Chapter 4 The Butterfly's Wings, Palpatine the Conman, and Order No. 66
Chapter 4 The Butterfly's Wings, Palpatine the Conman, and Order No. 66
Lance turned and sped toward the Jedi Temple.
The Force surged within him, boosting his speed and reflexes to their limits.
He weaved through the traffic and crowds with the agility of a cheetah, leaping over ten meters in a single bound.
All obstacles were left behind, all in order to get back to the temple as quickly as possible.
What should have been a nearly half-hour journey took him less than five minutes.
Lance rushed into the communications room and dialed his master's communication channel.
Drop drop drop.
At that moment, he felt that time was passing by incredibly slowly.
As he waited anxiously, a holographic projection of his master, Pro Kong, appeared.
"Apprentice, what happened that made you so flustered?"
The Milky Way is vast and boundless, and the day and night cycles of each galaxy are different.
It was nighttime in Coruscant, but it was still daytime on the planet Katonemoydia.
Pro Kong was piloting a fighter jet, patrolling over a city with two other fighter jets.
Lance, combining his dream with what he saw with his own eyes, told him about Palpatine and Anakin killing Master Windu.
......
Meanwhile, at Palpatine's residence.
Palpatine exploited Anakin's emotional weaknesses, tricking him into becoming his apprentice.
After experiencing the pain of losing his mother, Anakin was extremely afraid of losing Padmé, whom he deeply loved.
It was this fear that led him step by step into darkness.
He sought help from Master Yoda, but only received an answer that told him to let go of his emotions and let things take their natural course.
How could Anakin be satisfied with this?
He is the most promising Jedi Knight.
He aspires to become the strongest Jedi in history, surpassing all the masters.
He should control his own destiny.
And all of this is developing in the direction of Palpatine's plan.
Fear breeds anger, anger breeds hatred, and hatred breeds suffering.
All four can lead people to the dark side and become the source of Sith power.
He had been subtly guiding Anakin, quietly instilling Sith ideology into him through past conversations.
Now, the seeds planted in the past have finally sprouted and borne fruit.
When the time was right, he no longer concealed his identity and admitted to being the Lord of the Sith.
His first test for his new apprentices was to enter the Jedi Temple, wipe out all the Jedi, and personally end this corrupt and decadent order of warriors.
Anakin sat in the chair, his face contorted with inner turmoil and deep distress.
On one side is the Jedi Order who raised him and his mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi, who is also his friend and teacher; on the other side is his lover Padmé.
A fierce clash between conscience and emotion.
Ultimately, obsession triumphed over conscience.
Palpatine watched Anakin's departing figure, his wrinkles deepening into a sinister smile.
The face, disfigured by the Force lightning, looked particularly terrifying.
He stood in front of the communication station, his face hidden by a large hood, and reached out to press the call button.
A deep, hoarse voice rang out:
"Execute Order No. 66."
......
After hearing what Lance said, Pro Kong felt a chill run down his spine.
Suddenly, he sensed a strong sense of unease from the Force.
This unease is rapidly building, as if it will descend at any moment.
And the source of the unease...
He looked at the fighter jets on both sides and vaguely saw a holographic projection light up in the cockpit.
A cloaked figure appeared to be giving them some kind of order.
Pro Kong wanted to see the person's face clearly, but the projection suddenly disappeared, and the unease that had been weighing on his heart reached its peak at that moment.
The moment the two clone soldiers received the order, the inhibition chips embedded in their brains were instantly activated.
The soldiers' memories were altered by the chip.
The Jedi Knights who had saved them from danger on the battlefield had turned into tyrannical, bloodthirsty, and wicked villains.
The two fighter jets suddenly slowed down and opened fire on Procon ahead.
......
Several explosions were heard, and communications were suddenly cut off.
Lance was taken aback and immediately tried to contact them again, but apart from the beeping sound, there was no response.
A despairing thought involuntarily surfaced in his mind.
"No...it's impossible..."
Lance took a deep breath to calm himself down.
His master was far away in the outer ring of the Milky Way, so no matter how anxious he was, it was no use.
What he needs to do now is to remind the other Jedi.
With that in mind, he quickly dialed Master Jocasta's communication channel.
Joecasta lay on the bed, his brow furrowed.
In her dream, she saw many blurry illusions, familiar faces falling one after another, and heard a series of shrill screams.
Endless despair and pain transformed into a monstrous wave, crashing down and completely engulfing her.
Drop drop drop.
The communicator inside the room suddenly rang, jolting Jocasta awake from his dream.
She clutched her chest, like a drowning person surfacing, greedily inhaling the air.
"Lance, what happened?"
Joecasta's heart skipped a beat. Looking at his anxious expression and combining it with the hallucination in his dream, he immediately sensed that something terrible was about to happen.
Sure enough, her guess was right.
"Palpatine...Anakin..."
The news was so shocking that it was hard to believe.
But her intuition told her that everything Lance said was true.
Joecasta immediately retrieved the surveillance footage, which showed a figure clad in a black robe walking towards the Jedi Temple, followed by a large number of clone soldiers.
She hurriedly checked the other surveillance footage and discovered that the temple had already been surrounded.
In an instant, the seasoned Jedi Master made his decision.
She tapped a few times on the communicator and, with her Temple Archives administrator privileges, activated the highest level of alert.
Suddenly, a piercing siren blared across the Jedi Temple.
The temple gates, which are never closed, are now being rapidly sealed.
At the same time, the preset program started, sending warning messages to all the Jedi.
......
Anakin was about to reach the gates of the Jedi Temple, clad in a black Jedi robe, exuding a terrifying aura of darkness.
A steady stream of clone soldiers followed behind him, armed with blaster guns, and a chilling atmosphere filled the air.
Countless fighter jets and shuttles were flying toward the temple, almost obscuring the entire sky.
They all belonged to the 501st Legion, and were all top-notch soldiers, the elite of the elite.
Suddenly, the alarm sounded, and then the several-meter-thick alloy door slammed shut.
Anakin stopped in his tracks, standing before the tightly closed palace doors, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
Palpatine, who was standing on high ground overlooking Coruscant, was also stunned.
His smile froze, and his previously composed and confident face now showed a hint of surprise.
"These Jedi reactions..."
Palpatine frowned, staring in the direction of the temple.
He had already obscured the Jedi's perception of the future by disrupting the Force.
Logically speaking, their reaction shouldn't be this quick.
He ordered Anakin to lead clone soldiers to attack the Jedi Temple precisely to catch them off guard.
However, the current mutation has clearly exceeded expectations.
Palpatine raised an eyebrow slightly, then his expression returned to calm.
"Even so, what can we do?"
"The situation is already decided; you can't make a fuss."
"It's just struggling a little longer within a predetermined ending."
A sinister smile played on his lips, and a glint of malice flashed in his eyes.
"The Jedi will eventually perish."
"The Milky Way is destined to fall under my control."
