A green light flashed in the darkness as Helena's fists rained down on Supergirl's face, leaving her breathless. But her opponent's cheeks were as hard as iron, and each punch from Helena's hand caused her pain. Despite the gloves being pushed to their limit, she forced herself to land ten punches in a row.

Finally, after Carla had taken countless punches to the corner of her mouth and staggered to her feet, Helena's own fingers cracked unbearably. The excruciating pain made her groan, and she realized she must have broken her fingers.

This caused her to momentarily falter, and considering the opponent she was facing, it was undoubtedly fatal. The Supergirl instantly retreated, as if a black vortex had swept in front of her, and swiftly thrust out with her palm. Helena saw nothing, only feeling a powerful force pierce her chest armor like a mountain, forcefully pushing her outwards.

Helena slammed into an underground ventilation duct with a "bang," and a faint white gas burst out from the crack.

Pain coursed through her entire body, as if every bone was protesting. Helena struggled to her feet, her left arm dangling in the air like a noodle, clearly dislocated.

Helena gritted her teeth, enduring the excruciating pain. The pain had its advantages: it kept her alert, helping her concentrate in battle and making it easier for her to seize fleeting moments.

Just like now

The spherical flash erupted the moment the Supergirl lunged forward, its intense light instantly illuminating the entire dark tunnel and stimulating her vision. This was a flash specially designed by Wayne Technologies, briefly overloading the Supergirl's visual nerves, causing her to lose her sight for a moment—precisely the opportunity Helena had to seize.

With astonishing speed, she snatched the pistol, flicked the grappling hook to the side, tightened her grip on the rope, and swiftly pulled her body to one side. The Supergirl, who had lost sight of her, practically whistled past her, throwing a punch.

Helena chose a specific spot to land, somersaulted to her feet, and gasped for breath.

The Supergirl turned and walked towards her, like a relentless hunter trapped in a death trap. Although she was temporarily blind, her super hearing was still working. Her hearing was so acute that simply hearing sounds was no problem for her.

The Super Girl contestant swiftly took a step forward, her fist flying like a cannonball. It was utterly impossible for a human to dodge it with normal reaction time unless you had the experience to anticipate her move before it was fired. It's like dodging a bullet: you can't dodge a bullet that's already been fired unless you avoid the direction it's pointing before the gun is even fired.

Helena did just that. She barely dodged Supergirl's punch and charged to the side. The black iron fist, with the speed of the wind, pierced through the inscription "High Voltage Danger" on the pipe wall and slammed heavily into the complex circuitry.

A dazzling blue arc of electricity, like countless tiny snakes, burst forth from the wires, instantly coiling around the Super Girl's entire body. The black substance covering her resisted fiercely, as if screaming silently.

Although Helena hadn't worked in Gotham for many years, it was the city she grew up in, and she knew everything about it like the back of her hand, such as the intersections of the underground power grids in each block. Supergirl's attack struck right at the center of the Rick Heights power grid, and the ultra-high-voltage discharge instantly depleted every drop of energy in the area—even for a Kryptonian-weakened Supergirl, it was enough to take a toll.

Supergirl collapsed to her knees, blue smoke billowing from her body; she was temporarily incapacitated. Helena gritted her teeth, ignoring the angry protests of her shattered knuckles, and slammed the kryptonite ring into Supergirl's face again. Blood gushed from the corner of her mouth, and Supergirl fell heavily to the ground.

The struggle between the darkness surrounding Supergirl and her grew increasingly fierce. A thick black mist enveloped her, threatening to strip her away with just a little more. Ignoring her exhaustion, Helena pressed on, step by step. The impact caused a small piece of kryptonite to detach from the ring, flying into the endless darkness and being carried away by the water.

Unfortunately, she was one step closer to success.

An underground current burst forth from the depths of darkness, surging towards Elena and knocking the huntress, who had struggled to her feet, to the ground.

The Knights' leader, Wesley Digren, suddenly appeared like a ghostly cloud before the kneeling Supergirl. Looking at Helena, he said, "Impressive. As a human, you are a remarkable warrior. Unlike your other fragile species, you deserve a place to live in the New World if you are willing to accept it."

Helena leaned on her dislocated shoulder and said, "I just went there, go ask the next one."

“Unfortunate, but not unexpected.” Wesley shrugged. “Well, see you next time.”

With that, he waved his hand, and a thick cloud of black mist engulfed him and Dark Woman. When the mist dissipated, both of them vanished.

The Flash and Green Lantern arrive late: "What did we miss?"

“Everyone.” Helena covered her mouth with her hand, glaring angrily at the two of them. “If any of you had listened to me, the situation would be very different now.”

“Guys,” Wally pointed to the sky, “maybe we can talk about this later.”

The afterimage plummeted at incredible speed, shooting a streak of fire into the air and kicking up dust upon landing. Xu Fu landed half-crouched, then stood up and surveyed the garbage-strewn street, raising an eyebrow involuntarily.

"Has anyone seen my girlfriend?"

The three looked at each other in bewilderment, and for a moment they fell into an eerie silence.

Chapter 1743 Team

“Young, impulsive, reckless, and unplanned.” Helena coldly observed the two up-and-coming Green Lanterns and Flash, commenting irritably, “Inexperienced, combat-sensitive, and worst of all, unwilling to follow orders.”

The red-and-green figures looked at each other, then Wally said in a low voice, "It can't be that bad, can it? Come to think of it, we just ran into a Black Kryptonian, and we all know how difficult that is."

“If you’d like to hear me out for a little while,” Helena said, “since you don’t seem to understand, I’ll have to repeat it again: the enemy is a fanatical cult whose goal is to exterminate humanity. They possess some kind of mysterious, unexplained power that allows them to actually do just that. Now they’ve assimilated a Kryptonian into their ranks, which further exponentially increases the enemy’s danger.”

She paused, glanced at the group, and said in a deep voice, "Although I hate to say this, if we are to fight the enemies of this era, we must work together. And the foundation for maintaining this relationship is that you must obey my orders."

“Wait a minute,” Mike raised his hand like a student interrupting a teacher, “I can agree with the first part, but if we’re going to form teams, why did you skip the voting stage and immediately become the team leader?”

“Because it’s so obvious.” Helena grinned. “What else? Which of you newbies looks like a leader?”

“Okay, then I think I'd better not be a leader.” Mike frowned slightly, somewhat displeased with her unfriendly and forceful attitude. “No offense intended, but you seem to be the only one here without superpowers, right?”

Helena narrowed her eyes slightly: "Really? But I seem to remember that I was the one who stopped that Kryptonian girl who was manipulating everything. She just beat you to a pulp back then? Maybe you should think about how to fight smarter, instead of just relying on your superpowers."

Mike raised an eyebrow, the green light on his halo rising slightly. "So, do you want to have a match?" He glanced at Helena's drooping hand, then turned away. "Of course, it'd be best to wait until your arm can move. I don't want to use you like that."

Helena gave a soft hum: "To deal with you, I only need one hand."

Seeing the atmosphere had been disrupted, Wally quickly stopped between them, waved his hand, and said, "Hey, calm down, all of you. We're all good guys, and we're fighting the bad guys, right?"

"I can't believe it!" Xu Fu, who had only just begun to speak, suddenly said coldly, "You're all like a bunch of children who never grew up."

The three of them stopped arguing instantly, their eyes all turning to him. Helena wondered if she had misheard: "What did you say?"

"I said you're acting like three-year-olds, and I'm the one who has to speak up..." Xu Fu took a step forward, seemingly unable to contain his anger. His aura instantly enveloped the three of them, who instinctively took a half-step back. "A group of madmen with mysterious powers want to summon some kind of world-destroying entity to annihilate humanity. They even kidnapped my girlfriend. Now, do you need me to tell you that now isn't the right time to confront them?"

The moment he finished speaking, a chilling silence fell over the room. All three seemed stunned; Mike and Wally were stunned by his unprecedented ruthlessness, while Helena was taken aback. She had never seen this Kryptonian so forceful. In an instant, he seemed to transform into a different person, an aura of authority and unquestionable power emanating from him without warning, instantly intimidating everyone present.

Xu Fu had been uneasy ever since he discovered Kara had disappeared from his room. His mood worsened when he arrived and found Kara manipulated by an unknown dark force and becoming its leader. Hearing Helena and Mike arguing, he was filled with rage and shouted without thinking. But as soon as he finished speaking, looking at Helena's limp arm, broken fingers, and various injuries all over her body, he was filled with regret.

Perhaps he shouldn't have said those things to Helena, or at least not in that manner. She must be very angry.

Unexpectedly, she obediently shut her mouth and didn't say a word. Mike waved his hand awkwardly, "I think you're right."

Wally carefully observed the group around him. "So, are we a team now? Like a new Justice League or something?"

“You can put this away.” Xu Fu’s gaze shifted to Elena. The girl was very strong. Her arm and two fingers were broken, her body was covered with countless abrasions, and her internal organs had also suffered some damage. She was obviously in great pain, but she didn’t say a word and stood there stubbornly, her pale forehead covered with fine beads of sweat.

Xu Fu stepped forward and said, "You should at least find a place to do a quick grooming."

“I think he’s right,” Wally agreed. “You don’t look too good.”

Helena let out a soft groan, unusually unresponsive, indicating that she had indeed reached her physical limit. She said, "Batman has an armory not far from here, with emergency medical supplies. Let's go there."

It must be said that at times like these, Batman's arsenal and supply depots throughout Gotham City are indeed crucial; only a tycoon like him could arm the entire city into his own armory.

As Helena skillfully unlocked the lock hidden on the roof of the old house, pressed her palm print, and opened the entrance to the armory, Mike couldn't help but ask, "Wow, you can get into Batman's hideout? Who are you to him? A lackey?"

Helena ignored him and dragged her battered arm inside. She told the others to wait outside while she headed towards the infirmary.

Xu Fu stood outside the closed door, watching through the camera as she tried to take a first-aid kit out of a metal cabinet in the corner with one hand. He wanted to go and help her, but when he imagined her slyly saying, "I don't need any help," he stopped in his tracks.

He stood by the door, watching Helena grit her teeth, adjusting her dislocated arm, suppressing a faint groan of pain as a cracking sound came from her shoulder. The sound was very soft, almost inaudible, but Xu Fu still caught it with his keen hearing.

She moved her arms as if that would allow her to stand up again, then draped the cloak over herself with the same dexterity as repairing her deformed bones. Xu Fu felt a pang of pity for Helena, a little girl without any superpowers. Girls her age should be enjoying a more fulfilling and interesting life, not enduring three days of injuries.

Helena opened the medicine box and suddenly said coldly, "Do you have a peculiar fetish, like peeping at how other people regenerate their bones?"

· ·Requesting flowers····· ·······

That's how she knew. Xu Fu pushed open the door and walked in. Helena just glanced at him and continued doing her own thing, disinfecting and treating the wounds that were in worse condition.

"Your fingers," Xu Fu reminded him.

“I know,” Helena replied casually. “It’s just a minor injury. If I use that finger less often in the next two weeks, I’ll recover quickly.”

Xu Fu swallowed hard, feeling somewhat dumbfounded. In six years, he hadn't suffered many injuries, and he couldn't help but marvel at Helena's incredible tolerance for such terrible pain—it was hard to comprehend. Was the ability to endure pain truly hereditary?

"Is this what you came here to say? My finger?"

“Oh, of course not.” Xu Fu considered his words for a moment and said, “I just want to apologize for some of my unruly behavior. You know, because of Kara, I think the enemy must have targeted me. I angered the leader of the Knights, and he threatened to force me to join them. Moreover, I was the one who had to sleep in that bed last night, which may mean that he knows who I am.”

0...

"She's sleeping in your bed?" Helena scoffed coldly, her tone unchanged, without even lifting her head.

She couldn't possibly be sincere, could she? Xu Fu carefully observed the lukewarm expression on Helena's face and explained, "I just invited her to my house for Christmas."

"uh-huh"

Helena silently bandaged the wound, closed the first-aid kit, put it back in its place, and said softly, "But you said you wanted to apologize, which is unnecessary, but what you said makes a lot of sense."

Xu Fu stood there, stunned, and subconsciously began to doubt whether there was something wrong with his super hearing.

“Given the current dire situation, we really shouldn’t let this cause trouble at this stage.” She continued, “I’m not good at prioritizing, and you’re right. The genie’s words have also made me reconsider my views; perhaps I really am not the best person to lead this temporary team.” She paused, then turned meaningfully to Xu Fu, “You are the most suitable.”

"Huh?" Xu Fu pointed at himself in surprise, shaking his head back and forth: "Are you kidding me? You are more experienced than me, more resilient than me, and you are always so confident."

“I know my strengths better than you do,” Helena accepted his praise without any modesty. “But that’s not a prerequisite for leading a team. The heroes of this era have stepped out of the shadows because of you, and like moths drawn to a lighthouse, they have naturally rallied around you. That’s something I can’t do. More importantly, right now, they are all willing to listen to you, not me.”

"but..."

Xu Fu was about to object when Helena interrupted him: "There's nothing more to discuss. This is the best option. Besides, the positive atmosphere just now proves that you can unleash your powerful aura when needed, which is also essential. If you need help, I can offer advice anytime. But don't forget, you are the backbone of the team, and you must always guide the team."

He couldn't help but think of Superman and Batman. The Justice League chairman, wearing a red cape, always listened to Batman's advice, so he was following the same path as his predecessor.

He suddenly realized the idea was a bit dangerous. He quickly shook his head, stopping his wandering thoughts.

Chapter 1744 Gathering

Just as Helena was tending to her wounds, someone requested communication: "I am the Huntress."

“You finally called me back,” Cisco’s voice came from the other end, the background noise of rock music fading away and replaced by a kind of noisy buzzing. “What’s going on over there? You’re not answering my questions.”

"The line was jammed and interrupted. I'm in a safe location in Gotham now." Helena frowned slightly. "What's that sound coming from your end?"

"It's an airplane engine; I'm flying to the metropolis."

“The Metropolis?” Helena repeated. “Aren’t you supposed to be spending Christmas at home? Why are you suddenly going to the Metropolis?”

“My God, you couldn’t possibly not know about this, could you?” Cisco sighed incredulously. “Waller declared an emergency mobilization, a level seven red alert, and all field agents must be on high alert. Didn’t you know?”

"Absolutely not." It seems that when Waller gave the order, Helena accidentally entered the signal jamming zone of "063". But a Level 7 alert is no joke; a Level 7 alert usually means something serious has happened, such as the Apocalypse Legion returning.
