Chapter 13 Tidal Core and the Trident
Chapter 13 Tidal Core and the Trident
The light refracted into scattered, ethereal blue hues in the five-meter-deep pool. In this dim, icy depths, a strikingly incongruous geometric structure stood silently.
It was a ring-shaped frame made of dozens of pieces of sea crystal.
At the center of the frame, a fist-sized cube shimmering with blue light is suspended in the water; that is the core of the tidal surge.
The Tidal Core, crafted from the Heart of the Ocean, can provide special assistance when activated by being surrounded by aquamarine of a specific structure.
"Do you think I built this pool down here just to make it look nice?" Pei Qi sneered inwardly.
As a seasoned electricity enthusiast, Pei Qi's actions are mostly based on "maximizing profits".
Pei Qi wouldn't deliberately do anything meaningless; the placement of this pool at the bottom naturally had its own considerations.
Although demons have powerful bodies, their near-limitless regenerative abilities and superhuman strength allow them to become killing machines on land.
But even in this cold water, they are still unable to break free from their biological shackles.
At this moment, Gyutaro was trying to swing his pair of poisoned scythes, which were wreathed in blood. But in Pei Qi's eyes, his movements were frighteningly slow.
Each swing of his arm had to overcome enormous viscous resistance; the water flow was like a series of viscous shackles, forcibly suppressing the speed of Upper Moon Six to less than one-third of its peak.
The core of the Tidal Surge was a special structure that Pei Qi specially built while searching for redstone materials in various Hidden Shadow Berries.
Within the influence range of this surging core, Pei Qi not only gained the ability to breathe underwater, but his vision also became as clear as daytime.
Most importantly, the ancient blessing from the ocean completely eliminated the resistance he faced in the water. It even gave him a sense of forward momentum.
This allowed Pei Qi to move in the water at a speed almost identical to, or even slightly faster than, that on flat ground.
"Although it took a lot of effort to rummage through that mess of Shadow Shells to find Sea Crystals and Hearts of the Ocean, this investment was definitely worth it," Pei Qi thought.
"Whoosh—!"
Pei Qi's figure traced a minimalist arc in the water, effortlessly passing over Gyutaro's seemingly fierce horizontal slash.
Immediately afterwards, he slashed down with the Nether Alloy Sword in his hand.
A dark purple light flowed across the sword's blade; this was no ordinary enchantment, but rather an undead killer specifically designed to target these dark creatures.
Gyutaro raised his withered arm to try to block, but the moment the longsword touched his skin, the terrifying destructive force was like a silent explosion.
The demon's body, which could originally withstand the Nichirin Blade, now seemed as fragile as paper.
The black blade easily severed the bones, even vaporizing the entire piece of flesh into particles that drifted in the water.
Prior to this, Gyutaro had already exhausted a great deal of his physical strength in order to withstand the close-range explosion of nearly a hundred TNT bombs.
Now, his body is covered with scorching cracks that cannot heal quickly, and those twisted granulation tissues are writhing wildly, trying to repair his broken limbs.
However, Pei Qi's killing efficiency was too high.
Even though Pei Qi's sword didn't have the same instant-kill effect on the neck as the Nichirin Blade, the massive damage boost from the Undead Slayer enchantment completely crippled Gyutaro's regeneration speed.
"Monster...this isn't human behavior at all..."
Gyutaro felt despair. It was an overwhelming feeling he had never experienced from an opponent since his humble human days.
The man before them wore armor so heavy it would sink an ordinary person instantly, yet he behaved completely inhuman underwater.
There is absolutely no chance of winning.
He knew in his heart that if this dragged on any longer, he and his sister would be ground to pieces by this heartless tin can.
Escape? The thought flashed through his mind, but he quickly suppressed it. He could leave, but the severely wounded Daki could not possibly survive that black sword.
"Then... let's try a different approach." A resolute, fierce glint flashed in Gyutaro's dark green eyes.
Just as Pei Qi thrust his sword forward again, Gyutaro surprisingly abandoned all parrying.
He frantically spread his arms, letting the lower-realm alloy sword pierce through his chest.
Amidst the excruciating pain that felt like it could rip his internal organs apart, he let out a roar that sounded inhuman in the water, his withered hands gripping Pei Qi's shoulders like iron clamps.
"Gotcha... Hey, you can't escape now!"
Pei Qi was slightly taken aback. He could sense that Gyutaro's life points had dropped to the red line, but the power that the other party was unleashing at this moment was completely based on the "Last Stand," which completely abandoned defense.
He's stalling for time.
Pei Qi keenly turned his head to look at the spot where the fallen princess had been lying.
Empty.
The previously "coma" Daki has somehow awakened.
Using the blind spot created by Gyutaro's body, she slithered silently along the edge of the pool, like a colorful venomous snake, towards the surging core at the center.
"That glowing sphere... it's the source of everything that's wrong!"
Her century-old combat instincts told her that the blue sphere was the core maintaining Pei Qi's special state. Destroying it would instantly reverse the tide of the battle!
Her tattered ribbon struggled to unfurl in the water; even though the explosion had burned away most of it, the remaining portion still retained a deadly sharpness.
"Just a little bit more... we're almost there!"
Daki's ribbons had almost touched the edge of the sea crystal frame.
A twisted, ecstatic look appeared on her face. With just one strike, just by shattering that ball, her brother could kill this arrogant bastard!
Pei Qi watched this scene quietly, but made no move to break free from the entanglement of the geisha Taro.
"In my game, there are usually only two reasons why I place important buff machines where the opponent can see them: either I'm a complete idiot, or... it's actually a trap."
Pei Qi's palm turned slightly.
The lower-realm alloy longsword that was originally in his hand mysteriously disappeared, and in its place was a heavy weapon with a trident tip that emitted a sea-blue luster.
That was Pei Qi's treasured trident.
Just as the ribbons from the fallen princess were about to unleash their power, Pei Qi suddenly threw his right hand.
The trident created a vacuum-like spiral bubble in the water.
*Thud!*
Daki's ecstasy froze instantly. She looked down at her chest; the deep blue trident had completely pierced her lung, and the immense kinetic energy had pinned her to the sea crystal foundation at the bottom of the pool.
Not finished yet.
Above this deep underground pit, Yoshiwara is currently experiencing severe weather with thunderstorms.
And this trident is engraved with an enchantment called "Lightning Attractor"...
