Chapter 11 Don't give
Chapter 11 Don't give
"yes!"
"So you're saying you'll give all your assets to your son, and you plan to give custody to your husband?"
"Yes. If he comes with me, what if the debt collectors come and try to collect the debt but fail, and then they target him? He's my only son, and I can't bear to see him suffer."
"No," Yu Xingge said seriously, "Don't give it to me."
"What do you mean you won't give it to me?"
Liang Hui also became nervous: "Aren't they going to give us custody?"
Yu Xingge didn't want to intimidate her, but now she strongly suspected that this was a setup targeting Liang Hui, and that her husband was the one behind it.
"Ms. Liang, based on your current description, I strongly advise you not to transfer the house, not to go through the sham divorce, and not to give up custody of the child. You don't even need to repay this debt, forgive my bluntness. I don't see how you've been forced to the point of needing a sham divorce, giving up custody, or transferring the house. Maintaining the status quo is best for you."
"But……"
"There are no 'buts'. Since you consulted a lawyer, it means you already had doubts. Based on your description, my advice to you is to maintain the status quo and not to get a fake divorce. The risks involved are much greater than the risks of maintaining the status quo."
"Are you kidding me?"
Yu Xingge was so angry she almost laughed, before she could even think of what to say.
"But the house has already been transferred to our names, and the divorce proceedings were completed today. What are we going to do?!"
Liang Hui hung up the phone. Although she still felt that this lawyer named Yu was unreliable, and even a bit alarmist, she felt more confident walking to her husband Lin Xiangsong's teaching building, knowing that having an extra layer of security made her feel more at ease.
Liang Hui's uncle used to work for the Education Examinations Authority, a public institution under the Ministry of Education and Culture. He pulled some strings and gave her a boost during the interview. Lin Xiangsong's ability to pass the civil service exam and his teaching skills are beyond question. However, with so many factors to consider during an interview, which one is the deciding factor?
Hard to say.
Lin Xiangsong is currently a teacher at Wenxin Middle School, serving as both a math teacher and homeroom teacher for the second-year junior high students. Because of this, he dislikes visiting her uncle's family during holidays. It's not entirely his fault; he's a very proud person.
She walked skillfully to the third floor, knocked lightly on the door of the eighth-grade teacher's office, and pushed the door open without waiting for a response. Lin Xiangsong, bent over grading homework, came into view. It was almost dinnertime, yet he was still engrossed in his work. Gao Heyun, the eighth-grade English teacher across the hall, saw her first.
"Your sister-in-law is here again?"
Lin Xiangsong then looked up: "Why did you come here?"
Liang Hui smiled and said, "I came to see you." She pulled over a chair and sat down, staring at his thin profile, unsure how to begin.
"What's wrong? Is something the matter?" Lin Xiangsong took off his glasses and rubbed the bridge of his nose. His plaid shirt made him look very scholarly.
"Xiang Song," she reached into her pants pocket for the divorce agreement dictated by her lawyer and printed by a print shop. Gathering some courage, she glanced across at him, then leaned down and moved closer to him.
"What are you doing?" Lin Xiangsong frowned, unconsciously leaning back.
"Sit up straight."
"You can't sit up straight," Liang Hui whispered. "I saw online that there are risks involved in a fake divorce. Who knows, those debt collectors might still be able to find you and collect their debts later."
"No way." Lin Xiangsong shook his head firmly: "We're already divorced, how could they find me?"
"But we're only getting a sham divorce, so there's still a risk. I saw some kind of agreement template online that clearly states why we're getting a divorce, the procedures, and the reasons. That way, our sham divorce won't be recognized as a real divorce."
"Really?" Lin Xiangsong was very skeptical. It was impossible; his lawyer had assured him. "Where did you see that? Did someone tell you?"
"Sigh, it's on TikTok."
Lin Xiangsong's expression turned disgusted: "It's Douyin again. I've told you so many times, don't listen to those short videos spreading alarmist rumors. Instead of learning anything good, you learn that..."
He suddenly remembered that the two of them had already gone through divorce proceedings.
Forget it, why say more?
He married an idiot, and it's not like he just found out today.
Liang Hui pulled out the agreement: "Why don't you take a look? I think it makes sense and is well-founded. You can sign it too, so I'll have some peace of mind. Otherwise, I'll always feel uneasy."
The following supplementary explanations are provided regarding issues related to divorce agreements:
On June 17, 2022, Liang Hui (Party A) and Lin Xiangsong (Party B) went through divorce proceedings at the Civil Affairs Bureau. Regarding the divorce agreement and supplementary property gift agreement filed by the two parties... Lin Xiangsong still needs to review them carefully.
Gao Heyun, who was across from them, leaned over to look: "Teacher Lin, what's this? A fake divorce agreement? You and your sister-in-law got a fake divorce? Why, when you applied for it..."
"No," Lin Xiangsong quickly interrupted him. He coughed twice to cover his mouth, picked up a pen, and quickly signed his name on the agreement. "Okay, I've signed it. Does that put your mind at ease?"
Liang Hui smiled broadly.
Look, he signed whatever she brought without hesitation. He's completely obsessed. How could she possibly doubt him?
"What did you just say, Professor Gao?"
Liang Hui was always carefree, but Lin Xiangsong was meticulous. Seeing that he couldn't hear any more gossip today, Gao Heyun picked up his teacup, saying, "It's nothing."
Lin Xiangsong urged, "Hurry up and pick up Lin Lin from school, it's already 5:30."
"Okay! I'll go right now." Liang Hui stood up and greeted Gao Heyun with a smile, "Teacher Gao, I'm going to pick up Lin Lin, bye!"
"Alright, go ahead."
Liang Hui, nearing forty, descended the stairs with incredible speed, almost as if she were flying. Clutching the divorce papers, she couldn't suppress her overwhelming emotions. At this age, she still wanted to tell the world: Look, this is my husband. I made the right choice.
Yu Xingge asked her chef to go to Jinji Pastry Shop instead, as she wanted to pick up the two pre-ordered latte chocolate mini cakes. Back at the law firm, Liu Lin was intently staring at her computer at her workstation, her large silver-rimmed eyes revealing two noticeable light blue dark circles.
"Linlin," Yu Xingge said with a smile as she walked over, glancing at the annotations on the labor dispute contract on the computer screen, "Look, I brought you something delicious."
"Wow! It's Jinji!" Liu Lin put down the mouse, took the bag, and opened it. "Oh my god, it's my favorite latte with chocolate! Xingge, you're so thoughtful! I'm so lucky to have you!"
"It's my pleasure. I'm very grateful for keeping an eye on Director Shen's schedule these past two days. After all, it's my job. Has the director contacted me while I was away?"
Liu Lin shook her head: "Wanxiang Group has been trending on social media these past two days. The workers at that run-down building in the main city are making a ruckus every day. She's been kept on a tight schedule by the group's boss, practically living and working there. She doesn't have time to care about what we're doing. But she's assigned a lot of work. You can see I've been working overtime these past two days, and now you have dark circles under my eyes. It's great that you're back. Now that you're back, I have someone to share the burden with."
Yu Xingge chuckled, "I haven't handled any of the director's cases yet, so I can't help you." She said, half-jokingly, "There are confidentiality agreements. I'm just a lowly intern, I'm afraid I can't handle it."
"Confidentiality agreement? What confidentiality agreement? What internship? Look how short-staffed the director's team is. She has so many consultants, and so many people who come are assigned to projects. No matter how many more come, they can't fill her bottomless pit. Even if you're just a legal assistant, once you're in the director's team, you'll be used until your hair turns white early."
Really? Not necessarily. She's been here for a month or so, and she's never handled a single one of Director Chang's cases.
Yu Xingge feigned surprise: "Sister Wei Ling said that you all signed confidentiality agreements. There are also internship requirements for signing confidentiality agreements, and I haven't even completed six months yet, so I'm not qualified."
"When was this regulation implemented? I didn't know about it." Liu Lin was taken aback for a moment, but she quickly said, "Well, it's probably a recent requirement. Sister Wei Ling is the most meticulous person, you can't go wrong listening to her." Before Yu Xingge could react, she hurriedly turned to the computer: "I haven't finished revising this contract yet, Xingge, I'll talk to you later after I finish revising it."
"Okay, you go ahead and do your thing," Yu Xingge said with a smile.
She stopped laughing once she got back to her seat.
What exactly is the reason?
