Chapter 138 The "Blue Eclipse" Mutation
Chapter 138 The "Blue Eclipse" Mutation
The next second, a miracle happened.
The puddle of water actually stopped immediately, frozen in place, as if imprisoned by an invisible force.
Tom was already terrified and collapsed to the ground. It was Vassim who cursed and pulled him up from the ground.
Tom, still shaken and panting, paused for a moment, and after confirming that the danger had passed, his comedic instincts kicked in again.
He stood with his hands on his hips, mocking the still puddle of water:
"Tch! Weren't you pretty arrogant just now? Come on! Let's fight Grandpa Tom for another three hundred rounds!"
Lin Feng relaxed, and the water stain seemed to break free of its restraints, suddenly darting forward again!
"Oh my god!" Tom screamed in fright and turned to rush towards the bathroom door, but with a "bang," he seemed to hit an invisible wall of air and was bounced back hard.
"If this rule isn't broken, you probably won't be able to get out," Lin Feng calmly analyzed, while simultaneously issuing another command to the water stain, causing it to come to rest again.
Tom was unwilling to give up and tried again, but failed once more.
Left with no other choice, he gritted his teeth, lay down a second time, and, abandoning all his mockery, addressed the water stain with unprecedented seriousness, rebuking it word by word:
"Stop! According to Article 114, Paragraph 514 of the Convention on the Law of the Sea, you have illegally crossed the boundary!"
This time, the water stain trembled violently a few times, as if driven by some rule, and began to retreat rapidly, eventually shrinking into the gaps between the floor tiles and disappearing without a trace.
Tom finally let out a long sigh of relief, and tentatively took another step out of the bathroom—
This time, there were no obstacles.
Lin Feng stared thoughtfully at the gap where the water stains had disappeared.
If we could collect these things, they might become an unexpected tool.
However, we need to find a sealable container first.
........................
The four left the restroom and followed the signs to the exercise area.
This area, located in the northeast corner of the D prison area, is a huge open space enclosed by high walls.
The walls stood imposingly, their tops covered with menacing barbed wire, and several watchtowers, like silent ghosts, looked down upon the area below.
The sky was cut into a depressing gray square, hanging overhead.
The ground beneath my feet was rough cement, with a few metal tables and chairs scattered around.
It was not the designated time for outdoor exercise, and the area was empty.
A gust of bleak wind swept up scraps of paper that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, swirling them in the deathly silence and adding to the somber atmosphere.
"It seems there aren't any extra rules here for the time being." Ryuichi Kamishiro carefully scanned the walls and the few fixed tables and chairs at the entrance, a hint of relief in his tone. "Finally, a place where I can catch my breath."
"Don't get too excited!" Wasim's sharp gaze swept across the entire exercise area. "The rules won't always be posted to give you time to prepare."
He paused, then emphasized, "Some rules will suddenly be handed to you when you're involved in something, catching you completely off guard."
Ryuichi Kamishiro was taken aback, and curled his lip in disapproval.
Without lingering, the four quickly followed the instructions and headed towards the next location they needed to scout out—the prisoner labor area.
The work area is located in the southwest corner of Zone D and is a huge space filled with roaring noise.
This place has been transformed into a garment factory.
Dozens of rows of old but sturdy sewing machines were neatly arranged, emitting a continuous and annoying "clack-clack-clack" sound.
The stark white fluorescent tubes hung high, casting swaying shadows.
There were about a hundred prisoners in gray uniforms engrossed in their sewing machines, mechanically repeating the same tasks.
Most of them had blank stares and stiff movements, like wind-up dolls.
Five fully equipped, black-uniformed prison guards were patrolling the workshop.
Their sharp eyes and steady steps contrasted sharply with the inexperienced interns.
Lin Feng and his three companions looked through the observation window at the scene inside the workshop, and were deeply impressed by the scale of this prison industry.
Suddenly, a middle-aged male prisoner froze in his tracks.
The next second, his body began to convulse violently at an angle that defied physiological structure!
His skin color began to change rapidly, quickly turning from normal flesh color to an ominous dark blue!
His eyes were instantly filled with black, and his mouth opened, emitting a sharp noise that was neither human nor human, a mixture of screams and metallic friction.
The "blue" prisoner has gone berserk!
He suddenly turned around, no longer walking, but like a wild beast, on all fours, his muscles bulging strangely beneath his dark blue skin, bursting with astonishing speed, and pounced directly on the nearest prison guard!
As he swung his arms, long, thin, gleaming bone spikes, like sewing needles, extended from his fingertips, piercing straight into the prison guard's throat and chest!
The prison guard who was attacked did not panic. He dodged the fatal stab by sidestepping it, and shouted sharply at the same time:
"Number 734! Cease attack immediately!"
But the blue prisoner had completely lost his mind and pounced again.
Almost at the same time, two other nearby prison guards surrounded them like cheetahs.
They immediately pulled out their sidearms.
"Bang! Bang!"
Two muffled gunshots drowned out the noisy machinery in the workshop.
The bullet struck the blue prisoner precisely in the chest, and a faint arc of electricity seemed to flash as the bullet made contact with his dark blue skin.
However, the blue prisoner only swayed slightly, and his charge was only delayed for half a second!
He let out an even more frenzied roar. The place where he was hit only had a shallow dent. His eerie blue skin seemed to be the best bulletproof vest. The impact of the bullet and the calming energy contained within it seemed to have been mostly neutralized!
"Invalid?!" Tom almost cried out as he looked out the window.
The prison guard who fired the shot had a sharp look in his eyes. Without the slightest hesitation, he pulled the trigger again!
"Bang!"
The third bullet whistled out. This time, perhaps the first two bullets had weakened its defenses, or perhaps it had hit a weak point, the bullet finally managed to penetrate the shoulder blade of the blue body.
The blue prisoner's forward charge abruptly stopped, and his ferocious roar ceased abruptly.
The ominous dark blue color on his body quickly faded and disappeared. His massive body swayed twice, then collapsed to the ground with a "plop" like a lump of mud, becoming completely still.
The battle ended very quickly, but the process left the four people outside the window terrified.
A prison guard stepped forward and locked the unconscious prisoner's feet with specially made shackles, then picked up a walkie-talkie:
"In workshop D, room number 734, a 'Blue Erosion' mutation has occurred and has been subdued. The 'Scavenger' team can come and handle it."
"Scavenger"... This term sounds like it carries a cold connotation of cleaning up messes and erasing traces.
The four people outside the window felt a chill run from their feet straight to the top of their heads.
That wasn't movie special effects; it was a real battle that happened right before our eyes, a fight where life and death hung in the balance in the blink of an eye.
The terrifying defensiveness and aggression displayed by the blue prisoner were completely beyond the realm of humanity.
"What if we were the ones supervising the construction and encountered something like this that went berserk..."
Ryuichi Kamishiro's voice was hoarse; he didn't utter the second half of his sentence, but the meaning was self-evident.
These interns, with their mortal bodies, probably wouldn't last even a second against that monster; they would be torn to shreds in an instant.
Tom's Adam's apple bobbed, and he muttered in a trembling, breathy voice:
"Please...please...don't let us encounter the 'Blue Eclipse' mutation..."
