Chapter 2: A Cataclysmic Start, Was I Tricked?
Chapter 2: A Cataclysmic Start, Was I Tricked?
"What?"
Xu Lun was stunned; he didn't understand what the other person was saying.
"Taskte...Kudasai..."
The other person repeated it, and this time grabbed Xu Lun's arm with their other hand.
But Xu Lun still didn't understand.
The lights in the surrounding environment continued to flicker, their intermittent brightness causing him great disturbance.
But just then, a rustling sound caught Xu Lun's attention.
It felt as if a group of people were whispering in an obscure language, chanting incantations.
The sound seemed to be coming from above.
Xu Lun looked up and saw a scene he would never forget:
In front of each of the flickering windows upstairs, a shadowy figure resembling a human stood.
The entire wall was covered in them.
Those dark figures clearly had no eyes, but they gave the feeling that they were all staring at you.
Or more accurately, it's looking in its own direction—
Xu Lun suddenly turned around and looked at the girl with pink hair.
Her appearance was so heartbreaking; her pale face and brown eyes, under the flickering light, revealed a trace of helplessness and despair.
"They're after you, aren't they?" Xu Lun asked.
The girl paused for a moment, then nodded.
"I see."
Xu Lun picked up the safety helmet and put it directly on the girl's head, personally putting it on for her.
"Leave it to me!" he said solemnly.
"Heaven rewards the diligent! I've waited a full 24 years, missing out on annulment, time travel, marrying into another family, and cultivating immortality. Today, it's finally my turn to be the protagonist!"
Xu Lun suddenly became unusually excited. He grabbed the girl's hand and prepared to let her get into the car.
However, the girl refused.
"It's too late, get in the car quickly!" Xu Lun reminded him.
He tried to pull her back again, but the girl still refused.
What's going on?
Xu Lun was a little embarrassed.
The next second, the girl grabbed his hands tightly and said cautiously:
"Red bean paste... Moses, dig it open and stuff it in immediately..."
Oh my god...
Xu Lun finally understood.
So this pink-haired girl in front of me is from a country where life is pretty good.
But what exactly is she trying to do? Wait…
Xu Lun suddenly noticed something:
On the wrist of the hand that was being held tightly by the other person, it felt like there was something new there—
It's something like a jade bracelet?
Unfortunately, the lights were too bright, and Xu Lun couldn't see what it was at all.
Before he could react, the girl suddenly let go of his hands and ran away without looking back.
Xu Lun stood there dumbfounded.
"No... why are you running away... what's going on..."
He quickly turned around and glanced back.
This sight was so terrifying that it made me wet myself on the spot:
The dark figures that had been standing on the windowsill were now gradually climbing down the wall!
That's right. Although they look like some kind of humanoid creature, they crawl on all fours and only switch to walking on two legs after landing. However, their overall posture looks extremely strange.
Even more strangely, they seemed to pay no attention to the girl who had run away, and instead surrounded themselves.
Is it because of this?!
Xu Lun immediately thought of the extra thing on his wrist.
Clearly, the girl who ran away earlier put this on him; he had been tricked.
"Damn it... X!"
At that moment, Xu Lun felt like the sky was falling.
"I, Xu Lun, have never done anything against my conscience in my life, why are you treating me like this!"
He tried to remove the thing from his wrist as soon as possible, but found that it was surprisingly tight, as if it were stuck to his skin, without any gaps or movement.
The dark figures were getting closer and closer to him.
Xu Lun couldn't worry about anything else; he could only start his electric scooter and get away as quickly as possible!
With a "whoosh!", he sped off with his car, chasing after the direction the girl had fled in, racing all the way.
The wind howled in his ears, and Xu Lun instinctively turned around to look:
The dark figures stood frozen in place, seemingly unaware of what had happened.
However, the next second, the shadowy figures turned their heads. Although they did not have real eyes, they gave the feeling that they were staring at you, which was very eerie.
Xu Lun didn't dare to look any longer. He turned around and continued driving the electric scooter at a high speed, rushing out of the dark street.
He came to a better-lit road, turned a corner, and then continued to accelerate.
He didn't see the girl and wandered aimlessly around the road like a headless fly.
Just then, his phone rang again, this time with a video call notification tone.
But Xu Lun doesn't even have time to look at his phone these days.
Because he heard that rustling sound again.
Furthermore, the streetlights on both sides of the road, as well as the shop signs and light boxes, began to flicker intermittently.
Xu Lun knew that this was caused by those dark figures; they hadn't been shaken off, and had even caught up with him!
But he dared not look back, and could only desperately continue to rush forward!
The phone kept ringing, and the sound, which he wasn't usually bothered by, now seemed particularly jarring, even triggering his anxiety.
Under intense external stimulation, his heart began to pound wildly in his chest.
Xu Lun's brain had lost its ability to think; he was only running away on instinct.
In order to get rid of the shadow, he instinctively wanted to go to a crowded place.
But it was already midnight, and there weren't many pedestrians on the street, and many shops had already closed.
Apart from the row of cars parked on the side of the road, there was no bustling traffic as during peak hours.
Even when he occasionally encounters one or two commercial vehicles, Xu Lun quickly passes by them without daring to ask for their help.
He heard strange noises from the shadowy figure echoing above him.
Even though the electric scooter was already traveling at over 60 km/h, and the sound of the wind was far behind him, the rustling sound that made his scalp crawl was getting closer and louder.
The streetlights on both sides of the street began to flicker wildly, and even the streetlights not far ahead started to do the same.
A massive darkness had already arrived behind Xu Lun, as if it would devour him at any moment.
Xu Lun sped up, almost breaking the handlebars of the electric scooter.
However, the electric scooter had already reached its maximum speed, and no matter how he twisted the knob, it couldn't go any faster.
Just then, a dark figure flew past his head and rushed to the front.
In an instant, all the lights around went out.
