Chapter 47: You will see the red lightning strike on the second day.
Chapter 47: You will see the red lightning strike on the second day.
Seeing Lucas suddenly walk towards the strangely shaped "tree," Eleven hesitated for a few seconds before quickly following.
Upon closer inspection, she discovered a cave at the base of the "tree".
The cave entrance was narrow and the interior was dark, filled with a hazy mist, making it impossible to see the specific scene inside.
As soon as he got close, Eleven immediately smelled a familiar musty, damp, and rotten odor.
It resembled the monster with a splitting head that Dustin called the Demon King, but the concentration here was significantly higher, making her shudder.
She really wanted to ask what was inside, but the indifferent-looking boy next to her clearly didn't intend to give her the chance.
The other party appeared unhurried, but moved with incredible speed, plunging headlong into the fog-shrouded cave without any pause.
Compared to the cramped entrance, the space inside is surprisingly large, roughly equivalent to two basketball courts.
All around were jagged tree roots, exposed to the air, intertwined like giant pythons.
Some sharp roots broke through the dry, hard soil beneath their feet, like jagged bone spurs leaning upwards, their tops gleaming with a dark, cold light.
On those tree roots, there grew some kind of swollen, tumor-like growths with a pale yellow sheen, making the inside look like dusk.
His gaze shifted away from these bizarrely shaped life forms, and Eleven subconsciously looked up, his pupils suddenly contracting.
At the very front of the tree hole, a familiar, ferocious figure was suspended in mid-air.
More than ten black, wriggling tubular tentacles extended down from the shadows at the top of the tree hole, slanting into the back of the other's head, rising and falling constantly, beating slowly like a heart.
"Hasn't he already...?"
Looking at this humanoid body, whose head had been violently destroyed in the Reverse World's old mansion but was now completely intact, Eleven looked at Lucas walking ahead with a puzzled expression.
Before he could even ask a question, a heavy, slow breathing suddenly reached his ears.
Eleven immediately went on high alert, and in his line of sight, the humanoid body moved.
After a violent tremor, the eyeballs, veiled by a layer of grayish-white film, slowly opened the dormant Vekner's will and looked at the eleven who were standing by in anticipation:
"We meet again, Eleven. Or rather, you've finally arrived, even though it's not at the time I expected, but you still seem so brave and selfless."
Hearing the other person recount their experiences directly, Eleven asked with a grave expression, "You really are... Peter Badra?"
"You already have the answer in your heart, so why ask me again? After all, you were the one who personally sent me into this unimaginable world."
"Thump..."
A dull thud echoed as the plane landed.
"Speaking of which, I should thank you. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have been able to open that door and come into contact with this thing that could overturn everything."
"Why did you do this?" Eleven questioned.
"You know why. This world isn't worth saving; it's full of filth and hypocrisy."
"But some people are innocent."
"Innocent? No one is innocent, just like when an avalanche happens, no snowflake is innocent." Vickner shook his head expressionlessly.
"By the way, how is your mother? I know you already know where that poor woman is, and you know even more clearly what that poor mother went through..."
At this point, Viktor slowly nodded his head: "Yes, I saw it too."
Upon hearing the word "mother," Eleven's body immediately tensed up.
Shortly after her birth, she was forcibly taken to the Hawkins Laboratory by Brenner Union Hospital under the pretext of a miscarriage.
But poor Ms. Terry Ives was convinced she was alive. After her lawsuits and calls to the police went unanswered, she stormed into the laboratory with a gun and was eventually electrocuted by Brenner with a 450-volt shock to the brain, resulting in permanent catatonic disorder.
Even so, the poor woman still did not forget to search for herself, but she could never find herself again.
Only in the ocean of consciousness can Eleven hear his mother call him "child".
Overwhelmed by grief and anger, Eleven shouted, each word sharp and forceful, "You...are...not...to...say...any...more...words..."
Under the control of telekinesis, the sand and gravel on the ground trembled violently, and then rose uncontrollably into the air.
With a piercing buzzing sound, it was like countless bullets shooting towards Viktor.
But when they were less than a meter away from each other, the gravel suddenly stopped. Two streams of psychic energy clashed, and the gravel was crushed into powder and scattered from the air.
"The person you should be angry with is not me. I've always told you, we're the same kind of people."
Vickner turned around, his gaze shifting from Eleven to Lucas, who also appeared expressionless, like a poker face.
"I had imagined countless obstacles, but I never thought that you would become my biggest obstacle."
"You shocked me like never before, and you also showed me an energy that exists outside of superpowers."
Vikner said slowly:
"To be honest, we can join forces to transform this dirty world and these dirty humans."
I can sense that you also despise these worldly rules and systems; deep down, you possess the innate courage to overturn the established order...
You and I are alike; neither of us wants to succumb to this corrupt world.
Lucas raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms: "I admit, if you went to teach psychology at a university or opened your own clinic, you would be a very good psychology teacher, and might even become a famous psychology expert."
"So you agree with my suggestion?" Vickner was somewhat surprised by Lucas's reaction.
The other person's consciousness was like a towering wall, almost impossible for him to peek into, so he could not possibly know what Lucas was really thinking.
These words were merely his habitual rhetoric.
"No, no, no, I just want things to be simple. I need to gain control of this world. In exchange, you can see the red lightning fall the next day," Lucas interrupted Vickner.
"...Your jokes are really funny."
After a full ten seconds of silence, Viktor said in a cold voice.
"You don't naively think that destroying my body will guarantee victory, do you?"
Viktor put his hands behind his back and floated back into the air:
"Now, welcome to this pristine land untouched by humankind—my kingdom!"
The moment the sound fell.
An unprecedented tremor suddenly emanated from the cave.
Immediately afterwards, the entire cave, along with the withered tree canopy, instantly transformed into visible black particles of light, which then appeared in an open area not far away.
Like a storm, dark particles twisted and swirled in the air, merging and mixing together to eventually form a gigantic monster that was over ten meters tall, with rough and hard appendages and jagged bone spurs growing at its joints.
Spider-form Mind Flayer.
The Mind Flayer's form is not actually fixed. The reason it is displayed in this form is entirely because Vekner has been obsessed with spiders since childhood.
"Boom boom boom!"
"Bang bang bang!"
Immediately afterwards, with lightning speed, a spider leg, its surface covered in bone armor, as huge as a mountain pillar, and as sharp as a rock horn, crashed down towards Lucas.
"No!" Eleven's face turned pale instantly, and she hurriedly spoke up.
But the next moment, before the worry on her face had faded, it was replaced by an expression of disbelief.
As the dust settled,
The boy actually withstood this unimaginable blow with his bare hands.
The opponent raised its hands high, allowing the giant, thick spider leg to press down with all its might, but it could not go down even an inch further.
