051 Dragon Shadow
051 Dragon Shadow
The dragon servant was thrown back by the suddenly appearing golden light screen, quickly regaining its footing in mid-air, its dark golden vertical pupils glaring angrily at the figure in front of it. In the previous few exchanges, it had been able to exchange blows with the people on the ship and had the upper hand. But this suddenly appearing human had completely thwarted its plans.
Soon, the probing attack arrived. The giant beast roared, its long body folded and sprang up along the river surface, leaping up in front of Lu Mingfei and slamming its giant claws down on his head.
Clang!
Five golden hexagonal light screens appeared out of thin air, arranged in parallel, their thin edges forming the sharpest blades in the world.
Like a hot blade cutting through butter, even bronze armor scales that a 12.7mm machine gun couldn't penetrate, instantly cracked open with a huge gap in front of this absolutely smooth geometric edge.
"Aww!"
The dragon servant roared in agony, its massive forepaw breaking off and crashing into the river with a deafening boom. Dark golden dragon blood cascaded down from mid-air like a waterfall, igniting plumes of white smoke on the deck. The dragon servant's enormous body writhed in agony in the air before plummeting back into the deep water and rapidly receding into the distance.
The suffocating feeling that had been pressing down on everyone instantly disappeared.
Aki exhaled a long breath, trembling. She took out the fuse and carefully put the alchemical torpedo back in.
Grayson coughed up blood and weakly nudged Ye Sheng beside him. "Hey, this kid... was he this fierce underwater too? Or is he even more freakish up there?"
"Down there?" Ye Sheng looked up. "In the bronze city where tens of thousands of tons crashed down, he was even more of a monster than he is now."
Professor Mans, supported by Selma, leaned against the twisted gunwale. His chest heaved with labored, bellows-like breaths, but his gaze pierced through the rain, recalling a week ago.
Under the sunlight, the surface of the Yangtze River resembled a golden ribbon, calm and still. Cigar smoke curled upwards from the cabin as Principal Angers leaned back on the sofa, gazing at the river.
The day of freedom had just ended when Lu Mingfei sent Caesar and Chu Zihang flying and launched a scathing attack on the teaching methods of Kassel College over the phone.
"This...this is your rating of S-level?" Mans didn't think Lu Mingfei was arrogant; he just felt that Lu Mingfei seemed a little mentally unstable.
Angers flicked his cigarette ash. "Mans, the academy has never lacked good students; we need a tyrant..."
Mans snapped out of his thoughts and chuckled softly, "Angers, you madman, you've really brought a tyrant upon yourself."
"It's here again!" Selma shouted anxiously as she saw a whirlpool suddenly appear on the water's surface.
The dragon servant's massive body suddenly tumbled in the river, creating a violent curtain of water tens of meters high, which, mixed with the previously broken bronze scales and steel fragments, crashed down on everyone on the Moniah.
Lu Mingfei's eyes lit up, and hexagonal light shields rapidly arranged themselves in front of him, instantly forming a planar defense several meters high, blocking everyone's way.
"boom!"
The giant wave was shattered by the light screen, and countless fragments bounced off like bullets. But Lu Mingfei's shoulder suddenly slumped down, he groaned, and his already pale face instantly lost all color, two streams of blood trickling down his nose.
The dragon servant underwater stopped, its ancient and venomous golden eyes peering intently at the boy in mid-air through the murky river water.
Its millennia of combat experience allowed it to immediately detect the inconsistency in its opponent; the hybrid seemed less powerful than it had imagined. The enemy's muscles trembled, blood flowed from his body, and his incantations were rapidly draining his life force.
It narrowed its eyes, slowly sank down, and disappeared from everyone's sight.
"Selma, tell everyone to hide in the cabin behind Lu Mingfei and not to disturb him!" Mans said to Selma with difficulty, his throat beginning to ache from excessive chanting and vocalization.
"Everyone! Get inside, quick!" Selma helped Mans open the hatch and shouted loudly on the deck.
"Splash—"
The moment everyone left the deck and entered the ship, Long Shi charged out from the deep water, his massive tail whipping up a metal cylinder over ten meters long. A section of the broken mast flew through the waves, and Long Shi, like throwing a heavy javelin, slammed it down on Lu Mingfei with all his might!
Lu Mingfei blocked with a backhand motion, the light screens nested in layers.
"Thump!!"
A dull thud exploded on the river surface as the tip of the metal mast slammed into the golden polyhedron. The steel column shattered inch by inch from the point of impact, piercing through layers of defenses and, amidst fragments of three layers of light screens, finally came to rest on the fourth layer before plunging into the waves.
The light screen remained intact, but the boy who had been supporting the barrier suddenly bent over and vomited a mouthful of blood. The blood dripped down the light screen beneath his feet onto the deck, where it was washed away by the heavy rain.
Lu Mingfei's knees trembled uncontrollably, his vision blurred, and his ears were filled with a sharp buzzing sound.
He gasped for breath. Without LCL solution as a buffer, without an indestructible composite armor body, this human body was far too fragile. Even though the Absolute Territory isolated all direct damage, the sheer load of the high-intensity field itself was relentlessly squeezing his body and mind. If he could withstand a few more physical attacks of this level, he would explode from the inside out, like a tomato being heated in a microwave.
But the dragon servant wouldn't give him a chance to catch his breath. With a single strike, he retreated, his massive body disappearing into the rolling river, leaving only a trail of white waves that sped rapidly towards the center of the river.
"Five hundred meters, eight hundred meters, one thousand meters..." Ye Sheng clung to the porthole, his bloodshot eyes fixed on the darkness in the distance. "It stopped!"
The previously turbulent water level began to drop abnormally, as if the river was being pulled by some invisible force, rushing back towards the anchor point a kilometer away. At the edge of the night, the faint rumble of thunder, like an army pressing in, could be heard.
Grayson's face turned deathly pale. "Wave-making...it's going to create a giant wave! It wants to crush us with the sheer mass of the entire body of water!"
This beast, which had lived for over a thousand years, displayed a despairingly clever strategy. It abandoned futile close-quarters penetration; instead, it would use a thousand-meter sprint to unleash a colossal wave covering the entire river's surface. It intended to transform the entire Yangtze River into a kinetic energy projectile weighing tens of thousands of tons!
If Lu Ming insisted on protecting the ship behind him, he would have to deploy his maximum defensive range to withstand the attack head-on. However, his physical body couldn't withstand such a large-scale and intense AT field!
Unable to hold on any longer, Lu Mingfei's force field disappeared, and he staggered and fell onto the deck.
"Hold him up!" Everyone rushed onto the deck, intending to face the final attack together with Lu Mingfei.
"Ye Sheng, follow it."
"I only have enough strength for one last high-intensity long-range attack." Lu Mingfei's tired face was filled with raging anger. "Bring out all the firepower that can still be used on the ship, disrupt the structure of that wave, and force it to the surface."
