Chapter 120 Interview
Chapter 120 Interview
"I'm a literature major," Lu Xiuyang said, pushing up his glasses.
"Literature Department?" Chen Che and Xu Zhen's eyes lit up. They had only heard of this major before, but had never actually met anyone from it.
"What do you usually study in this major?" Xu Zhen asked with interest.
"Uh," Lu Xiuyang was taken aback, "it's about various ancient and modern literary appreciation, literary theory, writing and the like."
"Oh, so how did you choose this major? Was it assigned to you?" Xu Zhen continued to ask. It's quite rare for a boy to choose literature as his major.
The job market for liberal arts majors is already narrow, and literature is an area that is particularly hard hit. Basically, the only way to become a teacher is through civil service exams or other means, but unfortunately, this path is extremely competitive.
"This was my first choice, not something I was assigned to. I think science and engineering are all dry numbers, theories and processes, which are too boring. I find the romance and beauty in literature more interesting."
Lu Xiuyang explained, then pushed up his glasses and asked, "What does this have to do with me becoming the campus manager who orders fries?"
"Uh..." Xu Zhen was speechless for a moment, as if it really didn't matter, it was just his curiosity.
"Exactly, can't you ask something useful?" Chen Che glanced at him disdainfully, then asked with a motherly, loving look:
"How many girls are in your class? Oh, I should ask how many boys are in your class?"
Lu Xiuyang was taken aback, and subconsciously replied, "Just me and another boy."
Then it dawned on me that this probably had nothing to do with the campus manager, right?
"Wow, bro, you're having a blast, like you've entered a land of women!" Chen Che said, his tone tinged with envy.
Chen Che looked him over carefully again. Although he looked a bit dull with his glasses on, he was fair-skinned, gentle, tall and thin, which met the aesthetic standards of most girls. As long as he had the idea, there would be no problem with his priority in choosing a partner.
Chen Sui rolled her eyes at the two of them, speechless. These two were really birds of a feather, no wonder they could start a business together.
"You two, be normal, okay? They're here to consult about our startup project, not to chat with you two."
"So what? These are just personal details, there's nothing wrong with asking them," Chen Che retorted confidently from the side.
"Ugh, shut up," Chen Sui said, too lazy to pay attention to this guy who shared the same surname as her. After thinking for a moment, she asked Lu Xiuyang the most ordinary question: "Lu, why do you want to join our project?"
This is indeed a very simple question, but some people like to complicate simple questions and spout a bunch of plausible but meaningless nonsense.
Lu Xiuyang lowered his head and thought for a while. The others thought he was preparing his words and going to use his literary talent to write a long essay, but in the end he simply uttered a few words: "I want to make money."
Then, seeing the meaningful looks from Chen Sui and the others, she said somewhat awkwardly, "Wasn't that a bit too direct?"
"That's good," Chen Che nodded affirmatively. "Making money is the most primitive, direct, and pure motivation. I hate listening to those empty words, like 'connecting,' 'empowering,' 'closing the loop,' 'collaboration,' and 'aligning granularity'—these are all useless nonsense."
"Then why do you think we can make money?" After easing the tension a bit, Chen Che followed up on Chen Sui's question, his cheerful and carefree demeanor completely different from before.
Just like before, Lu Xiuyang didn't rush to answer. He paused to think carefully for a while before saying, "Two aspects."
"First, there is demand. Where there is demand, there is a market."
"Have you ever heard of Ele.me?" Lu Xiuyang suddenly asked.
Xu Zhen and Chen Sui looked at each other, not knowing what he was talking about.
But Chen Che understood perfectly well and nodded to signal him to continue.
"I have a friend who studies in Shanghai. He said that they don't eat in the cafeteria. They just order food on an app called Ele.me on their phones, and the food is delivered right to their dorm room. It's very convenient."
"It is said that this idea came to the founder of Ele.me when he was playing games late at night and got hungry. He didn't want to eat instant noodles but wanted a hot meal. However, it was the middle of the night, and he couldn't get through on the phone. Even if he did, people didn't want to deliver because it was too late."
Previously, the mainstream way to order takeout was to call the restaurant directly and have the staff run the errand. This method not only delayed the restaurant's work but also made it easy to order the wrong food, which was inefficient. Therefore, takeout was not very popular.
"The demand for snacks also exists. Some people may find it troublesome to buy them themselves, but it's a different story if someone can deliver them to their door."
Xu Zhen's eyes lit up, and he exclaimed with admiration, "Well said! Junior, did you have such in-depth considerations when you were making this platform? I never thought of that at all."
Chen Che suppressed a smile, telling Xu Zhen not to be so exaggerated, and then asked, "Is there anything else?"
"Another point is," Lu Xiuyang pondered for a moment, then continued, "that with the school's backing, you'll have a significant advantage in promoting your products within the school, allowing you to develop very quickly."
"How do you know?" Chen Che asked.
"Well, it's impossible for the school not to know that you want to occupy such a large space on campus for your startup project. The fact that you've been able to do it so smoothly must be due to the school's support, right?" Although Lu Xiuyang's tone wasn't very certain, what he said was basically correct.
Chen Che had already formed a basic impression of him in his mind. Although he looked a bit refined, he wasn't the dull type of a bookworm. Instead, he was thoughtful and had a certain level of observation skills. While this kind of person might not be suitable for market expansion, with a little more training, he could be a great expert in internal management.
"Senior, is there anything you want to ask?" Chen Che glanced at Xu Zhen.
Xu Zhen had originally intended to be a quiet listener, but Chen Che's question prompted her to think for a moment and then ask Lu Xiuyang a question: "Classmate, a campus manager is responsible for overseeing all the work within the school they are in charge of. If you had just taken over, how would you plan to launch the promotion and open up the market as quickly as possible?"
As before, Lu Xiuyang thought before answering, but this time he frowned and couldn't give a clear answer even after thinking for a while, though his words were very sincere:
"It's hard for me to say right now what measures will definitely be effective or produce results immediately. Every school has its own specific situation, and even your existing experience cannot be completely copied and reused to achieve the same results."
"I need to approach problems with a problem-solving mindset."
After answering the question, the three people left, leaving only Lu Xiuyang in the quiet office.
"What do you think of this candidate?" Chen Che didn't share his own thoughts first, but asked Chen Sui and Xu Zhen for their opinions.
"I think it's great. The ideas are very practical, and there's no tendency to make empty boasts," Chen Sui said after thinking for a moment. This was something she appreciated.
"Xu Zhen, what about you?"
"I feel the same way. This is the first person to ask. Should we wait and see if there's anyone else suitable?" Xu Zhen replied.
"Let's not wait any longer." The two people's opinions were just for reference. In the end, Chen Che made the final decision: "Let's not even talk about the fact that he's the only one who's come these past few days. It's another matter if there's someone more suitable than him later. By the time that person appears, it might be too late."
"If this person is suitable, then let's not waste any time and get moving! Time waits for no one!"
When the three returned to the office, Lu Xiuyang was examining the business license on the honor wall and a newspaper pasted to the side.
Chen Che smiled gently and said, "Lu, welcome to our team."
