Chapter 34: Communication Wristband and Lupin
Chapter 34: Communication Wristband and Lupin
The creation of the communication wristbands did take Loila a lot of effort, as engraving the connection and transmission magic circle was a time-consuming and laborious task.
These two magic circles were far more complex than any other magic circles Loila had ever seen before... Even though she had done some simple practice, she still had to redo the engraving process many times.
Thanks to the eight-legged beast's blood, I still had a lot left, so even if I made a mistake, I could start over...
However, this resulted in it taking longer than she had imagined. As dusk approached, Loila finally completed the connection magic circle on one of the wristbands.
"I...I'm sorry," she said to Luna, a little embarrassed. "I wasted...so much...time."
"It's okay, and it's not a waste of time." Luna's voice sounded like she was singing a light, airy song: "I find it very interesting."
"While you're thinking seriously, all those distracting lights disappear."
"I see... Ah..." Loila still didn't know what harassment was.
"By the way, Loila, where did you learn about these new ancient runes? I remember you said that magic array scientists only know ten ancient runes, right?"
Meeting Luna's curious gaze, Loila pursed her lips and carefully picked up the things placed on the table.
Riddle's diary.
"Because of this," Loila whispered, "I...suddenly discovered this thing...in my...book."
"This is a diary, isn't it?" Luna recognized it at a glance, but her expression was somewhat surprised.
"You should probably throw this away," she suddenly said.
"Huh?" Loila looked at Luna in surprise, instinctively clutching her diary. "Why...why?"
"There are many ancient magical runes on this... and... magic arrays..." Loila's voice trailed off as she spoke, "I want to... study... them..."
"I have a feeling it will attract unwanted attention," Luna said, reaching out to pick up the pendant hanging around Loila's neck. "You should wear the necklace I gave you carefully..."
"Okay...okay." Loila blushed at Luna's sudden intimate gesture, and she had to put aside her original idea of telling Luna about the memory in the diary.
Moreover, Loila felt that if she told Miss Lovegood about this... Miss Lovegood might be even more determined to throw away the diary.
Mr. Riddle is clearly a genius in magic arrays...
"Clatter".
Suddenly, there was a light knock on the wooden door of the room, which startled Loila.
"Miss Hamilton, Miss Lovegood, perhaps you would like something to eat?"
The person outside the door is Mr. Lu Ping!
Loila let out a soft sigh of relief, instinctively assuming it was Dumbledore again.
"Thank you... thank you... Mr. Lupin."
Seeing the middle-aged man carrying a plate walk in, Loila quickly thanked him.
"It's nothing." Lu Ping shrugged gently, his fatigue seemed to have eased, and he was nowhere near as tired and worn out as he had been when he first returned a few days ago.
"How's your magic array project coming along?" Lupin asked casually as he sat down in a chair. "How many days will it take this time?"
"Maybe... cough cough cough..." Loila choked on the food in her mouth as she instinctively tried to answer, and Luna reached out and gently patted her back.
As a result, her cough got worse.
"Speak slowly," Lupin chuckled softly. "I'm not going to run away."
"It will probably... probably take... four or five days..." Loila let out a long breath, and after catching her breath, she said, "That's assuming... no mistakes."
"I see." Lupin seemed to count something on his fingers, then nodded thoughtfully.
"Who is Mr. Lupin going out with?" Luna suddenly asked.
"No." Lupin paused for a moment, then asked, "Why do you ask?"
"Because I think Mr. Lupin always seems to be calculating the dates," Luna tilted her head slightly. "Only people who are going out do that."
Lupin gave a slightly awkward smile, shook his head, and said, "Something else."
Miss Lovegood, please don't ask such private questions. If it involves Dumbledore, he might use the Oblivion Charm!
Although Loila was also curious about what Lupin had been calculating, she didn't want to ask when she thought it might be related to Dumbledore.
That's a bit unlucky.
"I see..." Luna didn't seem to intend to ask any further questions. After receiving the answer, she nodded slightly and jumped off the chair. "It seems quite late. Daddy made pudding tonight. I have to go."
Suddenly, Luna waved goodbye to the two of them; she had always been a somewhat eccentric girl.
"Ah... goodbye." Lupin nodded somewhat awkwardly, while Loila didn't even have a chance to say goodbye.
Watching Luna leave, Loira began to wonder if she had done something wrong to upset her... If she really wanted to, it was Mr. Lupin... But prying into other people's privacy doesn't seem like a good thing.
"By the way, Miss Hamilton," Lupin coughed as if he had just remembered something and asked, "How are your preparations going regarding the classes?"
School starts in almost a month... Looking at the timid girl in front of him who still didn't dare to raise her head, Lu Ping felt that something was wrong.
"Ah... about class..." Loila held her wand and remained silent for a long time, unsure how to answer.
Should I tell Mr. Lupin that I've been numbing myself and dare not even think about it?
"If Miss Hamilton is truly unwilling... I will go and tell Headmaster Dumbledore." Lupin sighed, looking at the somewhat troubled Loira. "Headmaster Dumbledore should understand..."
"No, no, no...no need!" Loila quickly shook her head and said, "I can...I can...I can!"
Why do you have to repeat it three times... Lupin couldn't help but chuckle as he looked at Loila, who seemed to have nothing to lose.
It's something like going to Hogwarts for classes, but it's being made to look like going to Azkaban.
Knowing Lupin's thoughts, Royla wanted to say, "This is like going to Azkaban!"
It's even worse than going to Azkaban, since Azkaban doesn't have Dumbledore...
"If you insist," Lupin said, slowly rising to his feet, "it's best to make more preparations."
"For example..." Lupin thought for a moment and said, "Wear a mask?"
"Wearing a mask?" Loila was taken aback.
"Excuse me, is that a bit impolite of me to say that?" Lupin explained as if realizing something. "What I mean is... if you're afraid of making eye contact with people, then wear a mask like you did when you were working with the Ministry of Magic the other day."
"Ah...no, no." Loila waved her hand. "I also think...Mr. Lupin's suggestion is very good..."
Wearing a mask does seem like a good idea... and it can also prevent Miss Lovegood from recognizing me.
Of course, Loila felt that Miss Lovegood would definitely recognize her...she was a very perceptive person...
If Dumbledore had invited her to be a housekeeper or a cleaner instead of a professor... Royla preferred those kinds of jobs to being a professor who interacts with people.
Hagrid must be an administrator, right?
Loila suddenly guessed, after all, if any little wizards were disobedient, there was no need to send them to the solitary confinement room as Durmstrang did, they could just be eaten directly.
Their parents might cause trouble... but Hagrid probably isn't afraid... I feel like he could crush a dozen people like himself with a flick of his wrist.
Well, Loila is technically an adult too.
Seeing Loila fall into deep thought again, Lupin took a deep breath and nodded, his thoughts suddenly returning to a few days ago.
"How is Miss Hamilton doing lately, Remus?"
Looking at the old man before him, Lupin nodded respectfully: "Miss Hamilton's research has been very successful."
"It seems she's about to complete a magic array item."
"Ah...she was one of the best in our time." Dumbledore nodded slightly and then said, "And in other aspects?"
"Other aspects?" Lupin paused for a moment.
"Hmm," Dumbledore said after a few seconds of thought, "For example... is there anything strange about her?"
Is it a strange place?
If Lupin were to say something, there was almost nothing about Miss Hamilton that wasn't strange...whether in appearance or personality...
But that's probably not what Dumbledore was asking. He probably wanted to know if Miss Hamilton was suspicious.
Lupin shook his head: "No."
"She looks no different from an eighteen-year-old girl, even... a little younger?" Lupin considered his words carefully: "Sixteen?"
Dumbledore chuckled at Lupin's reply, shook his head, and picked up the honey tsuna in front of him: "Miss Hamilton may look delicate, but she is actually surprisingly strong."
"Unlike honey tarts...it seems like they should be hard, but they're actually a bit sticky."
"I haven't had honey tsuna in a long time," Lupin said, pursing his lips. He didn't quite understand what Dumbledore meant.
"Ah, yes, Remus." Dumbledore paused. "Would you like some?"
"Never mind, Headmaster Dumbledore."
Seeing Lupin's refusal, Dumbledore didn't say anything more, but changed the subject: "I heard you've become friends with Miss Hamilton, is that right?"
"Hmm." Lupin nodded hesitantly.
"That's good." Dumbledore nodded gently. "You all carry the same burden, and becoming friends is a good thing for you both."
He blinked his wise eyes and then fell silent.
Lupin gave a somewhat bitter smile as he watched Dumbledore intently savoring the honey.
friend?
If Miss Hamilton knew my secret... would all of this still exist?
With this in mind, Lupin looked at Miss Hamilton, who seemed to be deep in thought, and gently shook his head.
I don't have the courage to find out the answer...
