Why did Anakin transform into Darth Vader in Chapter 31?
Why did Anakin transform into Darth Vader in Chapter 31?
Lance couldn't help but ponder a question.
Why did Anakin transform into Darth Vader?
Is it because of his emotional obsession?
Lance grew up in the Jedi Temple and was taught from a young age that Jedi must restrain their emotions.
This does not mean that the Jedi should become ruthless machines, nor cold-blooded.
Rather, it is a transcendent compassion.
Jedi are not incapable of having emotions, but rather they cannot be controlled by emotions.
But Anakin was quite the opposite.
His life was almost entirely driven by emotions and fears.
It was these emotions that gradually led him into the dark side.
Master Yoda often taught the young Jedi:
Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hatred, and hatred leads to suffering.
Anakin's life was sown with the seeds of fear from a young age.
He was born into a slave family.
He lacked a sense of security for a long period of time in his childhood.
His mother was his only source of emotional support.
However, Jedi doctrine separated him from his mother.
Anakin enters the Jedi Temple, but misses his mother and fears losing his only source of emotional support.
This fear accompanied him throughout his growth.
Later, he lost his mother.
And to die in an extremely painful way right before one's eyes.
At that moment, Anakin was completely consumed by anger for the first time.
He massacred the entire Tusken camp.
This includes women and children.
From a Jedi perspective, he has already fallen into the dark side.
Lance recalled the Jedi doctrine:
Control your emotions.
Not driven by hatred.
Do not kill out of anger.
But at that moment, Anakin's mind was controlled by anger and hatred, and he became a complete slave to his emotions.
More importantly, he did not truly confront his own pain.
He simply suppressed his pain deep inside.
Emotions slowly build up, like a volcano gathering strength.
When he can no longer suppress it, he will suddenly unleash a devastating force.
As Lance thought about this, recalling his life of more than ten years, a sense of sorrow suddenly rose in his heart.
He found himself living as if he were a Jedi Dogma.
Control your emotions.
They almost never truly cared about others.
And almost no one ever really cares about them.
When Anakin led his clone army to slaughter the Jedi Temple, a surge of anger rose within him, but it was far from reaching the point of complete loss of control.
But what if it were his respected master, his best friend Ahsoka, or Gugu, his fellow fugitive, dying in front of him...?
Will I lose control?
At this thought, a sense of fear suddenly rose in Lance's heart.
He himself did not know the answer to this question.
He never wants that to happen.
Lance clenched his fist quietly, and a voice suddenly rose in his heart.
"strength."
He was startled and quickly chased them away.
In that brief moment, he felt as if he saw Anakin's shadow in himself.
"Isn't this the path he chose...?"
Suddenly, he understood why Anakin had fallen to the dark side.
When the Jedi could no longer give him the power he desired, he resolutely turned to the Sith.
At this moment, two figures were locked in a battle of wits in Lance's mind.
Black Lance wields a red lightsaber:
"Only power can stop tragedy."
White Lance wields a blue lightsaber:
"Let go of your obsessions."
"Obsession makes you afraid of losing."
"And those who are afraid of losing will stop at nothing."
Anakin's biggest problem was that he was too obsessed.
He couldn't accept the departure of those around him; his mother was dead, and Padmé would also die.
That's why he would stop at nothing to pursue power and prevent death.
This pursuit has already violated the laws of nature.
Death is part of the Force cycle.
Jedi can be sad, but he cannot let it corrupt him.
Anakin couldn't do that.
He wanted to control his destiny, even his life and death.
Palpatine then used this to give Anakin "hope" in saving Padmé.
Anakin was consumed by fear and could only cling desperately to this sliver of "hope".
"If you can't let go, you're destined to become the second Anakin."
White Lance brandished his light blade, forcefully repelling Black Lance.
"I've had enough of you hypocritical Jedi doctrines."
Black Lance took a step forward, and a red light blade slashed down:
"Control your desires, let go of your obsessions, and maintain peace."
"Listen to this, what kind of bullshit dogma is this?"
"He's like a fly, constantly buzzing around."
"Your Jedi doctrine, which says we shouldn't cling to anything."
"Will forcibly suppressing emotions make them disappear?"
Black Lance suddenly exerted his strength, sending White Lance flying:
"Isn't restraint and suppression of emotions also a form of fear?"
White Lance adjusted his posture in mid-air and landed steadily:
"The Jedi are never about turning people into emotionless stones."
"We will feel sadness, anger, and fear of loss."
"The real danger is not emotions themselves, but being dominated by emotions."
"You think Jedi restrain their emotions out of fear, but what about the Sith?"
He bent his knees slightly, pushed off with all his might, and his whole body shot out like an arrow.
The blade hummed as it swept across the ground.
"They are merely puppets of fear."
"Because of the fear of losing, one wants to control everything."
"This is not courage, this is weakness."
"The real dead end is not the denial of emotions."
We accept loss, we accept powerlessness, and we accept that life is not always as we wish.
Black Lance showed no fear and raised his sword to meet the attack:
"Pooh."
"It sounds grand and pedantic, full of lofty principles."
"The problem is simply that your strength is not strong enough."
Having said that, he exerted his strength again, knocking White Lance back.
"strength?"
"Anakin pursued power, but what was the result?"
"He still failed to truly protect the people he loved."
"In the end, he even destroyed everything with his own hands."
White Lance charged forward again:
"You think the problem lies in insufficient strength?"
"No."
"The problem is that once you start believing the lie that you can do whatever you want as long as you have enough power, you've already fallen into the dark side."
"The most terrifying aspect of the dark side is never anger."
"It makes you feel that your anger is justified."
It will tell you.
Everything you've lost is because you weren't strong enough.
"If we were just a little stronger, we could change our destiny."
"If we were just a little more ruthless, we could protect everyone."
"But what happened in the end?"
"You would kill ten people to protect one person."
"To prevent tragedy, we create even greater tragedy."
"And then you finally realize..."
"You have become the person you used to hate the most."
White Lance was silent for a few seconds, then said in a low voice:
"I also hated the Jedi doctrine."
"I also think the committee is arrogant, slow-witted, and hypocritical."
"But at least one thing, they are right."
White Lance raised his sword and slashed down:
"A person who cannot control their desires will eventually be controlled by their desires."
"And a person who sees power as the answer."
He pressed down the light blade with force:
"Sooner or later they will kneel before power."
Black Lance knelt on one knee, a blue light blade pressed against his shoulder.
He looked up at White Lance, his face full of disdain:
"Then let me ask you."
"If Palpatine were to kill the person you care about most, and you were powerless to stop it."
"If only I were a little stronger, I could have saved them."
"What would you do in this situation?"
