Chapter 66 Dark Mage Mordo
Chapter 66 Dark Mage Mordo
Modu stood there, his breathing gradually becoming heavy.
The Holy Lord did not continue speaking; he gave the other party ample time to process this information.
"You're wavering," the Holy Lord said calmly. "That's normal. Anyone would waver if a belief that someone has held onto for half their life were suddenly proven wrong."
"I haven't wavered," Mordo's voice was a little hoarse. "I just need time to think."
"What are you thinking about?"
The Holy Lord laughed and said, "Consider how long your teacher actually lived? Consider the price she paid to protect this planet? Or consider whether the moral principles you've always been so proud of are simply because you've never faced a real choice?"
Mordo looked up, angrily saying, "You know nothing!"
Hearing Mordo's roar, the Holy Lord did not try to provoke him further. He simply smiled disdainfully and narrowed his eyes, looking at Mordo as if he were a clown.
Thunder rumbled again outside the sealed room.
Wang calmly said, "I can't let you in, at least not this way."
"So, what method do you want to use?"
Blue arcs of electricity began to crackle from Thor's hammer: "Trying to reason with me? Or will you try those little golden chains again?"
Wang sighed, and a scepter appeared in his hand, his usual magical artifact.
Wang's voice remained calm: "I just want you to hear my reasons; it's not what you think."
Thor sneered, "Not as I expected? I can truly feel the presence of darkness."
"Like I said, I understand your concerns."
Wang sighed: "But please believe me, this matter is not that simple."
Just as the King was still locked in a stalemate with Saul, the gates of the Sanctuary opened again, and the Holy Lord emerged from within, followed by Wanda.
Thor's gaze immediately locked onto the Holy Lord, his eyes narrowed slightly, and a flash of electricity appeared in his pupils.
"You have the aura of dark magic about you," Thor said in a hostile tone.
"Thor, son of Odin."
The Holy Lord's attitude was completely different from Saul's: "I know you. How are you getting along with your brother? Oh, I almost forgot, you're the one who escorted him back."
Don't give me that.
Thor took a step forward, the arcs of electricity crackling on Mjolnir: "I'm asking you, are you abusing dark magic?"
The Holy Lord did not answer immediately, but chuckled lightly: "Didn't the King explain to you that I can control dark magic?"
"That's impossible," Thor's voice boomed. "Dark magic is uncontrollable; it only brings disaster. I've lived this long and seen it far too many times."
As soon as Thor finished speaking, the gates of the Sanctuary opened again, and Mordo walked out.
His steps were more steady than ever before, each step making a dull thud on the stone steps.
Wang subconsciously turned his head to look, and the words he was about to use to persuade Saul got stuck in his throat.
He sensed Mordo's presence.
As one of the most senior sorcerers in Kamar-Taj, and as the guardian of the Sanctuary personally appointed by the Ancient One, he sensed the presence of dark magic in his companion of many years.
Wang suddenly felt a little suffocated. The door to the secret room was still open. After the Holy Lord and Wanda left, only Mordo was left inside.
"Modu..."
Wang felt his throat was incredibly dry: "What did you do?"
Mordo didn't speak, but stood a step behind the Holy Lord, looking calmly at Thor.
Thor had already raised his hammer, Mjolnir, his eyes fixed on Mordo: "Another one. Is your Sanctuary a haven for dark magic?"
"Thor, calm down!" The king raised his hand, and a golden magic circle spun in his palm.
Mordo finally spoke, his voice calm: "Dark magic can indeed be controlled."
"You're insane!"
The once calm king suddenly lost his composure. Mordo, without the Mind Stone, could not control his desires like the Holy Lord.
"I'm fine now, Your Majesty," Mordo interrupted him.
Wang was stunned when he saw Mordo's eyes.
Those eyes lacked the murky madness common in dark magic, and the hollow fanaticism that comes from being consumed by power.
Modu's gaze was clear, calm, and even more composed than usual.
That's impossible.
The king's heart skipped a beat. Could it be that ordinary mages could also master dark magic?
He had been practicing in Kamar-Taj for so many years and had seen too many cases of people being devoured by dark magic, but Mordo was indeed conscious. Although the dark aura on his body was present, it was unusually stable and showed no signs of backlash.
This completely violates all the common sense about magic that the king knows!
"Let me in."
Thor ignored Mof's unusual behavior: "No matter what tricks you use to make that mage appear normal, dark magic is dark magic! I've seen the dark elves of Asgard, the fallen dwarves of Nidweal, and the cursed creatures of Vanaheim, and they all think they can control the dark!"
The Holy Lord chuckled softly: "And then?"
"Then they were all devoured." Thor gripped the hammer handle, his voice growing louder: "Dark magic isn't a weapon, it's a demon! You think you're using it, but it's actually using you! By the time you realize it, you're no longer yourself."
"So you're going to smash the problem with a hammer?"
The Holy Lord tilted his head: "It fits the mindset of those brutes in Asgard."
Thor was thoroughly enraged by the word "brute," and dark clouds churned in the sky as a thick bolt of lightning struck the steps in front of the Sanctuary.
"Say it again." Thor stared at the Holy Lord.
The Holy Lord remained unmoved, his smile unchanged: "I say, the Asgardian way of solving problems is always to smash them with a hammer. Odin has been sitting on his throne thinking for so many years, and your family tradition hasn't changed at all."
Wanda stood half a step behind the Holy Lord, staring at Thor, ready to make a move at any moment.
"Sol".
The king made a final effort, holding his scepter horizontally in front of him: "You stormed into the Sanctuary and shattered the barrier, and now you want to fight back? Have you considered the consequences?"
"as a result of?"
Thor laughed loudly: "I've seen you Earthlings talk about consequences, but it's usually before you do something stupid. Step aside, librarian. I don't think I'm doing anything stupid right now."
Thor's hammer flew from his hand, aimed straight at Shendu's face.
The Holy Lord did not move. A deep red magical hand appeared before him, firmly gripping the hammer, preventing Thor's hammer from advancing even an inch.
Looking at Thor's hammer before him, Shendu recalled the legend of the hammer in the Marvel universe: only those recognized by Thor's hammer can lift it, which is why Hulk couldn't lift it and Thanos couldn't catch Thor's hammer attacks.
However, the hand that Wanda conjured was an energy body, not a living being. Without the enhancement of Thor's hammer training, and with Thor's strength not even as great as Hulk's, Wanda could easily block it.
Thor's pupils contracted slightly; this was yet another type of energy he had never seen before.
