Chapter 128 Rescuing the Execution Ground and Drilling Through the Tunnel
Chapter 128 Rescuing the Execution Ground and Drilling Through the Tunnel
Lyra cast the Disillusionment Charm on herself, Fred, and George. To be on the safe side, the three of them also cast the Silent Charm several times, gliding like three ghosts to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, where Hagrid's Hut was located.
They hid behind some bushes nearby and watched as Headmaster Dumbledore, Minister of Magic Fudge, Lucius Malfoy, an old man from the committee, and an executioner carrying a sharp axe entered Hagrid's house.
Poor Buckbeak was tied up in the pumpkin patch next to Hagrid's hut.
Leila tiptoed to the door of the cottage and crouched under the window to eavesdrop on the conversation inside.
"Where is that beast?" a cold, unfamiliar voice rang out.
“Out...outside.” In his hoarse voice, Lyra could hear the heartbreak in Hagrid’s voice.
With a creak, the window above Leila's head was pushed open from the inside, and someone stood by the window looking towards the pumpkin patch.
Buckbeak was still leisurely shaking the loose feathers off its wings.
“Yes, it’s right there,” a haughty, deep voice said.
Lyra immediately realized that this was Draco Malfoy's father. After all, both father and son had an annoying arrogance in their tone. She guessed that the platinum young master was probably an imitation, because the eldest Malfoy was even more arrogant.
"Next, I will read the official announcement regarding the execution. Hagrid, you need to listen to it and sign this execution order..."
Upon hearing this, Lyra immediately waved towards the bushes. Fred and George, having received the signal, also tiptoed over. Their task was to release the hippogriff.
Once Hagrid is with the others and Buckbeak is confirmed to be awaiting execution, the execution breakout team can proceed.
"The Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures has decided that Buckbeak, the hippogriff, is guilty and will be executed at sunset on June 6th..."
Inside, Minister of Magic Fudge was still reading that damned official announcement, while Lyra's gaze nervously drifted toward the pumpkin patch.
George and Fred were bowing cautiously to Buckbeak.
This is the proper way to approach a hippogriff: do not offend them, bow first, and wait for a response before proceeding.
The red-haired twins stared into Buckbeak's orange eyes, trying hard not to blink, which Buckbeak might interpret as distrust—just as Fred's eyes were starting to sting and well up with tears, Buckbeak bent his knees, indicating his approval of the two.
Fred walked toward the chains binding Buckbeak, and pulled a small iron gadget from his pocket. It looked like a strange hammer, covered in sharp, protruding teeth, as if it were the fangs of some monster.
This was Lyra's idea. If Buckbeak's chains were broken by a spell or clearly cut by someone, then Hagrid would be suspected of having colluded with someone to release the hippogriff.
Lucius Malfoy, whose intentions are clearly hostile, will undoubtedly relentlessly smear Hagrid.
“The Ministry of Magic is very likely to side with Malfoy,” George said confidently. “Dad said the Malfoy family has donated a lot of Galleons to the Ministry of Magic.”
“So we need to create the illusion that Buckbeak bit through his chains and escaped.” Fred grinned slyly.
While Fred focused on dealing with the chains with his specially made toothed hammerhead, George took care of calming the hippogriff, gently stroking Buckbeak's feathers to signal it to stay quiet and not to agitate.
"...Hagrid, sign here..."
Oh no! After signing the execution warrant, these people are going to come out and watch the execution!
Lyra watched anxiously as Fred continued to frantically hammer the chains in the pumpkin patch not far away. George gestured anxiously, indicating that it was almost over and that Lyra needed to step forward to buy time and slow down the executioner's actions.
It seems we have no choice but to implement Plan B.

In the evening, just as Lyra, Fred, and George slipped out of the castle and headed towards Hagrid's Hut, Harry, Ron, and Hermione, wearing invisibility cloaks, knocked on the door of Hagrid's Hut.
“You shouldn’t have come here!” Hagrid’s face was paler than Christmas snow.
Harry, Hagrid, and his friends didn't want Hagrid to face the execution alone, but soon they saw a group of people coming through the window of the hut, including the headmaster, Minister of Magic Fudge, and a smug-looking Lucius Malfoy.
Obviously, if these people discover that Harry has sneaked out of the castle to find Hagrid, he will be in big trouble.
Hagrid was the first to react, and despite his trembling, he insisted that the three of them leave. Just then, Hermione, who was trying to make tea for Hagrid, suddenly grabbed a milk jug and screamed.
"Ron! It's Scabbers!"
Ron was surprised to catch the mouse that had been missing for a long time, but the mouse was clearly very unwilling to return to its little master's hands. It struggled frantically and tried to escape.
"We're out of time, we have to get out of here!" Hermione shouted.
“You come from the back!” Hagrid nervously led Harry and his two companions to the small gate in the back garden, then had to turn around to greet Dumbledore and his party.
Harry, wearing the Invisibility Cloak, and Hermione and Ron, who stayed as close to him as possible, cautiously made their way toward the castle. But halfway there, a pair of yellow eyes gleamed in the darkness, fixed intently on Ron.
"Crooked Hill!" Hermione cried out, "Get away!"
But this cat also doesn't want to obey its owner's commands.
To make matters worse, the mouse in Ron's hand struggled desperately, eventually slipping through Ron's fingers, falling to the ground, and quickly escaping.
The large, ginger-colored cat gave chase, and Ron simultaneously lifted his invisibility cloak and followed.
Harry and Hermione caught up with Ron, panting, only to be horrified to find a black dog the size of a bear biting Ron's arm and dragging him toward the bottom of the Whomping Willow.
In the blink of an eye, Ron's leg was broken by the note from the Willow Tree, but soon, the dog dragged the broken-legged Ron and miraculously disappeared at the tree roots.
"Ron!" Harry and Hermione exclaimed at the same time.
But soon they too were attacked by the Willow. Hermione's screams kept ringing in Harry's ears. Crookshanks heard his master's cries and, like a flash of lightning, weaved through the Willow's waving branches. He raised his front paw and pressed it against the trunk.
The willow tree froze instantly. It seemed to have turned into a statue, completely still.
Crookshan nimbly slipped into a hole at the base of the tree.
Harry and Hermione, without a second thought, quickly followed him into the mysterious opening.
