.......
Meanwhile, when Margarita timidly approached Yang Hao's room and knocked before pushing the door open, she saw her childhood sweetheart lying exhausted on the table, flipping through papers, looking completely drained.
Miss Karina was in a similar state. Her eyes were bloodshot as she stared at the letter before her. Even after noticing Margarita approaching, she only managed a weak smile and spoke in a barely audible voice:
“Um, Margarita? Please make yourself at home... Mr. Yang Hao and I are troubled by a problem... It's a real headache, so we can't entertain you.”
"Oh? Um... can I help you?"
Margarita looked at Karina nervously. After receiving Karina's approval with her eyes, she breathed a sigh of relief, then walked briskly behind Yang Hao, curiously looking at the papers in his hand.
Yang Hao didn't refuse. He slumped onto the sofa, then held Margarita's small body in his arms. He silently handed her the letter, then stared blankly at the ceiling, looking as pitiful as a broken girl.
What exactly happened?
Margarita looked curiously at the letter in her hand and realized that it seemed to be an urgent letter sent from Kazdel.
that...
"Um... Yang Hao? Can I use my ability?"
Margarita, like a well-behaved child, asked Yang Hao for permission to use her abilities—something she wouldn't have done if she were out in the wild with Teacher Norsen. But in front of Yang Hao, Margarita always trusted him the most, and naturally, she would entrust him with almost all of her decision-making power.
In a sense, this also explains why Margarita appears quite passive in front of Yang Hao... but how to put it? Margarita likes it this way. Because it makes her feel needed by him...
She knew it would be better if she were more proactive... but she really didn't want to annoy Yang Hao by acting on her own initiative.
“Of course, Margarita.”
In response to Margarita's request, Yang Hao simply lowered his head and rested his chin on top of hers. He inhaled the fresh scent of shampoo emanating from Margarita's hair, then reached out and gently rubbed her cheek before replying.
"But be careful. Don't overwork yourself."
"Uh-huh!"
She nodded happily, then looked at the letter in her hand—an urgent letter from the Kazdel royal family, containing information about the "city chaos." The letter, written by a woman named Theresa, pleaded with Yang Hao not to suspend the deal because of the chaos, and expressed her desire to speak with him as soon as possible... something like that?
Margarita blinked, and after using her prophetic abilities, she saw—
.......
Ok?
A woman who looks very similar to Theresa is talking to Yang Hao in a secret room, and she is holding some important documents in her hand.
The important thing should be the content of that file, right?
Margarita was happy to be able to help Yang Hao. She was diligently memorizing the document's contents, unaware of the true meaning behind the crucial fact that the woman and Yang Hao were alone in a secret room during the scene she had "prophesied"...
Chapter 167
Margarita searched diligently through the scene she had foreseen, and finally, she understood what strange things were written on the important document in the hands of the female Sarkaz!
There was a list there, an inventory of artifacts unearthed from the ground, detailing the former glory of the Gallo-Pacific Empire... but Margarita felt that much of it was probably useless. So, what she wrote down for Yang Hao were important pieces of information related to science, industry, and maps...
The woman seemed to intend to use these items as bargaining chips, and it looked like Yang Hao was negotiating with her? Hmm, knowing beforehand how many of these numerous and complicated items were actually valuable would probably make negotiations easier later on, right? Thinking this, Margarita nodded in satisfaction and carefully exited her [prophecy] scene.
That said, why was the female Sarkaz woman dressed so lightly at the end? A thin coat, and the clothes underneath looked more like a party dress than formal attire... Naïve Margarita still couldn't figure it out. To be honest, while Lady Northrend had given her a fairly basic and advanced education on blood demons,—those adult-world clothing innuendos were still too early for this little bat.
So if you don't understand it, so be it. Anyway, Margarita won't lose out... probably.
"Yang Hao! Yang Hao! I found these things for you!"
"Oh?"
Back in reality, Margarita excitedly recounted to Yang Hao what she had seen in the "prophecy." As she spoke, Yang Hao's previously listless eyes gradually brightened. When Margarita finally mentioned that the woman's list included several important "items," the man straightened up, completely absorbed in his work.
"Margarita, you've helped me a lot!" He began by expressing his appreciation for Margarita. He stroked her hair and earlobes with satisfaction and joy, enjoying the help from his childhood sweetheart for a while before sighing, "I was just troubled by some things, and the letter from the Demon King was undoubtedly adding fuel to the fire... I'm so grateful to you, Margarita. This way, at least when I meet with them, I can have more control and get more in return."
"Uh-huh!"
"Is it really okay for Margarita to be like this? Kazdel is the homeland of the Blood Demon, you know?"
Yang Hao gently rubbed Margarita's cheek as he asked softly. After all, what Yang Hao was about to do was, in a sense, damaging the shared homeland of all Sarkaz, wasn't it? Is that alright, Margarita?
Regarding this...
Margarita simply squinted her eyes in his arms:
"It's okay... Wherever Yang Hao and the teacher are, that's my home. I'm not the kind of person who has a strong attachment to my hometown... although I do miss our home in United City..."
“…I understand.” Yang Hao rubbed Margarita’s cheeks. His guilt deepened…but he knew he needed to focus on his work, so he remained curious about some of the scenarios in Margarita’s prophecy: for example…who exactly was that Sarkaz woman he was negotiating with?
When Yang Hao asked her questions, Margarita only said that the woman looked a lot like the Demon King Theresa... As Yang Hao broke out in a cold sweat, he suddenly realized that she might not be his "good student".
Margarita then stated that the Sarkaz woman was wearing light clothing, underneath which was what appeared to be an evening gown for a night out. They negotiated in a completely sealed room, and if Margarita's prediction was correct, neither side had any guards at the time...
Therese, Therese, although I knew from the beginning that you were a bold and daring Sarkaz, aren't you being a little too reckless?
Not to say anything, but my rod is so hard right now, do you think you can handle it? And besides, do you think someone as experienced as me would be seduced by a novice like you? Ridiculous, ridiculous!
Even if it were given to Princess Wei Qing, I wouldn't let you ruin your body! Mr. Yang Hao thought to himself about Ms. Therese's bold actions, but he decided to "see how things actually go later." There's no point in thinking about it now, is there?
And compared to this...
"Margarita, what reward do you want?"
Yang Hao felt that what reward his Margarita wanted was the most important thing.
After all, we can talk about things anytime. But the feelings of childhood sweethearts, once missed, are gone forever.
Of course, this doesn't mean Yang Hao thinks his wife isn't important—but isn't that the point? Given that my childhood sweetheart and my wife are two different people, what's wrong with me treating them both as equally important...?
Although Yang Hao also realized he was a complete jerk. Sigh.
"Hmm? A reward? I don't need one... it's just what I should do..."
Faced with Yang Hao's question, Margarita, amidst Miss Karina's utterly helpless gaze ("This child is wasting an opportunity"), opened her eyes in confusion, looked at Yang Hao, and then shook her head, indicating that it was what she should do—after all, if she came to Ursus in the future, Yang Hao would definitely need her help, wouldn't he? She was happy to help Yang Hao like this, right? So...
that's it?
That's definitely not going to work. Even if Margarita thinks it's possible, Yang Hao doesn't think it's acceptable.
“No, Margarita, work is work, and rewards are rewards. If you keep giving to me without asking for anything in return, I’ll feel bad.”
"Um...but I really don't want anything...say it?"
"Really?"
Definitely fake.
Seeing Margarita's hesitant and awkward manner, Yang Hao roughly knew what Margarita wanted.
So he chuckled a few times, and after cuddling the increasingly chubby little bat who was still not good at communicating with people in his ring and rocking her a few times, he said that if Margarita didn't mind, he could fulfill all of Margarita's requests after he finished his work in Kazdel and before he returned to Ursus—any request would be fine with him.
He was confident that Margarita wouldn't make excessive demands... but then again...
If Margarita really insists on staying in Kazdel with her, I'm afraid I'll have to turn Kazdel into a province of Ursus.
Amidst Margarita's cheerful laughter, Yang Hao pondered these thoughts thoughtfully.
Chapter 168
The afternoon of July 12th.
When Yang Hao led his team to Kazdel's palace at her invitation to discuss their upcoming cooperation with Princess Theresa, Margarita was also in the party. Moreover, there was clearly an additional maid present.
Ms. Northumber was fully aware that Margarita had followed them, and she also knew that her apprentice couldn't just stay there... But who was that maid?
Ms. Norsen observed the distance between the head maid and Mr. Yang Hao. In a sense, if the distance between someone and Mr. Yang Hao within the group could be considered a measure of the depth of their relationship, then without a doubt, the maid directly behind him, chatting and laughing with him, was one of his most trusted confidantes...
"So what happened?" Ms. Northumen muttered to herself, "Looks like a lot happened on the ship while I was resting," and sighed, looking at Margarita beside her with a complicated expression. She thought to herself that she still didn't know how to explain the complicated relationship between Margarita and Yang Hao to her...
Sigh. You can't exactly say... well, the teacher thinks your guy's nice and's thinking of helping you "test the waters" or something like that... right? That's why Ms. Norson is having such a headache...
How can I properly explain what's been happening lately to Margarita?
Lady Northumberna was troubled. Before they knew it, they had arrived at the court in Kazdel.
As usual, only one guard could accompany Yang Hao inside—Ms. Norsen initially thought she was out of the picture, but seeing Yang Hao still gesture for her to come along, she felt a little pleased. But speaking of which, Miss Maid? Why were you looking at me with such a terrifying gaze?
Let me make this clear first, nothing happened between me and your owner—at most, we just brushed against each other without going in, really. So please stop looking at me like that, okay?
Ms. Northumbert shivered, then silently followed Yang Hao's retreating figure. Later, when they were some distance from the conference room door, in a place where no one could hear them, Ms. Northumbert whispered:
"So who exactly is that maid?"
When Ms. Norsen asked him, Mr. Yang Hao only stiffened for a moment: "She is Monica... my head maid."
"Just arrived?" Ms. Northum frowned and pressed on, thinking that with another personal maid, where would she get her own semen—blood, no, her homemade cocktails? "Besides, I've never seen her before. And she can't be with you all the time, can she?"
Besides, the previous courses haven't ended yet, have they?
Faced with Ms. Norsen's hint, Mr. Yang Hao simply expressed his distress, saying that although Monica wouldn't interfere in his private life, given the current emergency, she might very well be sticking close to him. However, she would definitely still occasionally go back to work, so there was really no need to worry...right?
He himself wasn't quite sure.
But it doesn't matter, things will work themselves out in the end—with that thought in mind, Mr. Yang Hao sighed, and then, led by the Sarkaz guards, he returned to the Kazdel Palace's conference room.
As soon as he entered, he saw the apologetic smile of the Demon Queen Theresa, and the annoyed expression of Theresa, who had changed into a formal suit, beside her.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Yang Hao… the situation is urgent, and the chaos within our country cannot be resolved quickly by us.” Ms. Theresa frankly stated just how urgent the situation was, to the point that she had to be so open. “I need your help… Kazdel is willing to offer you anything more, as long as it can resolve this chaos.”
"...But if I remember correctly, the Kazdel royal family should be capable of handling a simple matter of domestic turmoil on their own." Yang Hao silently returned to his seat. Although he already knew that someone else was behind this chaos in Kazdel, pretending not to know now would allow him to take advantage of the situation and cause more trouble, so why not? "It's gotten to the point where you need to ask me for help, Your Highness Theresa...you understand, I represent the Dukes and Kings of Ursus."
"Yes, I understand perfectly well—but the situation is now out of our control."
"What do you mean?"
"The chaos was caused by those who have always harbored hatred towards Kazdel...and those surrounding it. They are backed by their respective governments or nobles—we currently lack the resources to send enough soldiers to resolve this crisis while maintaining our exploration of the [Wasteland], therefore..."
"...Let's talk about it in detail."
This is new intelligence—Yang Hao's initial message was that it was a group of people who hated Kazdel and spontaneously organized the Demon-Hate Faction...
However, it seems that apart from the Yan Kingdom government, which lacks support, the anti-demon factions in other countries all have some degree of support from their respective nobles. But thinking about it, it makes sense. Kazdel was once a powerful nation built by a strong people; the derogatory term "demon" was originally coined out of fear...
Um...
Is it Victoria's troublemaker? Or Colombia's troublemaker? In short... it should be one of these two.
Mr. Yang Hao had already mentally compiled a new list of the two troublemakers. Subsequently, through Princess Theresa's explanation, he gradually understood just how enormous the danger Kazdel was now facing—so enormous that Princess Theresa had no choice but to disregard the opposition of the various royal courts and directly seek help from Ursus.
"...To put it simply...they're not just creating chaos in the Kazdel region, but 'professionals' have started plundering people on your territory, and some have even started poisoning your water sources? I mean—are you sure this is the work of 'professionals'?"
“Yes. Just today, we discovered more than 10 teams of professionals of different nationalities operating near key resource points. They are abducting our people in the outlying areas, polluting the environment around Kazdel, and, more importantly—they have started poisoning water sources.” At this point, Princess Theresa's bitter smile deepened, and Theresis's expression worsened. “Not only that…this afternoon, we received information from abroad—several countries and regions, including Victoria, Colombia, Bolivar, and Letania, have closed our borders.”
"...So, you're saying that apart from your business activities in Ursus and Kazimir, and the fact that the border with Yan Kingdom isn't closed, you're completely desperate?"
"Yes... the Sarkaz mercenaries from Kazimir and Ursus won't be back for at least two months due to contract issues... that is, until February next year. During this period, our originally planned sufficient security forces will be completely unable to counter the joint infiltration by multiple countries and regions... I need your help, Mr. Yang Hao."
"..."
Simply put, Kazdel is now facing a sudden and desperate situation.
It's like you're walking along the street, and suddenly an Indian truck loaded with goods and infected people darts out in front of you, about to overturn, while two out-of-control Teslas are hurtling towards you from behind. This is a crisis that Kazdel can't possibly handle with all its might: really, because not only are there so many external problems, but Kazdel's internal funding shortages are also taking effect...
After some basic common sense and theoretical deliberation, Theresa and Theresis simply abandoned the unrealistic plan of resolving the crisis on their own. The sisters reached a consensus: either they would seek help from the Ursus people, or Kazdel would suffer the same fate as before and be destroyed again. These were the only two possible outcomes they faced.
No one wanted a second outcome. That's why they adopted such a humble posture, pleading for support from Yang Hao while completely ignoring the opposition from the noble bloodlines within the royal courts...
As for why those noble bloodlines would voice their opposition?
Under Yang Hao's puzzled gaze, Therese sighed heavily, indicating that Ms. Norson behind Yang Hao might be able to explain what was going on.
...
Yang Hao turned to look at Norsen. After a moment of surprise, Ms. Norsen honestly offered her opinion:
"The vast majority of Sarkaz of ancient bloodlines are very traditional. Especially when they are born into a tribe that is traditional in the first place—that's the thing. Perhaps many Sarkaz of noble bloodlines in the Royal Court want Kazdel to return to its former glory that everyone feared. For them, [Sarkaz cannot ask outsiders for help in internal matters]... So it is reasonable for them to oppose it."
"So outdated?" Yang Hao exclaimed in surprise, using the word "outdated" in front of the rulers of the two major factions in Kazdel. "I thought the feudal nobles in Ursus were outdated enough... I didn't expect that Your Highness Theresis, Your Highness Theresis, your nobles are still tribal?"
"..."
"..."
The Demon King and the CEO exchanged a glance, both seeing the helplessness and shame in each other's eyes. Yes, the outside world has changed drastically; even Kazimierz has transformed from a feudal knighthood into capitalism, yet the nobles within Kazdel are still stuck in a closed-off tribal system... This...?
Yang Hao isn't the kind of person who uses low emotional intelligence to say you're "too backward." He only uses high emotional intelligence to say one thing:
Are you Zulus preparing to face the British colonial army? Honestly, what use are outdated, antiquated ideas against an iron fist?
Please! A little feudalism is fine, but please stop being so tribal, okay?
