Chapter 21 The Magic Wand
Chapter 21 The Magic Wand
If I had to pinpoint my main purpose for coming to Diagon Alley today, it would be to buy a wand.
Landric and Draco meet up with the Malfoys and prepare to go to the wand shop to buy a wand.
Narcissa: "Hmm...we need to find Ollivander's wand shop now."
Ollivander's wand shop was unremarkable; Narcissa and Lucius had only ever been there once, when buying wands themselves, and now they'd almost forgotten where it was.
When they found it, Ollivander's wand shop was small and dilapidated; the gold lettering on the door had fallen off. As they entered, they heard a series of clanging sounds coming from behind the hall. The hall was very small, so they stood there waiting.
Not long after, an elderly man with silver hair came out of the shop; this man was Ollivander.
Ollivander: "Hey, you two Mr. Malfoy, Ms. Malfoy, and this..."
Landric: "Landrico Rozier"
Ollivander: "Oh, Mr. Rozier, you're here to buy a wand, aren't you?"
Lucius: "Yes."
Ollivander: "Oh, alright, alright, which young gentleman would like to go first?"
Draco glanced at Landric and, seeing that he didn't seem particularly excited about getting his future wand, said, "I'll go first."
Ollivander: "Well, Mr. Malfoy, which hand do you prefer to use?"
"Right hand"
Ollivander: "Now please extend your hand; I need to measure the length of your arm."
Draco extended his right hand, and Landric watched curiously from the side.
Ollivander: "Well, alright, now I need to find you a suitable wand, of the Malfoy bloodline. Let me think."
Ollivander: "Hey, I've got it! How about hawthorn wood? Hmm... for the core, how about unicorn tail feathers?"
That's why Ollivander had such a keen eye; Draco found the wand that would accompany him for life after just one try.
Ollivander: "Next, it's your turn, Mr. Rozier. Same to you, please extend your hand."
Upon hearing this, Landric, like Draco, stretched out his arm.
Ollivander looked at Landric and suddenly became excited: "What a picky little guest! But I like it. Trust me, I'll find you a suitable wand."
Then Ollivander turned and walked to a cabinet at the back, rummaging through it.
Ollivander: "Found it, willow wood, how about phoenix tail feathers? Powerful and healing."
Ollivander looked at Landric's face and felt that the wand belonged to him; just looking at Landric gave him a healing feeling. Ah, what a beautiful angel.
As it turned out, Ollivander wasn't always right. Looking at the cluttered shop before him, his eyes began to gleam. He loved discerning customers, and finding the right wand for them gave him a real sense of accomplishment.
Poor Landric, he tried countless wands, Ollivander's wand skill was practically nonexistent.
Landric was starting to get a little irritated.
It's no wonder Draco was so indulgent with Landric; he immediately sensed Landric's agitation, then went to Landric's side and gently pulled him aside.
Landric sensed Draco's reassurance and began to calm himself down.
Ollivander returned to the cabinet and began rummaging through it again. Suddenly, he spotted a dusty box in the corner, and a sudden, intuitive feeling washed over him.
Ollivander: "Aha, found it. Let's try again. This time it'll definitely work. Yewwood, Thunderbird tail feathers."
Upon hearing this, Landric picked up the wand anyway. It was beautiful, quite to Landric's liking. Holding it, he felt a warm sensation all over his body. In an instant, Landric knew—this was it.
Landric waved his wand, and a dazzling light emanated from its tip.
Ollivander watched this scene, narrowing his eyes. The yew tree, rebirth after death; the thunderbird's tail feathers, a powerful symbol.
Having found suitable wands, none of them wanted to linger any longer. Lucius paid the money and led everyone away.
Everything is ready now, except for the start of school...
