Chapter 1813 Cave
A white cloak swept past swarms of nocturnal creatures, and swarms of bats darted out of their seats in terror, darting swiftly into the depths of the cave. Superman effortlessly flew through the endless darkness and bats, landing gently on the artificial platform.
Dim lighting surrounded the platform, and glass display cases and bizarre trophies gave the space a mysterious air. Superman walked among the display cases and found his old friend sitting in a computer chair made from the back of a giant coin, more than a meter tall.
"It's stuffy and dark here, the air is too humid, it's not suitable for humans." Superman walked up the circular steps, his hands behind his back. "Staying here all the time isn't good either."
The figure in front of the computer was still busy, black fingers tapping away on the keyboard. Batman didn't turn around, and said softly, "You don't need to come over here yourself. There's something to say on the screen."
“However, you should go out for a walk every now and then. After all, you're not a nocturnal animal, and you look like you're about to get moldy in that uniform.” Superman frowned. “When was the last time you went out to sunbathe?”
The typing stopped, the chair spun around, and Batman stood up. Unlike Superman, he chose a gray suit somewhere between black and white for his new uniform, which made him look less sinister and terrifying, but far from glamorous either.
“If you’re referring to those two uninvited guests who appeared from another world last week, we’re still trying to find them,” Batman replied curtly. “I don’t have any leads yet, but I’ll let you know if I do.”
“I know.” Superman nodded. The ruler’s gaze only occasionally softened when he was with a few of his closest people, and this old friend, who had almost lived in seclusion underground in Gotham, was one of them.
"But I'm not here to talk about that; I'm here to talk about the holidays."
Superman spoke, casually glancing at the empty cave. Behind each of the sparsely displayed items lay a dramatic story, representing a chapter in Batman's legendary life, but most ended in tragedy. He noticed that most of the glass cases were covered in a thick layer of dust, seemingly untouched for many years.
That was undoubtedly the case, because the person responsible for cleaning was long gone. Alfred was the Wayne family's loyal old butler, who left the mansion when the Lords of Justice had just established their regime. Perhaps this time, the capricious actions of the young lord he was looking after had become unbearable. This was also why Bruce himself rarely returned to the upstairs mansion; every corner of the empty house was covered in dust, perfect for telling ghost stories.
Sometimes Superman can't help but wonder if Bruce, as the only mortal among them, made the greatest sacrifice for the Lord's cause. Gotham City's crime rate has finally dropped to near zero after a century, but how much did this Gotham Knight pay for it...?
"The festival? Of course, I haven't forgotten." Batman's icy voice pulled him back to reality: "I will attend the celebration as Bruce Wayne."
“That’s exactly what I wanted to say.” Superman frowned. “You don’t need to do this. Batman is one of us, and Bruce Wayne is just an ordinary person. He doesn’t need to be so politically hawkish. These opponents can’t hurt us, but they can hurt Bruce Wayne…”
“What does it matter?” Batman replied dryly. “Actually, I think personality doesn’t matter anymore. Bruce is just a mask for Batman, a necessary tool to achieve his ultimate goal, but it’s no longer necessary. I swore at my parents’ graves that the tragedy that happened in Crime Alley that day would never happen again, and now I’ve kept that promise. Gotham City is safer than ever, the Joker is now a drooling, grinning idiot, Gotham City no longer needs Batman, and Batman no longer needs Bruce Wayne.”
“But the Lord still needs Batman,” Superman said firmly. “Your existence cannot be replaced by anyone, neither Bruce Wayne nor the legend you created. You must think about your own safety.”
“The voices against the Lord of Justice are growing louder, and the people need a representative to stand up and show their unwavering support for the Lord’s rule.” Batman turned to the screen and said stubbornly, “Bruce Wayne is a model citizen, and his words will carry weight.”

"Then you'll become the target of everyone's criticism," Superman persisted, "Come on, Bruce, can't you see how stupid this plan is?"
"At the ceremony two days from now, Bruce Wayne will personally sign the huge check and hand it to you." Batman continued to mutter to himself nonchalantly, "I've already sent all the details of the ceremony and security to the computer in the Watchtower. You can familiarize yourself with it when you get back."
Superman stared at him for a while, then sighed helplessly.
He is the most powerful man in the world today, perhaps the most powerful man in human history. He can single-handedly turn the world upside down and shake the heavens and the earth, but he cannot change the stubborn mind of the person standing in front of him, hidden by a gray uniform.
0 ...... ...
He never seemed to be able to change Batman's mind, even when they were still calling themselves the Justice League.
“By the way, be careful of this group of freedom fighters who call themselves the resistance,” Batman said in a cold voice as he turned back to the screen, “they are quite a handful.”
Superman was slightly taken aback: "What, have there been fewer guys like this in the last two years? Is there anything different about this one?"
"Not yet." Batman shook his head. "I haven't figured out their leader or background yet. If you can call it a detective's intuition, I feel these guys are different this time. We'd better be careful."
“Okay, I understand. I’ll take care of it when I have time.” Superman nodded. He didn’t need to think too much about Batman’s words. Since he said he needed special care, so be it. Their long-term working relationship had built up absolute trust.
Before leaving, Superman said, "Seriously, Bruce, you really should leave that damn cave and spend some time in there occasionally. Go to your company or do something else... Otherwise, you'll just get moldy from that damn cave."
"Maybe I want to too," Batman murmured softly.
Superman sighed softly, said nothing more, and turned to fly out of the cave. The wary bats were startled again by the appearance of this giant, and an angry howl echoed from the depths of the darkness.
Chapter 1814 Candlelight Dinner?
For more than a week, Xu Fu has been getting used to his new life in another world. These days, he repeats his life at three o'clock and one o'clock every day, to the point that he has almost started to feel like an ordinary office worker.
His new neighbor had become increasingly shy lately. She would suddenly buy Xu Fu movie tickets regardless of whether he had time or not, and then occasionally take him out to eat. She did it so naturally, as if they were old friends who had known each other for many years and met every week to catch up.
Xu Fu was getting more and more used to her attacks and thought he had developed immunity, but she suddenly found another way to catch him off guard.
Xu Fu squeezed back into the apartment, paused for a moment, and then subconsciously tiptoed towards his room, glancing at the room number to make sure he hadn't made a mistake.
2-a, seems to have no errors...
So, what's the deal with this strange atmosphere surrounding "067"?
A square dining table, covered with a snow-white tablecloth, sat in the center of the room. The candles on the table were the only source of light, their dim glow casting a warm and cozy glow on the dark red walls. On either side of the table was a chair, each bearing a plate of sumptuous dinner.
"Ha, you're finally back to work," Lisa chuckled softly as she came out of the kitchen. "I was wondering how long it would take you to come back."
"There were some urgent tasks in the lab today that required me to work overtime, so I'm a little late... Ah, no, wait, before that, what's with your outfit?" Xu Fu suddenly realized that he had once again been inadvertently dragged into someone else's rhythm, and hurriedly snorted. This scene is starting to look more and more like a virtuous wife preparing dinner at home, waiting for her hardworking husband to return.
What clothes are you wearing?
Lisa's outfit tonight was truly "radiant," enough to captivate at least nine out of ten men. She wore only a thin veil, through which her shapely figure and tight-fitting underwear could be clearly seen, revealing her curves at a glance.
"So, is it pretty?" She put one hand on her hip and smiled slightly. "Never mind, no need to answer, the answer is written all over your face!"
Xu Fu propped his forehead up with his hand, subconsciously shifting his gaze away, unsure of where to look.
“Let’s begin,” Lisa said, sitting down at the table. “No need for thanks. You said you wanted your lovely neighbor to cook dinner tonight? Well, I’ll grant you that little wish.”
"...Did I say such a thing?"
"O? Do you want to?"
Xu thought about it, but he absolutely couldn't say those two words.
Eventually, he gave up.
The dinner began in the warm candlelight, an indescribable atmosphere permeating the air. Xu Fu reluctantly raised his head and, through the candlelight, saw a beautiful woman standing before him, smiling radiantly, looking at him with an alluring and expectant gaze, as if waiting for his opinion on the dinner.
For a fleeting moment, he even felt a slight heartbeat.
But he quickly extinguished the dangerous spark in his mind, realizing he couldn't let things just pass by naturally. He was focused on leaving this world as soon as possible, disappearing from this girl's life forever, which was why he couldn't decisively reject her frequent advances. But now it seemed her attacks were accelerating to the point of spiraling out of control, and if he didn't let her know his stance, things could become even more complicated.
“Well… well,” he said, a little hesitantly, “you know… I already have a girlfriend.”
He looked up and carefully examined the girl sitting opposite him, a little afraid that she would cry out of heartache.
Lisa stared at him for a moment with wide eyes, then covered her mouth and giggled.
"Of course I expected that."
"What?" Xu Fu asked back, "How do you know...?"
“A discerning person can easily tell,” she said with a smile. “You’re absent-minded all day long, and you often look lost and dejected. It’s obvious that you’re thinking about someone, and it’s written all over your face.”
Xu Fu felt a little embarrassed. He remembered that Kara was always inexplicably absent-minded, but it wasn't that obvious, was it?
To be honest, he still sometimes couldn't help but think of Helena... Ever since he discovered that Helena also had special feelings for him, he hadn't known how to interact with her, or even how to erase her image from his mind. At times like these, one of the supercomputer's weaknesses became apparent: every scene, every detail of his first meeting with Helena was vividly imprinted in his mind, including her furrowed brow and her cold, ruthless movements...
He didn't even dare to consider whether he felt the same sympathy for Helena; he instinctively felt that the answer would only complicate his situation further.
All of this happened after he figured out how to get back. Now, in this world, he must decide how to face the passionate beauty before him.
“And you don’t use social media much, and I rarely see you texting or making phone calls.” Lisa was like a scout studying a prisoner. “Could she be far away from here? Maybe somewhere where communication is difficult?”
"Very close." Xu Fu replied helplessly, "Okay... this is from overseas..."
To be precise, it's "outside the sphere," not even on this planet... nor in the universe.
"Ha, so it's a long-distance relationship with many limitations. It's admirable that you're still so loyal... Responsible men are always so adorable."
Hehe, you know I have a girlfriend, and... Xu Fu didn't know how to ask this question.
“Look how scared you are,” Lisa chuckled. “Don’t worry, I didn’t mean to steal your distant girlfriend. I just… well, you probably think I’m a promiscuous woman, right? So enthusiastic towards a complete stranger…”
"No, no, no, no, not at all." Xu Fu waved his arms back and forth.
“5.5 I don’t treat everyone like this.” Her smile stiffened, and her expression unconsciously turned serious. “I just… well, I’m not sure either. But I find you very understanding, and there’s something about you that I find attractive in other people… I have to admit I’m drawn to you. It’s an experience I’ve never had before, and I can’t even tell you why.”
Xu Fu didn't know how to answer, so he remained silent.
"Okay, I'm full. That's enough for today." She swept the remaining food off her plate and then stretched out her slender arm. "I'm going back now. Is it alright if you help me clean up? After all, I've already done half the work."
"Of course, I won't mind," Xu Fu waved his hand.
Lisa stood up and left the room, winking at him as she did so, which made Xu Fu tilt his head again instinctively.
