Chapter 25 Staking Out
Chapter 25 Staking Out
"Alright, go ahead, you can do it." After playing the role of a customer for a while and bombarding Chen Qing with all sorts of tricky questions, Zhou Tao patted Chen Qing on the shoulder.
"Keep it up!" Qu Wanwan cheered Chen Qing on.
With encouragement from the two people, Chen Qing set off. He actually found this work experience quite interesting and novel, as it was his first time working in his entire life.
He felt that Zhou Tao's training was very useful, and that he might actually be able to close a deal with a client.
On the way there, he kept rehearsing in his mind how he would answer whatever the other person asked.
To avoid being late, he set off early and arrived at the agreed location twenty minutes ahead of time.
However, he waited there for almost an hour and no one came. When he called, the other party did not answer at all.
I got stood up.
Zhou Tao took Chen Qing out to a restaurant again, comforting him: "Don't take it to heart, and don't feel discouraged. This is how it is in this industry. When I was a newbie, it took me two months to get my first client. You can get one in half a month. You're much better than me."
"Yeah, Chen Qing, Tao Ge had a tough time at first too. He had zero sales for three consecutive months and almost got fired. Look at him now, isn't he the top seller every month?" Qu Wanwan came along to freeload again.
"Really? Tao hasn't closed a deal in three months?" Chen Qing asked.
"How could that be fake? My boss is so angry he yells at me every day," Zhou Tao said. "You're much better than me. You've been here for almost half a month and haven't been yelled at even once."
This mouth must have been blessed; as soon as he returned to the office after lunch, General Manager Wang stormed up to Chen Qing's desk, slammed a housing purchase agreement on it, and yelled, "Chen Qing! What's wrong with you? Were you asleep?! You've caused such a huge mess!"
"What's wrong?" Chen Qing took the purchase agreement and flipped through it page by page.
"What's wrong? How dare you ask!" Mr. Wang reached out and flipped the subscription agreement to the page with the price: "It's clearly 2510000, but you wrote 2150000! That's a difference of 360,000!"
"Mr. Wang, please calm down. The main responsibility for this lies with me." Zhou Tao stood up from his workstation, picked up the subscription agreement and looked at it for a while. "It was my oversight. Yesterday, when I was guiding Xiao Chen in making the contract, I only emphasized the process to him and forgot to remind him to use a calculator to double-check the total price and unit price before printing."
"What do you suggest we do? It's all in black and white. If the client keeps pressing us, the company will have to admit defeat!" President Wang asked angrily.
"The customer hasn't paid the deposit yet, and the contract isn't legally binding. It's still not too late to salvage the situation." Zhou Tao, a top salesperson, is very experienced: "I immediately called the customer to explain that there was a formatting error in our system, causing garbled characters when printing prices, which has now been corrected. To express my apology, I applied to give the customer an appliance gift package or two years' worth of property management fees from my reserve fund."
"Let's do it this way, Zhou Tao. You go and call them yourself, make sure they're appeased." After hearing this, General Manager Wang's expression softened visibly. He said to Chen Qing, "Let it go this time, but don't let it happen again!"
Chen Qing nodded quickly.
After Mr. Wang left, Zhou Tao patted Chen Qing on the shoulder and whispered, "Don't just stand there, remember this lesson. In our line of work, when it comes to money and numbers, you can never be too careful. Come on, let me teach you how to make this kind of 'cleaning up mess' call."
"Tao-ge, I'm sorry, you got dragged into this and got scolded too."
"This is nothing. I've heard much harsher things from clients. After working in this industry for so long, I'm immune to emotional reactions no matter what I hear." Zhou Tao then made the call in front of Chen Qing, putting it on speakerphone so that Chen Qing could clearly hear how he communicated with the client.
After hanging up the phone, Zhou Tao found a stack of documents and put them on Chen Qing's desk. "Don't think about how to find clients these next few days. First, figure out the contract."
For the next two days, Chen Qing didn't go anywhere; he stayed in his office studying the contract.
But on the third day, Chen Qing couldn't sit still any longer, so he printed a stack of flyers and went out to distribute them.
The day was April 15th. Sun Fan was going to fall from the Xinyuan Building. How could he sit in his office and loiter around the entrance of the Xinyuan Building under the guise of handing out flyers? He would see Sun Fan as soon as he arrived.
In fact, during the two weeks he "worked" here, he paid attention every day and would ask the security guard if such a person had come, but Sun Fan never appeared.
He had inquired in the building and found that not only Sunshine Real Estate, but also other companies did not have the name Sun Fan.
Therefore, Sun Fan must be an outsider.
Although Sun Fan fell from the building at night, Chen Qing did not know how long Sun Fan stayed in the building, or when he entered the building. He went to the entrance to hand out flyers early in the morning.
Afraid of missing his meal, he didn't eat and stayed at the door.
In the apocalypse, it's common to go a day or two without food, and it's perfectly fine to skip a meal or two.
"Chen Qing, are you handing out flyers so early in the morning? Are you handing them out downstairs?" Qu Wanwan came over to talk to Chen Qing when she came to work in the morning.
"It's our first time handing out flyers, so let's not go far. Let's try it out downstairs first," Chen Qing said.
"Chen Qing, you've been posting all morning, why are you still here?" Qu Wanwan was even more surprised to find Chen Qing still there during lunch.
"There are a lot of people coming and going here, so let's stay a little longer," Chen Qing said.
"Why are you handing out flyers in this one place? Why don't you move around?" Around 4 p.m., Qu Wanwan came downstairs to buy snacks and saw Chen Qing still handing out flyers at the entrance of Xinyuan Building, so she couldn't help but walk over.
"I'm too lazy to move today," Chen Qing said casually.
"I'm too lazy to move, the office is upstairs, go and rest," Qu Wanwan said, biting into a skewer of grilled squid.
"I think Mr. Wang is in a bad mood today. I just made a mistake a couple of days ago, so I'd better not share an office with him."
"Mr. Wang is just a little short-tempered at times, but he's actually a very nice person." Qu Wanwan took a skewer of grilled squid from the bag and handed it to Chen Qing.
Chen Qing had never eaten this before, and since she hadn't eaten all day, she picked up the grilled squid and started biting into it.
While eating, he felt a slight itch on his face, but he didn't pay much attention to it.
"Ah! Chen Qing, your face!" Qu Wanwan exclaimed in surprise, "Why didn't you say so earlier that you were allergic to this? Look at you, your face is covered in red rashes."
"Are you allergic?" Chen Qing asked, chewing on a grilled squid while touching her face. It was indeed rough and uneven, like sandpaper.
He really didn't know he was allergic to squid, since it was his first time eating it.
"Chen Qing, stop eating!" Qu Wanwan snatched the remaining grilled squid from Chen Qing's hand and threw it into the trash can. "Are you alright? I'll go buy you some medicine."
"No need, it'll be fine on its own in a bit." Chen Qing didn't care at all.
"Really not going to?"
"Really, you don't need to."
"Then you should wear a mask to cover yourself up first, so you don't scare people when you're handing out flyers." Qu Wanwan took a mask out of her bag and gave it to Chen Qing.
