticing Otto's gaze, the man slowly turned his head and stared intently at him with his emerald green eyes.
But soon, upon realizing Micah's presence, the man's gaze softened, and he burst into laughter.
"Hey, isn't this Mr. Micah?"
Is this kid in the giant bear armor our new recruit?
As the man spoke, he revealed a mouthful of serrated teeth that gleamed coldly. Even with a smile on his face, the bloodstains made him look incredibly fierce and intimidating.
However, Micah seemed to be used to the other party's aura. He simply patted Otto's hand that was blocking his way and led him to the man's side.
"Goren, what's going on?"
Where's Tessa?
Clearly, he was quite puzzled by the man's blood-soaked appearance.
But the man Micah called Goren gave an awkward smile and scratched his head.
"Some members of the Rabbit Foot Squad betrayed them on their way back."
I happened to be closest to him, so I easily resolved the problem.
As for Tessa, she was also covered in blood and gore.
I just took her to the guild and handed her over to Ms. Eileen.
Upon hearing this, Micah immediately showed a look of annoyance and began to berate the Rabbit Foot Squad.
"That damn Frederick, he's always so unreliable!"
Micah sighed helplessly and simply told Goren to go back to the workshop to wash up first.
As for Otto, he naturally followed behind the two and entered the workshop together.
Just as they approached the man named Goren, the Magical Ape had already discovered his true nature.
[The Magic-Phantom Ape brings you information about Iron Fist.]
[Tier 1 - Extraordinary: Iron Fist (5/6)]
[Upon reaching the pinnacle of cultivation, it grants the user bonuses to strength, agility, and stamina.]
[Professional Combat Skill: Armor-Piercing Fist]
[Effect: When a user strikes protective gear or armor, their punching power will be significantly increased.]
[Class Trait: Iron Fist]
[Effect: The user can forge a certain metal into their fists.]
[Job Requirements: Those with expertise in boxing must knowingly throw a punch even when facing imminent death, yet still resolutely deliver the blow, killing their opponent in the process, pushing their physical limits, and completing the job while bathed in the blood of their enemies.]
The Magical Ape's assessment of this extraordinary profession is: the ideal profession for martial artists.
Looking at the information before him, Otto felt that this was simply an all-around upgraded version of the extraordinary profession of boxer.
However, judging solely from the job requirements, it is indeed very difficult to meet them.
After all, the condition for this extraordinary profession is being in a near-death state.
"In that case, it seems that the Iron Guards of the Fire Seed also have a similar situation."
Otto recalled that one of the requirements for becoming a Fireguard was that those who wished to serve must be bathed in flames.
This is also a rather dangerous ritual.
After comparing the job requirements of the Ironfist, the Fireborn Iron Guard, and the Archer Apprentice, Otto made a guess.
"To become a truly extraordinary person and gain great power, one must break through certain limits of mortals!"
The boundary between life and death is the environment where it is easiest to challenge one's limits.
Not only Iron Fist, but even the archer apprentices were like this.
Entrusting one's life to the choices of others is essentially a risky act.
"Perhaps I should look for some items that can resist fire damage."
Otto didn't know how long the inauguration ceremony would last, but since he had realized that the key to the inauguration lay in some kind of limit, or even a matter of life and death, he dared not be careless.
While investigating the flames possessing extraordinary power, Otto also needs to make thorough preparations.
While Otto was pondering this, the three of them had already returned to the backyard.
Goren let out a long sigh of relief and immediately relaxed.
He looked at Otto and once again revealed that somewhat eerie smile.
"Sorry, kid, I'm going to wash up first. I'll say hello to you later."
Goren wanted to pat Otto on the shoulder as a gesture of goodwill.
But seeing the blood on his hands, he gave up on the plan and went straight to his hut, intending to wash off the filth as soon as possible.
As for Micah, he was still cursing the Rabbit Foot Squad.
"That old middleman from Rabbit's Foot is really unreliable this time!"
Next time he comes to buy tools, be sure to raise the price significantly and help Goren get some of his compensation back!
Upon hearing this, Otto asked with some curiosity.
"Was the group purchase that Mr. Goren and Miss Tessa participated in initiated by the Rabbit Foot Squad?"
Otto remembered that Micah had once said that another veteran of the Dragon Slayer Blade had gone off to join adventurers' groups to make money, along with Erin's juniors.
Clearly, the old man was pointing at Goren.
Tessa should be Irene's priestess descendant.
Micah didn't hide anything from Otto, and explained it to him while disassembling his protective gear.
"The Rabbit Foot Squad is a very special team."
The squad has only one official member, the captain, Frederick.
Originally, the Rabbit Foot Squad was an adventurer squad with advanced certification, and Frederick was a guy with a good reputation around Oak Town.
However, during one adventure, almost the entire Rabbit Foot Squad was wiped out, with only Frederick surviving.
He changed after that.
Frederick had absolutely no intention of rebuilding the Rabbit Foot Squad.
Instead, they used the Rabbit Foot Squad's advanced certification to work as adventure brokers.
He was responsible for using his connections to secure high-paying commissions.
Then, some adventurers were gathered to complete the commission.
Since then, Rabbit Foot Squad has become a team specializing in group buying.
While there are many benefits, as for the risks, I think you've already seen them.
Otto naturally understood the risks that Micah was referring to.
The hastily assembled adventurer party had no bonds or trust; the only thing they could rely on was the weapon in their hands.
Otto probably thought that this was why a lot of trouble would arise, and that his companions turning against him was probably just something he had expected.
"For adventurers, only crazy people who crave battle, lone wolves who don't fit in, or teams like ours that are short of money will participate in group activities."
Normal people will only choose a trustworthy team to take risks with through reliable channels.
Micah patiently advised Otto to be careful when choosing his adventure partner.
However, Micah also took this opportunity to explain his subsequent plans.
"Now that Goren and Tessa are back, I'll get you used to them as soon as possible for the adventures to come."
