Chapter 96 New Course
"Is Professor Hamilton coming back today?" Ron asked, stretching in the hallway.
We can finally get rid of Lockhart.
Harry breathed a sigh of relief: "That's great!"
Even Hermione just pursed her lips; her thoughts at this moment were the same as the other two, for no other reason than this.
What Lockhart did in class last month—by all accounts—did not make him a competent professor.
He and Professor Hamilton are two extremes. Professor Hamilton has never spoken a word in class, while Lockhart can be said to have spoken from beginning to end in every single class.
But what he said—to be honest, even Hermione was tired of it.
Before each class, he would remind everyone that he was the recipient of the Witch Weekly's Most Beautiful Smile award and the Order of Merlin, among other things.
Then he would start telling some stories from his books and ask random questions based on those stories.
After a month of classes, Hermione's biggest achievement was that she actually memorized the contents of all Lockhart's books.
Was I taking Defense Against the Dark Arts class?
Is this definitely not a course on appreciating Lockhart's works?
Lockhart's classes were so boring that many young wizards had to rely on the headbands provided by Professor Hamilton after class to review the stored memories of Defense Against the Dark Arts lessons. And they couldn't do this in front of Lockhart, otherwise he would get very angry and find some strange reasons to punish them with solitary confinement. Hermione was even punished with solitary confinement once because of this!
This is simply the greatest disgrace of Miss Granger's student life!
The thought of this made Hermione stomp her feet in dissatisfaction and quicken her pace, causing Ron and Harry, who were following behind her, to exchange a glance and begin to wonder if she still missed Lockhart a little.
"Clatter".
As the young wizards took their seats, the door to Professor Hamilton's closed office finally opened, and the figure who had been with everyone for so long slowly walked out.
She looked no different from before, a silver mask hidden under the hood of a black cloak, with only her right hand exposed, still clutching her wand.
Even so, everyone subconsciously breathed a sigh of relief.
"call."
The sound of everyone's relief startled Professor Hamilton. She seemed to shake her head slightly, and after hesitating for a long time, she raised her wand.
Finally, my familiar Defense Against the Dark Arts class is coming back, and—I can even see new memories—
Just as Hermione and everyone else were filled with anticipation, the classroom door was suddenly pushed open.
"Ah, my dear fans, it's been another week—." The familiar voice startled everyone, even Professor Hamilton seemed to freeze, and she suddenly grabbed the railing of the balcony outside her office.
"Hahaha, everyone sit quietly and wait for me—" Lockhart walked briskly into the room, seemingly not seeing Professor Hamilton at first. He flicked his cloak and was about to say something when he suddenly saw the figure standing at the office door.
"Ah—haha." He let out an awkward laugh, then his face suddenly turned pale.
This was the first time anyone had seen Lockhart like this. Even when he was with Snape, he would always have a silly grin on his face and say something with a smug expression, but this sudden stammering was like the Red Hat being grabbed by the neck.
What a surprise.
Everyone watched in surprise as he sheepishly took a few steps back, then stammered, "Good afternoon, Miss Hamilton—Miss Hamilton."
"Haha—." He laughed awkwardly again, then turned and walked away amidst everyone's astonished expressions, almost without hesitation.
"Bang!"
The classroom door slammed shut, and everyone seemed to be jolted awake from their surprise by the loud bang.
"Did you just see that?" Ron asked Harry almost immediately. "What was Lockhart's expression?"
"He almost fainted," Harry said in surprise. "He seemed very—"
"I'm terrified of Professor Hamilton," Hermione said, pursing her lips as she looked up at the silent figure.
She leaned against the railing, her expression unreadable beneath the silver mask. She didn't even move, as if—as if Lockhart's arrival and departure had no effect on her.
"Is it because Lockhart got beaten up by her?" Ron thought for a moment and guessed.
"It shouldn't be." Harry and Hermione shook their heads simultaneously, then looked at each other.
"After all, he could still talk to Professor Hamilton quite naturally back then," Hermione said, pausing for a moment, "their interactions were quite normal."
“If you consider Professor Hamilton’s silence to be normal,” Harry added, “it seems like it is now.”
"It seems he's terrified of Professor Hamilton," Hermione said, pondering. "Why is that?"
"Perhaps and..." Ron seemed to be about to say something when Professor Hamilton, who was standing at the office door, suddenly waved his wand.
Whatever the young wizards were discussing, the headbands on their table immediately flew up and landed on their heads.
"......"
As all the young wizards were lost in their memories, Loira breathed a sigh of relief. The moment she saw Mr. Lockhart, she almost fell to the ground, but luckily she grabbed the railing.
Thank you. Luo Yi pursed her lips and took a few more breaths; she needed to catch her breath.
The sudden commotion among the young wizards had made her so nervous she could barely move, but thankfully she remembered to wave her wand.
All they need to do is immerse them in Professor Snape's memories and they'll shut up. Otherwise, the chaotic way they're discussing it is enough to scare Roy.
They must be talking about Mr. Lockhart and themselves—do they think they've done something wrong?
Does he think he's scary?
Ah—it seems, it seems like I did something wrong, but, but I'm also really scared!
Mr. Lockhart's sudden entrance did startle Roy, and his departure also gave her a fright, but Roy really had no other choice.
She repeatedly tried to apologize to Mr. Lockhart and promised never to reveal the contents of her memories. Loira was even willing to use the Charm of Loyalty. However, Mr. Lockhart never gave her the chance.
What should I do?
Roy sighed, pursed his lips as he looked at the students shrouded in Professor Snape's memories.
Hopefully, they'll like Professor Snape's memories. After all, how can you even describe Professor Snape's memories?
It's a little strange and scary.
