The red and green lights went out one after the other, and Mike proudly held up the green light ring: "Hmph, looks like I should have been in charge more than you were."
“You have 14 points, I have 16 points, we’re even,” Xu Fu said casually, swaying as if he had never left his seat, but the guy on the sidewalk who was about to stand up was kicked in place by a speeding kick.
Xu Fu added, "Counting from here, there are 17."
“Showing off,” Mike snorted, feeling somewhat dumbfounded. His gaze shifted to the end of the street, where a small swarm of black flying objects, like a cluster of locusts, flapped their wings and flew over.
The monsters lunged at them from both ends of the street at the same time, seemingly aiming for both of them. Mike thought, "Hey, why don't we outdo these things this time? I'll take on the one on the east, and you take on the one on the west. Whoever finishes first wins, what do you say?"
Xu Fu chuckled softly, "Deal."
The two immediately separated, and Madton unleashed his full power, even the light from his aura seemed brighter than usual. Two beams of green light shot out in succession, and the two swirling black monsters exploded one after the other in mid-air. Mike's body glowed green, and his figure suddenly accelerated. In front of him, the group of black monsters, at the moment of impact with their limits, abruptly turned and rushed towards the two rows of buildings and rooms on the side of the alley.
One by one, the low-intelligence monsters charged into the narrow alley, spewing dark energy from their gaping maws at the green orbs of light rushing towards them. Unfortunately, the enemies were incredibly agile and inaccurate; only a few of their attacks hit their targets, intercepted by the enemy's armor. The green light streams continuously reflected from the front, felling them one by one. By the time they emerged from the alley, the group had been halved.
Mike once again displayed his agile flying abilities, using his aura to maneuver his body at supersonic speed, weaving through streets and alleys, and whistling past under bridges, leaving the group of ugly pursuers behind. As he flew out of the underground parking garage, he turned back and unleashed a powerful punch at the entrance, raining down stones on the two monsters, making the pursuers five to one.
It was another sharp 90-degree turn. Mike stumbled along behind, the green light behind him making a perfect 90-degree arc—a maneuver no spaceship on Earth could match. The reckless pursuers behind clearly lacked such superior control; they struggled to catch up with the green light, only to be met with a devastating barrage of fire from a half-meter-thick green cannon as they rounded the bend.
Mike's lips twitched, and he chuckled, "Say hello to Green Lantern Cannon, you bastards."
Perhaps these creatures were too unintelligent; they were completely unaware of the danger they were in, and leisurely flew straight towards the green, transparent heavy cannon. They were swallowed up by the all-pervasive green aura, and even their remains turned to ashes.
As the green light from the heavy cannon faded, Mike clenched his fist in satisfaction, pleased with his masterpiece. But when he confidently went to check on his competitor, his smile froze. He saw Xu Fu frantically freezing the flying monsters all over the street into ice crystals, then slamming his palms together in the air. The shockwave sent out transparent ripples, shattering every ice crystal into beautiful crystal shards scattered all over the ground.
Mike's face twitched: "You, you... this is cheating!"
Nevertheless, they quickly restored order to the battlefield within minutes, and all that remained was to proceed to the church assembly point designated by Cisco to engage the enemy face-to-face.
However, in Xu Fu's view, nothing had ever gone so smoothly since he was born. What happened in the next few seconds confirmed his opinion.
A black afterimage appeared out of nowhere, like a sudden whirlwind. Before he could react, it struck him hard, passing through a green light field and throwing Mike far to the side. As the next blow came, Xu Fu turned around, aimed at his face, and hit him squarely on the bridge of his nose, sending him flying through the air, over at least three buildings, before crashing into a construction site.
Xu Fu stood up from the pile of steel beams that he had beaten deformed, rubbed his slightly reddened nose, and couldn't help but frown.
Her arrival was beyond doubt, and Xu Fu was not surprised; in fact, he could say he had expected it.
The superwoman who manipulated darkness landed effortlessly a few feet in front of him, staring at him with a cold, unfamiliar gaze. Xu Fu stood up and softly called out: Kara.
Surprisingly, Xu Fu remained rational; at least she remembered what her boyfriend looked like. In this situation, Xu Fu didn't know whether she should be happy or not.
“You should stop resisting,” Kara said calmly. “The Center will end everything. It represents the will of the Earth and will do what it should have done long ago: restore the Earth to its rightful state.”
She sounded like she'd been completely brainwashed; her voice was eight octaves lower than usual. Hearing this, Xu Fu didn't even bother wasting his energy talking to her. He knew he didn't have the silver tongue to change a little person's mind like a cartoon character, so he decided not to make any pointless attempts.
Soon, Mike's voice came through the earpiece; he had just been thrown into the air, "Xu Fu? Are you alright?"
“It’s alright, my girlfriend.” Considering the situation, Xu Fu himself couldn’t help but feel that his words sounded a bit strange. He added, “You all step back, I can handle things here. Get to the church as soon as possible and get back to the others. I’ll be there shortly.”
"Take care of yourself."
Kara waited patiently with her arms crossed for him and Mike to finish their conversation. When his connection was severed, she said coldly, "Foolish choice. You should have called the green light... Although it wouldn't have made any difference in the outcome. I've been transformed by the Center, and even you can't stop me."
“Many people have said similar things.” Xu Fu shrugged, then looked her up and down carefully. “Well, I have to admit, I might really need a bit of luck because next time I might have to do something horrific to you….”
He paused, then chuckled softly, tapping his left palm with his right fist: "...I hope I won't be angry with you when you wake up."
Chapter 1756 Dark Energy
The streets near the church were in a mess: trees, lampposts and utility poles lay scattered along the roadside, fine cracks were everywhere from the ground to the exterior walls of buildings, and groundwater gushed from the damaged fire hydrants. Even if two well-equipped armies clashed here, it would be a complete disaster.
Strangely, when Huntress, Batman, and Shockwave arrived, there wasn't a single ghost in sight for several blocks. The monsters and cultists had vanished less than a minute before they appeared, as if those demons had heard the words of the Monkey King and disappeared instantly.
Mike landed right behind them. Helena glanced at him and asked, "The new Superman?"
“He met his girlfriend on the way, and now they’re enjoying some alone time together.” Mike shrugged helplessly. “Of course, it’s probably not a very pleasant one, but he told us not to worry, he’ll get through it.” He paused, then turned to the church in front of them and said, “However, we’re still very lucky; there aren’t any of those crawling or flying things here. Maybe that guy knew we were coming and slipped away beforehand?”
“No,” Cisco frowned, “I sense it is still filled with enormous dark energy, and the person we are looking for is still inside.”
"Maybe he knew we were coming?" Batman muttered. "He deliberately cleared a path for us, signaling us to come in."
"Could this be a trap?" Cisco asked, instinctively turning to Batman, "What should we do?"
However, Batman didn't say anything more, but simply turned his gaze to his daughter, letting her know that he had made a decision.
Helena frowned slightly, thought for a moment, and then quickly made a decision.
“Great!” She took a step forward and kicked the door open. “Let’s see what their names are.”
The rest of the metropolis was a construction site.
Three walls collapsed into a line: the wooden ceiling of a building under construction had crumbled, leaving behind a pile of stones and wood debris at the base of a cracked concrete wall. Xu Fu raised his white-haired head, rubbed his mouth, and a little blood seeped from the corner of his mouth.
He didn't know if it was because of the "three-tenths strength when corrupted" rule, or because Kara's fists were stronger than he remembered... However, he had only arm-wrestled with Kara twice outside Lonely Castle, and each time he deliberately held back. Incidentally, both fights resulted in the glacier they were on exploding, causing the water level to rise to eight or nine meters.
At this point, Kara's strength was clearly an order of magnitude greater than before.
Xu Fu was still sitting on the floor. He had just stood up when the Super Girl's black figure reappeared from the edge of the floor. She charged forward, swinging her fists, her black cloak billowing in the air. Xu Fu's pupils contracted. Before he could even get up, just as her fist was about to touch his face, he kicked her hard in the stomach, pinning her down. Then, he swung his leg aside, forcefully throwing Kara to the side, the black cloak leaving a clear mark on the dusty floor.
She crawled a few meters to the side, bracing herself with one hand to stop her retreat, then swung upwards. Intense light already filled her dark pupils, and the instant she flattened her upper body, two red heat-seeing halos enveloped her. Xu Fu leaped into the air, and the next instant, two beams of light blasted the floor he had just been lying on into pieces. Dodging the heat-seeing beams, he increased his speed and threw a powerful punch at Kara.
His strike was faster than a bullet, faster than the human eye could perceive, yet it resonated clearly on Kara's dark retina. She took a half-step back, dodging the attack, and lunged forward to counterattack. Xu Fu swung his hand, and in the instant their fists clashed, a terrifying shockwave swept through the entire building, the dust it kicked up seeming to drape the building in a silken veil.
The two Kryptonians exchanged blows several times at lightning speed, their fists and feet striking the unfinished building. The moment Kara made her move, Xu Fu darted behind her, seizing the brief moment of her hesitation, and delivered a sweeping blow to her temple.
The wind whistled past Kara's ears as a powerful punch slammed into her face. She merely raised her arm to block the blow, without turning around. In that instant, her other arm lashed out with lightning speed, her elbow striking Xu Fu directly in the face. From this violent collision, dust particles in the air formed a ring that expanded with the force of the impact.
Xu Fu crawled back half a meter, his red boots leaving deep marks on the floor. Kara kicked him in the shin with a loud "bang," sounding like the clanging of heavy metal, and Xu Fu fell to his knees, creating another large crater in the floor.
Kara's right fist followed closely behind, and Xu Fu's vision blurred for a moment. His eyes cleared, and he quickly grabbed his wrist with his left hand, blocking the attack. Due to the excessive force, both hands were trembling slightly, and for a moment they were locked in a stalemate.
But all of this lasted only two seconds. Xu Fu's thermal vision broke through the encirclement, and the glowing beam struck Kara's abdomen without hesitation, causing her to fall backward unexpectedly. The beam pierced through layers of steel beams and walls, flying out of the building like a blade in flowing water, smashing through a stack of steel beams piled up on the construction site. Thick yellow dust rose into the air like a raging storm, instantly filling the entire open space.
Xu Fu let out a long breath, jumped off the platform, and quickly cut through the yellow dust to catch up with the fallen Kara. However, deep in the dust, he only saw a huge black shadow breaking through the yellow dust at an unimaginable speed, revealing an iron-black bucket and a yellowish-brown metal shell.
It was an excavator at a construction site. Kara crashed into it at over 400 miles per hour, a speed that even a train would envy.
Xu Fu stopped in his sprint and stretched out his arms to try and grab it. The excavator convulsed violently the moment it hit his palms, then flew into the building behind him, machine and all. After traversing countless layers of steel and wooden planks, the massive machine finally succumbed to the weight and fell apart.
The smoke on the ground exploded, and the Super Girl's black figure shot into the sky like an arrow, cutting through the ever-expanding smoke ring, relentlessly pursuing her. She charged majestically onto the ground where Xu Fu had fallen, only to be met with the impact of an excavator bucket shaped like a baseball bat.
"Kron!"
With a crisp metallic clang, the iron barrel shattered into pieces, colliding with the heavy weight of Supergirl's body, breaking her leg and sending her crashing to the ground in a blunt arc. Kara, however, was stunned by Xu Fu's strength and nearly lost her balance and fell.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Xu Fu darted behind her, grabbed her small hand behind her back with his left hand, and cruelly choked her throat and neck with his right hand. He then lifted her body into the air at supersonic speed, crashing through layers of ceiling in a very short time and soaring into the sky, stopping more than 300 meters above the ground.
"...To be honest, I hate doing this too," he whispered in Kara's ear. "I hope you won't be angry later."
With that, he turned around, grabbed Kara, and hurtled towards the top floor of the building. The ceiling they had just smashed through changed direction, becoming the floor, and was smashed through again. The two Kryptonians hurtled towards the ground, making a sound like drills aimed at the Earth's core.
The moment it crashed into the low-lying area, the shockwave engulfed dust and exploded in all directions. The earth-shattering shockwave swept everything away with unparalleled power, washing away the reinforced concrete and supporting structure of the collapsed building. The billowing yellow dust rose higher and higher until it completely engulfed the huge frame. The poor nearly 100-story skyscraper had reached the end of its life.
The thick dust gradually dissipated. Xu Fu coughed twice, stood up, carrying a pile of wall fragments on his back. He forcefully threw the broken building debris aside and began searching for Kara.
It's quite amusing to think that almost the entire building was pressing down on them.
Xu Fu quickly located Kara, huddled under the layers of rubble, using his X-ray vision. Picking up the fragments, he saw that her uniform had returned to its former red and blue color, and her skin had returned to a pale pink, except for a bruise between her eyebrows. He (Wang Hao) noticed that the black-covered book had been thrown aside, gradually dissipating and evaporating with the swirling black mist.
This thing seems to be the culprit.
Kara lay in the ruins, her eyes closed, her golden hair disheveled, but her breathing was steady and long, as if she had fallen asleep. Xu Fu couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. He jumped down from the rock supporting him, sat down next to Kara, and took the opportunity to pinch her cheek, saying in a deliberately exaggerated tone, "Hey~, the sun is shining brightly, time to get up."
Kara's long eyelashes trembled slightly as she lazily turned around, her tightly wrapped body curves resembling a provocative little snake. She groggily opened her eyelids, her eyes regaining their emerald luster.
“Huh? It’s me…where are you?” Kara asked.
It seems that everyone who has had a similar experience has the same reaction: they don't remember what they did before.
"Ah!" She suddenly cried out in slight pain, rubbing the bruise around her eye, and asked in confusion, "This is...? Did someone hit me just now?"
Xu Fugang was about to explain something, but then swallowed his words, letting out a slightly embarrassed hum, and brought up the topic again: "Yes, it's not too late to talk about it later. We still have a world to save."
Chapter 1757 Elemental Giants
Helena opened the door, and the parishioners entered the church, leading her inside. The church was dark; the sunlight was blocked by smoke, and the dim light filtering through the stained-glass windows created an eerie and terrifying atmosphere.
Black mist filled the entire hall. The masked man in black stood with his back to the crowd, remaining motionless despite the muffled thud of a door being broken down behind him. Dark vortexes passed between each row of chairs and stone statues, even shrouding the statue of Jesus nailed to the cross in darkness.
"So you've been here." The man slowly turned around, revealing a face covered by a central black substance. It was indeed Wesley Diglen, the writer and leader of the Knights. He said weakly, "I've been waiting for a long time."
"Sorry, we were stuck in traffic." Mike gave a light hum, his entire body flashing with green light, and without thinking, he rushed forward: "Now it's time to accept your punches!"
Perhaps no one's dictionary truly contains the word "strategy." Before the two sides could even exchange pleasantries, Mike swung his massive green fist and leaped out of the church with lightning speed, charging towards the bombardier leader. But upon reaching the leader, he couldn't escape even with a quick dodge. With a flick of his right hand, black energy surged forth, shattering the green fist into countless points of light. Meanwhile, Mike 063, suspended in mid-air, was slammed heavily against the ceiling, his body seemingly nailed to the ground, unable to move.
Reckless, unplanned, mischievous. A string of similar words flashed through Helena's mind again, and she couldn't suppress her anger. The leader raised his hands, and two swift black streams rushed towards the remaining three. The three dodged, and dark shuttles pierced the two rows of chairs behind them, leaving gaps.
Helena swiftly raised her crossbow and fired: a red-glowing alloy arrow whistled through the air, striking the black vortex half a meter from the leader's face. The arrow exploded into a blinding fireball, but the flames dissipated as if struck by an invisible barrier.
Cisco stepped aside and threw a punch into the air: his fist emitted a blue shockwave that seemed to tremble even in space. The leader slightly ducked to dodge, and the blue shockwave only shattered a stained-glass window. The leader swayed, and Cisco saw a cloud of black mist rise before his eyes. The next instant, the leader appeared in front of him. Cisco instinctively raised his hands to defend himself, but a domineering black aura pierced his protective force field like a dagger, binding his hands and feet without warning and lifting him into the air.
Just then, Helena silently moved behind her opponent and was about to launch an attack when the leader coolly turned around and forcefully threw Cisco, who was already in mid-air, towards Helena. Half a second later, the two collided in mid-air.
"Frail and weak," the leader commented coldly. Without turning his head, he launched a fake grappling move, pinning Batman, who was hiding in the shadows preparing to launch a sneak attack, to the wall. The dart hidden in his cape fell to the ground with a "whoosh."
"You want to use the power of darkness against me, Dark Knight, but you don't know that I control darkness itself." The leader said coldly, "Before the Center, your power is insignificant. Even so, your existence is the greatest threat to the Center and the only hope for the human world. However, now, the will of the Earth itself is awakening. If you join this holy war, you have no chance of winning."
This was an unbelievable statement. Just as he spoke, strange ripples spread across the waters along the Metropolitan coast, the water level bulging dramatically as if something enormous was trying to emerge from the depths. The water continued to grow, reaching a height of forty or fifty meters, before ceasing its growth and beginning to fold and take shape. The water transformed into two long legs, four powerful arms holding a long sword formed from the water, a transparent head with eyes as black as ink, and a crown atop its head.
This giant, whose body was entirely created from water elements, strode onto the city's ground, its weight of tens of thousands of tons pounding the earth and causing it to tremble.
To make matters worse, he landed outside the war zone, in a safe zone behind the blockade line used by Metropolitan City residents for refuge.
A few blocks away at a construction site, Xu Fu and Kara, fresh from their battle, were about to rush towards the church for backup when they stopped in their tracks upon spotting the massive creature. They agreed, barely glancing at each other, and flew together toward the charging giant.
