Operation Rock
Operation Rock
The square was completely stripped bare.
Metal trash cans, guardrails, lampposts, and manhole covers were all loaded onto trucks and transported away; even the row of cast iron carvings along the edge of the church steps were pried off.
The newly awakened King of Bronze and Fire has a limited domain, and his powers are halved here.
The students regrouped in the wet mud, their evening gowns covered in mud and dust, unrecognizable from their original state.
Ye Sheng took off his tuxedo jacket and threw it into the trash can, then walked towards Caesar and Chu Zihang.
"Is the assault team still short-handed?" he asked.
"We don't lack anything," Caesar said.
"My physical fitness—"
"Follow the blue plan of Operation Rock," Caesar said. "It's a fixed structure, so it's not convenient to add more people."
"Operation Rock Solid?" Ye Sheng was taken aback.
Chu Zihang then looked up from the map and glanced at him.
"This is a joint exercise conducted by the student council and the Lionheart Society over the past month," he said. "The hypothetical targets are the Earth and the King of the Mountains. We have practiced shield formations and rotations many times, and the personnel have been finalized."
Ye Sheng felt that the younger generation was truly surpassing the older generation. Originally, an S-level was already incredibly powerful, but now there was a group of people who were actually practicing against the Dragon King every day, and this time it actually came in handy.
Incredible, incredible.
It seems he made the right decision to retire; otherwise, he would have been left far behind once these people graduated.
"You can join the fire support group," Chu Zihang said. "Stand behind the shield wall and fire in short bursts. This doesn't require coordination; just follow orders."
Ye Sheng turned to leave, but after a couple of steps he stopped, turned back, and asked, "What does 'Blue Case' mean?"
"It's a tactic used under extreme conditions," Chu Zihang said. "The red plan is a collective attack, while the blue plan is a dispersed attack."
"I see." Ye Sheng ran towards the support vehicle. Aki carried the equipment to the defensive line and looked up to see Ye Sheng running towards the support vehicle. She wiped the mud off her forehead and turned to walk towards Caesar and Chu Zihang.
"Where is Lu Jun?" She walked up to Caesar and got straight to the point.
Caesar glanced at her.
"Not here."
"Isn't this the time when we need him the most?" Aki spoke much faster than usual. "The Dragon King has already emerged from the ice cellar; only Lu Mingfei's Words of Power can confront him head-on—"
“He left the ball an hour ago,” Caesar interrupted her. “Norma notified everyone the moment the explosion happened, and he should be on his way.”
Aki opened her mouth in surprise.
Where is he?
"have no idea."
Aki staggered back a few steps. Until this moment, she was certain that Lu Mingfei would appear in the square, just like that night in the Three Gorges, blocking everyone's way.
Her gaze shifted from Caesar's face to Chu Zihang's face, then back to Caesar.
"But, if it weren't for Lu Jun..." She had expected to see the same panic on the faces of these two people as she did, but there wasn't even a trace of it.
"This isn't a battle he fought alone," Chu Zihang said. "Every exercise we've conducted so far has been for this moment."
Aki shook her head. Without Lu Mingfei, facing the Dragon King would be a despairing experience...
"Aki." Selma walked over from the side carrying a first-aid kit. "Come with me to the medical team to help out. Zero's team is short-staffed."
"...Okay." Aki snapped out of her daze and nodded.
In the center of the square, Constantine walked barefoot into the mud, and the sand beneath his feet instantly turned into glass.
Norma's voice came through everyone's headphones.
"Constantine has entered the combat zone. All units, open fire."
The students in the square began firing; Frigga's bullets disintegrated in mid-air, turning into wisps of pungent chemical smoke.
"The core temperature is too high to launch an effective attack."
Mans stared intently at the infrared display screen in the temporary command post. In the center of the screen was a bright, incandescent object whose outline was indistinguishable, with concentric heat waves radiating outwards.
"Attack ineffective! There's a wall of heat in front of him! Frigga's bullets are subsonic fusion projectiles; they can't penetrate them."
Feedback came through the communication channel from the frontline observers.
"Cease fire," Schneider ordered into the communicator. "Norma, immediately pump water into the square!"
"Command confirmed. Main valve released from restrictions, pressure rising across the entire high-pressure fire suppression network." Norma's voice echoed throughout the war zone's broadcast system.
"All units, listen up! Reorganize on the spot according to your tactical functions!" Caesar issued the order. "Those with airflow guidance and cooling capabilities, immediately assign them to the 'Environmental Control Group'! Lancelot, you take command! Those with geological modification capabilities, assign them to the 'Terrain Engineering Group', and move closer to Chu Zihang!"
"Terrain engineering team, advance along the bottom edge of the church steps!" Chu Zihang pointed ahead of Constantine, "Construct a circular dam! Retain all the water Norma brought in."
A dozen or so boys ran out of the crowd, led by Percy. He knelt down on one knee in the scalding mud, pressing his palms to the ground.
This is the Dragon King simulation team from Operation Rock. During the exercise, they played the role of the crustal reaction layer beneath the King of Mountains and Earth, tearing the earth apart and crushing their opponents. Tonight, they will use that power in reverse.
Percy took a deep breath.
Words of Power: A Dustless Land.
The repulsion field suddenly lifted the ground up, and the same action happened simultaneously on both sides of Percy. The members of the Dragon King simulation team worked together to turn the surface of the ground up.
The mud, gravel, broken pipes, and concrete blocks gushing from underground were pushed towards the edge of the depression by the repulsion field, slamming them into a rough, circular embankment. The embankment was one meter high, and the central section was already ankle-deep in floodwater from the fire department.
The originally flat square has been transformed into a huge reservoir.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Under Norma's control, all the nearby high-pressure fire hydrants burst simultaneously, and thick, white high-pressure water jets, like cannonballs, crashed into Constantine in the center of the mud pit from all directions.
"Environmental Control Team," Lancelot ordered, "use your Words of Power to create a negative pressure zone! Cool and guide the water flow in the air!"
All sorts of magical words converged in the same direction under Norma's unified tactical command.
The water jets from the fire hoses were forcibly cooled in mid-air, forming large, sharp ice crystals. Then, they were swept up by various wind-based spells, transforming into a violent glacial storm that crashed down on Constantine.
The nearby ice water melted instantly, boiled, and turned into water vapor at hundreds of degrees Celsius, expanding rapidly and instantly reducing visibility.
"Everyone, seal up any openings in your clothing, put on masks, and make sure no skin is exposed!" Lancelot coughed violently outside the white mist. "Environmental control team, push the steam upwards!"
All the students covered their collars and cuffs with wet mud, and steam roared over their heads; no one dared to expose their skin.
The entire battlefield turned into a terrifying pressure cooker.
