Chapter 67 Split Operations
Chapter 67 Split Operations
With a roar of the engine, Jason drove off in the Batmobile, while Qin Wei stood there watching the taillights disappear into the darkness.
While having a heart-to-heart talk with Jason, he also carefully went through his memories again, but just like before, his memories of the year or so before he transmigrated were completely blank.
He didn't know how he got to Gotham. Was he carried there by the Flash, or did he come through a magic circle? Could he have been created by the dump truck, a summoning artifact from another world?
Just as Qin Wei was in a daze, a finger gently poked his cheek.
"Is something bothering you? You can confide in the thief if you don't mind." Selena had somehow gotten behind him. If she had greeted him any more boldly, Qin Wei might have been startled.
"Keep your voice down, I'm contemplating life... To be or not to be."
Qin Wei, of course, couldn't tell Selena what he was thinking, so he cleverly changed the subject with a little joke.
The girl's appearance here at this time was exactly as he had planned; the two had arranged to visit Richard Daniels' house that evening.
Incidentally, Richard is the manager of Gotham Bank. Whether it's the prelude of stealing the map from the vault or the climax of the bank robbery, his fingerprint mold is indispensable, like a lubricant.
Based on his observations during several withdrawals, he discovered that Richard was more cautious than the Bull Warrior, and never took off his white velvet gloves except when opening the vault.
Even when going to the toilet.
Qin Wei couldn't even imagine how many bacteria were on those gloves.
The only possible breakthrough was at home, and he didn't believe that the guy wore it even while sleeping.
Sitting on the back of the motorcycle, Qin Wei arrived at the Diamond District once again.
It was midnight, but the streets were still bustling with people. The neon lights reflected in the puddles on the roadside. Gentlemen in suits walked by unsteadily, and a pungent smell of alcohol emanated from them as they approached. Women with heavy makeup nestled in their arms, whispering sweet nothings, but their eyes kept glancing at the wallets stuffed in their suit pockets.
Everyone had a smile on their face. These smiles may have different meanings, but it is certain that their hearts were filled with happiness.
Regardless of what those smiling faces might mean, at least Qin Wei, who had lived in the East District for a long time, was able to experience a normal world for the first time.
"Once we're done with this, we can find a bar for a drink." He pointed to a club across the street with an iceberg logo.
"If it's a gentleman's invitation, then of course I can."
Selena smiled and readily accepted, even surprised by Qin Wei's invitation.
After all, apart from the time he came to apologize, this man had always deliberately kept his distance from her.
However, she could understand that "Falcone's daughter" was not a good title to outsiders, regardless of how that damned father treated her, his illegitimate daughter.
The two walked through the bustling streets, heading east for about twenty minutes.
The number of pedestrians on the street gradually decreased, and the buildings along the street changed from bars and nightclubs to small courtyards with their doors tightly closed.
To avoid being spotted by hidden cameras, the two disguised themselves.
Catwoman took off her pink hooded sweatshirt and put on a cat-ear headgear, while Qin Wei wore the standard West Coast gangster attire: a classic woven hat and a black mask. If he could get a gun, he would even like to experience the zero-dollar shopping culture in the United States.
Outside Richard's house, Catwoman stretched her arms and body, making final preparations for her infiltration.
"If you run into trouble later, run away as fast as you can. Don't worry about the mission. Safety comes first," Qin Wei nagged a few times, still worried.
Unlike the flying Grayson family, Qin Wei's interactions with Catwoman were never part of the comics. In other words, the girl was forcibly pulled into the storyline by him, and Qin Wei would feel guilty if anything happened to her.
As for how long he will feel guilty, it is still uncertain.
"You're concerned about me?" Catwoman's tone held a hint of surprise.
But she quickly frowned and bit her lower lip, reverting to her usual carefree and lazy demeanor.
"Thank you, I appreciate your concern."
With a leap, the melodious sound swept over the fence and disappeared into the shadows of the trees.
Qin Wei took out the Batmobile's remote monitoring device from his bag. He also had a top-level security lock in his hand. If Jason went too far and things got out of hand, Qin Wei would lock the vehicle and remotely control it back to his side.
……
Jason's body had been trembling for a full half hour as he gripped the steering wheel.
The last time he drove was three years ago, when Jason pried open an old Ford parked on the side of the road and drove 20 kilometers to a repair shop run by the Irish gang in the East End.
He was trembling the whole time back then, just like he is today, constantly swallowing his saliva, except that back then it was nervousness, while this time it was excitement.
The rearview screens on both sides of the steering wheel alerted him to an approaching car, and the central control screen displayed the data to him after scanning and analyzing it.
Jason recognized the car as a Cadillac El Dorado by scanning its silhouette; it's a convertible sports car that only rich kids can afford.
On any other day, he would have watched them walk away with envious eyes.
But today, we should envy these people!
Eldorado accelerated and sped up to drive alongside the Batmobile, the driver honking the horn.
"Hey buddy, can you hear us? This car is fucking cool!" Outside the one-way window of the cockpit, four or five flashy young men were frantically shaking bottles of liquor.
Amidst the pleasant hum of the motors, the cockpit roof slid open backward, revealing Jason, wearing a blood-stained red hood, glaring angrily at the young man.
At first, the young people were indeed startled, but they quickly cheered and jumped for joy. One guy even opened a bottle of champagne from the back seat and shook it.
boom!
The sprayed foam got all over Jason's face.
"Wow! What is this look? Is it Deadpool cosplay?"
"Let's go for a spin! We'll get to the next traffic light. I bet your big guy will be crawling along like a snail!"
One round?
Even the reserved Jason's hormones started to surge after hearing those words.
He nodded, and the young men slammed on the gas. With a sharp screech of tires burning, Eldorado instantly left the Batmobile behind.
"Alright, how can we not speed things up for such a rare experience?"
Jason glanced at the accelerator pedal under his foot.
The Batmobile is currently traveling at 80 miles per hour, and he has not pressed the accelerator once, relying entirely on the engine idling speed to move it.
……
Eldorado stopped at the green light.
"Brad, where's the car?"
"They've vanished without a trace!"
Brad gripped the steering wheel and glanced at the rearview mirror as his female companion held a bottle of liquor to his lips.
"Look at that car, it's all steel plates, it must be really heavy, there's no way it could outrun us!!"
Brad took a sip of champagne, wiped the wine stains from his lips, and was full of self-satisfaction.
But just as he was about to look away, the rearview mirror began to vibrate.
Unlike the vibrations from the engine, the entire rearview mirror trembled violently, causing the windshield to make a buzzing sound.
His companions cast suspicious glances at him.
"An earthquake?"
Roar!
The roar of the engine replaced all answers. The next second, a huge black object shot out of the hill and into the air in the rearview mirror, crashing heavily onto the asphalt road.
