Chapter 1686 Return

After several twists and turns, Xu Fu finally rescued Waller's two agents from the seabed. As he led them to the meeting place arranged by Waller, the fat woman mechanically thanked him, but her expression lacked sincerity. Then, she politely explained that they would discuss further confidential matters and asked Xu Fu to leave.

Xu Fu was no stranger to Amanda Waller from the comics: if the Waller standing in front of him wasn't even half as good-looking as the one in the comics, he shouldn't expect her to receive a little red flower as a reward. Xu Fu offered a brief expression of sympathy to Helena to make sure she was alright, then was pulled away by Cisco, gave a formal salute, waved goodbye, and walked away.

Waller had no real need to ask him to leave, because even flying outside the atmosphere, he could clearly hear their so-called confidential conversation. Besides, Cisco had already overheard her questions about Xu Fu underwater; these questions were simply about the true identity and whereabouts of the mysterious spacetime energy entity, the very culprit behind it all. Waller would be very disappointed if she learned that her agent couldn't answer these questions.

Waller was furious, but powerless to do anything. Someone had discovered the existence of the Time Destruction Energy Formation faster than they had and seized it for themselves before they could. Wherever these people came from, and whatever their purpose, they certainly wouldn't simply disappear.

But these things were Waller's top priority, not Xu Fu's. Xu Fu's biggest headache at the moment was that the sun was already lazily moving across the metropolis, and there were less than twenty minutes left before the bell rang for the first class on Thursday morning. He was still two thousand miles away from the classroom.

Even the new Superman felt it would be harder to avoid being late for class today.

Xu Fu had never measured his speed, and he had no idea if he could make it in time. He swept over the city's steel and concrete, over endless plains and trees, and in a whirlwind of red and blue, he stormed into the metropolis like a bandit entering a village. He roared past the Lexus Building, almost shattering the glass on its exterior, which shone as brightly as its owner's bald head.

He returned to his dorm at lightning speed, having less than a minute to change. Mike and he were in the same class, so his roommate had obviously already left for class. Then, like a hurricane, he hurtled towards his class at an incredible speed invisible to the naked eye!

Unfortunately, even if he could get there before the bullets and the sounds, he couldn't get there before the school bell rang. Three seconds after the bell rang, he appeared at the door, and the professor on the podium glared at him: "You're late, Mr. Reynolds. What's with your hairstyle?"

At this moment, Xu Fucai noticed that his hair had been messed up by the gust of wind during the journey. He awkwardly tugged at the two proudly standing hairs on the top of his head: "Ah, sorry, I missed the bus."

The professor's face showed disbelief, but he was very impressed with the first week's students, so he said, "Please sit down, we've only just begun."

Students with good grades often don't enjoy the privileges that students with poor grades have. Xu Fu walked into the classroom and saw his roommate gesturing to him from the third row, where there was an empty seat.

Xu Fu sat down next to Mike, who immediately came over and whispered, "Hey, buddy, didn't you sleep a wink last night?"

"Hmm," Xu Fu did not deny it.

"why?"

"I went to have some fun," Xu Fu lied, thinking that Mike would believe him more.

“Alright, kid,” Mike actually believed him. He grinned mischievously and rubbed Xu Fu’s shoulder. “Let me guess, do you have any companions?”

I guess so.

"Really? Is she pretty? Is she blonde or brunette?"

“Actually, it’s this.” Xu Fu answered subconsciously, the image of the ancient krypton dragon he had encountered last night flashing through his mind, its deafening underwater roar still echoing in his ears: “And it was a really cool dragon.”

Mike choked up, a strange expression on his face. "Seriously, what were you doing last night?"

At this point, the conversation paused temporarily because the professor walked to the podium, cleared his throat, and said loudly, "Now, all of you, bring me the essays I assigned last week. I'll collect them now."

Xu Fu's face immediately turned as if it had been pierced by Kryptonite. He seemed to have only recently realized that he wasn't afraid of Kryptonite, but that didn't matter. In his panic, he completely forgot about the existence of such a thing. He had been thinking about other things all week, and this homework, which he thought he could finish in a few seconds at super speed, was pushed to the bottom of his to-do list until he completely ignored it.

"...These days, who still checks homework in person?" Xu Fu couldn't help but ask. "Can't they just submit it online?"

“That’s how it is in many classes, but there are always some older teachers who prefer a conservative approach. They say paper can’t be replaced by electronic devices.” Mike suddenly noticed his roommate’s expression turn serious. “Wait, have you started writing yet?”

Xu Fu didn't reply, just watched quietly. If he told the professor he wanted to submit his paper another day, considering the good impression he had made on the professor, it might not be a big deal. But delaying his first assignment wouldn't earn him any points with the professor. Fortunately, the old professor (kindly) decided to start the exam from the other end of the classroom, which gave him a chance.

He looked around and noticed a few lonely empty seats in the corner of the last row.

"I think I'd better change my position."

Before Mike could answer, he stood up and slipped to the back of the classroom. He chose this spot because no one would be able to see him writing from that angle.

Two seconds

Xu Fu put his pen aside and let out a long sigh of relief. A few seconds later, the professor walked across half of the classroom and stood in front of him.

The old professor moved his glasses up to the bridge of his nose. "Hmm? I remember you sitting in the front."

Xu Fu snorted and handed the newly completed report to the professor. The professor took it, glanced at it leisurely, and then suddenly asked in surprise, "Why is your work still hot?"

Chapter 1687 The Nacino Journey

Nachino, Friday

A worker in the crane cab gasped for breath as gravity pulled him through a tilted window—just another routine task for Nashino.

Carla was listening to Miss Grant's daily complaints in her boss's office when she suddenly heard people running frantically down the street, followed by the scream of a worker who had fallen from a height of over twenty stories. Realizing there was a disturbance in the street, she didn't hesitate to use the excuse of needing to use the restroom—an excuse she'd used countless times in front of Miss Grant—and left the office without waiting for a reply.

To be honest, she was actually a little relieved, because the broken faucet gave her a plausible excuse to escape Ms. Grant's nagging. Just as she was about to take off her glasses and put on her combat suit, she caught a glimpse of a red and blue whirlwind rushing past the window towards the accident scene.

Kara raised her eyebrows in surprise: "Xu Fu!?"

Howling through the air, the worker stopped abruptly, falling less than ten meters from the ground. His heart pounded wildly. He looked up in horror and was surprised to find the new Superman supporting him with one hand, smiling and asking, "Hey, are you alright?"

For a fleeting moment, he thought he was going crazy, and his lips reflexively replied, "No...it's okay, I'm fine."

Xu Fu was about to put it down when he suddenly heard a crisp sound of metal breaking above him. He looked up and saw that the broken half of the support shaft had finally given way under the weight, and half of it was hanging off the edge of the building. The crane had completely fallen off its base, the metal hooks were scattered in the air, and the heavy objects on the edge of the building had created a huge crater.

“Hang on a little longer, buddy,” Xu Fu said to the stunned workers who had already been flying back up towards the crane. “We have to catch him.”

Xu Fufei flew to the bottom of the crane, gently pushed it with his free right hand, and positioned the crane as it descended. Then, he walked around the crane and grabbed the metal ring on the top of the cab with one hand. Under the force of his hand, the heavy crane began to decelerate rapidly. In just two seconds, most of its kinetic energy was exhausted, and it looked like it was about to come to a stop.

However, things did not go so smoothly.

When Xu Fu heard the low hum of the ring in his hand being pulled, he vaguely realized something was wrong. As if confirming his premonition, the next second, the ring made a muffled "clang," but it was actually being pulled down from the top of the crane. Xu Fu gripped the anxious worker tightly; the worker, propelled by inertia, tumbled backward twice, while the crane, like a beast breaking free of its shackles, suddenly accelerated, rushing towards the street below for another charge.

People scattered and fled in the street. In the chaos, a young mother pushing a stroller was knocked aside by panicked citizens. The stroller rolled toward the danger zone due to inertia. The mother screamed, but could not squeeze through the chaotic crowd.

Without hesitation, she pushed through the crowd to her son's side and tightly enveloped him with her body. The child's face still held an innocent smile, seemingly unaware of the impending death.

Three seconds left

Xu Fu saw this scene clearly and suddenly sped up. His crimson-blue figure moved like a gust of wind, instantly leaping over the crane and landing on the ground just a step away. He gently placed the worker on his arm next to the mother and child, straightened up, shook his head, and stared directly at the steel behemoth so close to him.

"boom!"

Extreme sports. That's really exciting, Xu Fu, you should do even better.

The surrounding residents were stunned, all turning their gazes towards the center. As the dust settled, the silhouette of a massive crane came into view. The new Superman stood like a flagpole planted straight into the ground, the asphalt edges of his red boots swaying precariously under the weight. His hands, gripping the crane, sank deeply into the battered and dented metal casing; the enormous machine lay obediently in his hands like a tamed beast.

The shocked crowd remained silent for a moment until Xu Fu moved the enormous machine aside, at which point they erupted in cheers. Xu Fu smiled and waved to everyone, stroking the head of an excitedly giggling baby, before floating away from the stage amidst applause and cheers.

He's starting to feel more and more comfortable around them.

This little incident occurred at the end of the day; Kara wasn't surprised at all when she spotted Xu Fu in the lobby of KetkoMedia. She greeted him cheerfully, "Hi, what brings you to Nasino?"

“It’s a bit much for a lady to always take the initiative. Since you surprised me last week, I thought I should reciprocate.” Xu Fu helplessly spread his hands: “I originally wanted to surprise you too, but I just happened to hear workers outside crying for help…”

At this point, he said somewhat awkwardly, "Well, I know I didn't handle it well. I'm still a novice, and if I were you, I would definitely have done better."

“What are you talking about? You did a great job just now,” Kara encouraged. “You did very well; I couldn’t have done better.”

"Really? Are you sure this isn't just encouraging rookie superheroes?"

“Of course not.” Kara pulled Xu Fu to her side, gently kissed his cheek, smiled slightly, and said with a blush, “See, this is the reward you deserve.”

"Wow, I suddenly feel more motivated. Seriously, is there anything else I can do to help? I can't wait to take another plane or train ride."

“Not a bad attempt,” Kara complained, “only once a day.”

As they spoke, the two had already left Kateco's hall. Kara asked, "What are your plans for this week?"

“This is your home turf,” Xu Fu smiled faintly, recalling the exact words she had said a week ago in the Metropolis, “You are the master here, so naturally I must obey you.”

"So this is what you were thinking before you came all this way to see me?"

"Heaven and earth! Oh no, it must be Rao on top! I never thought of such a thing!"

"..."

They were still chatting and laughing when suddenly a loud text message notification interrupted their conversation. Xu Fu took his phone out of his pocket and saw an unfamiliar number on the screen, along with a bat-shaped inscription on the message viewer.

Xu Fu thought, "Really? Wait, why don't I remember giving him my number?"

"Are you kidding me?" Kara rolled her eyes. "Are you asking why Batman has your phone number?"

After thinking about it, Xu Fu realized it was a very foolish question. But what was there to write a letter to Batman about?

Both Kryptonians stared intently at the small screen. Xu Fu clicked on the message, and after reading it, the two exclaimed in unison in amazement.

Chapter 1688 Gotham Auction

The black Rolls-Royce pulled up and drove into the driveway next to a square building, surrounded by skyscrapers. Gotham City's sky was perpetually overcast, almost all the sunlight blocked by these buildings. It was a one-way street, so narrow that even a car might not be able to drive up it, and from the other side, the characteristic gloomy air of Gotham City blew in.

However, in this forgotten alley in Gotham City, high-end sports cars from various world-renowned brands gathered, as if modern aristocrats from all over the world were elegantly stepping out of heavy doors. The men were dressed in suits and had slicked-back hair, while the women were wrapped in mink coats, their smooth skin shimmering with a healthy, fair glow.

A Rolls-Royce joined them, stopping at the entrance to the convoy of luxury cars. The door opened, and Bruce Wayne emerged, carrying a tall, long-legged Russian blonde. He presented a meticulously crafted white invitation to the clerk, who greeted him at the door before leading the Russian woman further inside.

A huge crystal chandelier hangs in the lobby of the building, filling the spacious area with an atmosphere of magnificence and solemnity. The dome, more than 30 meters above the ground, is designed as a hemispherical shape, concave upwards, and the four walls are hung with oil paintings of different styles.

Bruce carried the Russian beauty and walked inside with the guests, where they encountered a familiar face near the escalator.

"Mr. Wayne?"

Bruce paused, turned his head to look to the side, and saw a middle-aged man in a brown suit walking towards him. He had simple, dry blond hair, stood straight, and walked with a rather powerful gait compared to other wealthy young men.

Eddie Caldwell is the head of the local Caldwell Corporation, which, while not as large as Wayne Enterprises, is one of the leading companies in Gotham and has many business dealings with Wayne Enterprises.

“It’s quite unexpected to see you in a place like this, Mr. Wayne,” Caldwell said with a smile as he walked over and shook hands with Bruce.

“I think I could say that too,” Bruce said, flashing his usual standard smile.

“I think you should know that most of the items being auctioned today are illegal devices.” Caldwell was still sneering, but his gaze didn’t falter as he intently scanned Bruce. “Is there anything Mr. Wayne might be interested in?”

Bruce shrugged. "Who knows? I don't know either. Of course I know what's being auctioned here, but you have to realize that when you're so wealthy that you can buy anything with a single thought, you can't help but want things you can't get through normal channels."
