Chapter 318 Almost a Cat and Dog Battle
Chapter 318 Almost a Cat and Dog Battle
He turned to face the class, a wisp of mist rising from the tip of his wand: "Remember, true dark magic doesn't give you a chance to be distracted. Now, everyone pair up and practice Obstacle Charms—if anyone breathes fire on a classmate again, they'll be sent to the Forbidden Forest to spar with the werewolves!"
Fred leaned closer, still trying not to laugh: "Seriously, what happened between you and Professor Snape? You've been spacing out the whole day..."
"Obstacles abound!" I cast the spell in advance, and watching him scramble to avoid it, I smiled calmly.
The wisps of smoke outside the window had long since dissipated, but my heart remained uneasy. I felt as if a pair of dark, jade-colored eyes were watching my every move through the intricate corridors of Hogwarts.
The school bell rang, shattering on the stained glass, and tiny specks of light swayed with the flow of people.
I haphazardly stuffed the parchment into my backpack, while Fred and George each hooked their arms around my shoulders, muttering about going to the kitchen to steal a few pumpkin pies.
The corridors were filled with the sounds of students laughing and shoving, mixed with the distant scraping of brooms; the midday clamor at Hogwarts bubbled like butterbeer boiling.
“Ayers.” Sirius’s voice suddenly came from behind.
I froze on the spot, feeling Fred's fingers gently pinch my shoulder.
As we turned around, the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor was leaning against the doorframe, a silver wolf head brooch gleaming coldly on his scarlet cloak, his gray eyes fixed on the three of us like a hawk's.
George's Adam's apple bobbed as he took a half-step back, his wand twirling in a flustered arc in his palm: "Professor, we really didn't put any dung in the hallway!"
“I know.” Sirius flicked away the gold dust that had somehow gotten stuck to George’s earlobe, and a gray light suddenly focused on my neck. “I’ll talk to Ayers alone.”
Fred was about to speak when I gently pressed his wrist down.
As soon as the twins' footsteps disappeared around the corner, Sirius suddenly leaned in close, his hot breath hitting me: "I heard that your Headmaster Snape's study recently got a spare desk?" He lifted a stray strand of my hair with his wand. "Or is it for a future Potions teaching assistant?"
I grabbed his wrist with my other hand, the tip of my wand already pressed against the nerve in his elbow: "Professor's information network is more extensive than an owl's." Sirius didn't flinch, his wolf head brooch almost brushing against my collarbone as he looked down: "Be his teaching assistant after graduation? I'm short of teaching assistants too, why don't you ask me?"
“Compared to your classroom, which could turn into an explosion site at any moment,” I pressed down slightly, holding my wand tighter, and seeing the surprise flash in his eyes, “I would much rather quietly brew potions amidst the aroma of potions.”
Sirius suddenly chuckled, causing the wolf-head brooch to graz my skin, leaving a slightly hot mark.
He didn't struggle, but instead leaned forward half a step, his nose almost touching mine: "Do you think Snape would allow you to just 'quietly prepare the medicine'? That old bat's possessiveness hidden under his robes is more intense than the poison he brews."
"Possessiveness?" I smirked, my fingertips tracing the raised lines at the end of my wand. "And what about you, Sirius?"
His gray pupils contracted sharply, and the wolf head brooch swayed gently with his rapid breathing.
“Me?” Sirius’s voice suddenly became hoarse, and his wand unconsciously drew a cold light across the side of my neck. “I just don’t want to see you become the crucible he uses to fill his loneliness.”
“But that’s not what you mean. It’s even harder to hide than his potion.” I suddenly raised my hand, my fingertips brushing against his chin, and felt his body tense up instantly.
The candlelight in the locked Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom flickered, casting shifting light and shadow on his sharply defined face. "Sirius, tell me, what are you thinking?"
Sirius's Adam's apple bobbed, and the pressure of the wand on my skin grew stronger, like a signal of danger.
“Ayers, aren’t you the same?” He suddenly laughed, a laugh tinged with broken self-mockery. “Was our first encounter when you were a child really so pure?”
My heart skipped a beat. Oh, so they finally noticed?
Memories surged like a boiling potion; the days and nights I spent trying to get close to him that year, all the time I spent with him, now transformed into the cunning light in his eyes.
The candle suddenly went out, and in the darkness came the rustling sound of fabric rubbing together. His warm breath brushed against my ear: "Ayers, look at me and tell me, what was your purpose in approaching me back then?"
I don't know when I grabbed the wand, and the blue light that burst forth when the tips touched moved between us.
I gazed at his sharply defined profile, as sunlight streamed in through the crack in the door, casting shadows beneath his eyelashes.
"Sirius, can't you really tell? Or are you pretending?" I smiled like a fox at that moment. "Not because of any magical contract—like you want to possess me."
Sirius paused, the wolf head brooch brushed against my collarbone, the warm metal leaving a burning mark.
“Ayers, do you know what this means?” His nose was almost touching mine. “Once we say it, there’s no turning back.” The footsteps outside the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom were no match for the deafening pounding of our hearts.
"Don't you already know that the moment I met you, a door was opened between us?" I suddenly bit his lower lip, tasting the metallic, bloody flavor.
"So, are you planning to trap me?" I chuckled lightly between his lips. "Will you guard me with your Animagus form, or sew an Apparition Protection Charm onto my sleeve?"
Sirius suddenly grabbed the back of my neck, and as his burning kiss landed, the door creaked softly as it was pressed against me.
His wand fell to the stone floor, and my fingertips became entangled in his slightly curly black hair, forming an unbreakable spell in the darkness.
Since Sirius had just closed the curtains in the entire Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom to talk to me, and the candles had suddenly gone out, we are now both in the dark.
In the pitch-black darkness, our breaths grew increasingly hot.
A fine shiver ran down the back of my neck, the outline of nine fox tails seemed to stir restlessly through my robe, and the downy hairs on the tips of my ears felt slightly warm under my skin.
Sirius seemed to sense something, and his kisses became more urgent, his hands tracing down my back, gently pressing on my tailbone.
"What is this?" he asked vaguely, his fingertips touching the faint, ethereal shadow of a tail.
I froze, and my beastly eyes suddenly lit up with a ghostly blue light, like two will-o'-the-wisps in the darkness.
Sirius jerked back, his grey eyes reflecting my silvery pointed ears, and a suppressed curse escaped his throat.
"Sirius, don't stop." I gasped as I pulled back his collar, and the fox tail finally broke free of its restraints, unfurling a magnificent arc behind me.
Nine tails, like flowing clouds, wrapped around his waist, carrying an eerie warmth.
Sirius's wand suddenly floated to the surface, exploding into a burst of eerie green light on the ceiling, enveloping us in a strange glow.
“You are that little fox from back then…” His voice was terribly hoarse, the wolf head brooch trembled violently, and he looked at my current appearance with a hint of surprise.
“Oh dear~ I’ve finally been exposed~” I took the opportunity to bite his earlobe, and my tongue swept across the throbbing veins on the side of his neck: “Can you feel it? My golden core that I put in your body is calling me.”
The fox tail suddenly tightened, and Sirius groaned as his lower back braced against the overturned podium. A bottle of decorative potion that Sirius had placed there shattered beneath him, its pungent odor mingling with lust.
His Animagus form also seemed restless, his gray pupils turned into thin lines, and his canines pierced his lower lip.
“Ayers, it’s you…” He suddenly laughed, reaching out to hook my earlobe. “The little fox who kept me company in Azkaban, I’ve been looking for you for so long…”
Suddenly there was a loud knocking on the door, and Sirius had already rolled over and pinned me down.
His wand pressed against my wrist, fox tails and dog hair swirling in the darkness: "I've finally found you. This time, never leave me again."
He lowered his head and bit down on the artery in my neck. The moment his canine teeth pierced my skin, the golden core inside him hummed, and it felt as if a fire had been ignited inside me.
Scalding flames spread wildly through my veins. I laughed as I grabbed his slightly curly black hair and pulled him up. My blue beastly eyes reflected the possessiveness surging within them: "Sirius, you're like this..." My words were cut off by a broken breath, and my fox tail unconsciously wrapped around his waist. "Why do you look so much like a fox courting?"
Sirius suddenly chuckled, black dog ears popping out from his hair, his canine teeth still stained with my blood.
His wand suddenly hovered, carving fiery runes on the wall. He turned and pinned me against the cold stone bricks, his nose almost touching mine: "Just pretend I'm courting."
His hot breath brushed against my lips, and the black dog's tail had somehow wrapped around my ankle. "Ayers, would you be willing to be kept by me for the rest of your life?"
I suddenly threw my head back and laughed, and my nine fox tails tightened sharply, trapping him in front of me.
She lifted his chin with her fingertips, a cunning glint in her beastly eyes: "I don't want to. No one can keep me as a pet."
The fox tail suddenly transformed into a sharp blade of light, slicing across his neck and leaving a charred mark on the wall. "But you, Sirius, how about considering becoming my loyal hound? After all..." I whispered in his ear, "I quite like you."
Sirius's eyes, which had dimmed, suddenly lit up, his furry dog ears perked up instantly, and his tail wagged like a runaway propeller.
He suddenly took the initiative, pinning me against the wall and rubbing his nose against my neck: "You should have said so earlier, Ayers! A loyal dog is a loyal dog!"
His canines gently bit my shoulder, but he couldn't bring himself to bite hard. "But it's a deal, this loyal dog of mine will have all of my master's affection to himself."
"That depends on their performance." I couldn't guarantee anything. I still have a formidable black cat here. I wonder if Sirius and Mingyue will start fighting when they see each other in their beast forms.
A black cat and a black dog—it's quite interesting to think about.
"Well, Ayers, your loyal dog wants a reward now..." Sirius really got into character quickly. Did he adapt so fast?
Before Sirius could finish speaking, his fluffy tail had already wrapped around my wrist, and his canine teeth were gently rubbing against my earlobe: "Like a kiss that belongs only to a loyal dog?"
His eyes were glistening with moisture, completely devoid of his previous domineering demeanor, and he truly resembled a big dog begging for a reward.
Just as I was about to make a joke, a sharp meow suddenly came from outside the window. When I used my wand to open the curtains, a completely black cat pawed at the windowsill, its heterochromatic eyes, one gold and one blue, gleaming eerily in the sunlight.
Sirius's ears perked up instantly, his tail froze in mid-air, and when he turned his head, he felt all the fur on his body stand on end: "Isn't this your magical pet, Ayers?"
The black cat gracefully leaped into the classroom, its tail held high, and gave a disdainful shake of its paw as it passed the overturned potion bottle.
It slowly walked up to us, then suddenly arched its back, puffed up its fur, and let out a low, warning growl.
Sirius immediately stepped in front of me, his canine teeth gleaming coldly, his tail shielding me like a shield: "Want to steal Ayers? You'll have to get past me first!"
The black cat froze for a moment, then let out a sneer, its body enveloped in swirling black mist.
When the smoke cleared, a black-haired man with heterochromatic eyes stood lazily opposite Sirius, his indigo robe trailing to the ground, and a silver chain resembling a cat's tail wrapped around his waist.
"According to the order of arrival, you seem to be quite late. What do you mean by 'grabbing'? You're not qualified." Mingyue sneered directly.
Sirius's fur stood on end, and he bared his canine teeth at Mingyue with a fierce look. His large black tail slammed heavily on the ground, sending up a cloud of stone dust: "First come, first served? Ayers left an important golden core inside my body. What do you have to compare with me?"
Mingyue curled her lips into a smile, her heterochromatic eyes flashing with alternating golden-red and blue light. Suddenly, the silver cat-tail chain around her waist came to life, coiling around his wrist like a serpent.
With a light tap of his fingertip, he gathered magic power: "When it comes to fighting, I, Mingyue, have never been afraid of anyone."
As Mingyue cast her spell, countless chains formed of black mist suddenly descended from the classroom dome, crashing down on Sirius.
"Stop!" I pressed down on Sirius's wand with one hand and stretched out the other towards Mingyue. He immediately transformed into a black cat and jumped into my arms.
Mingyue immediately rubbed her head against my palm, making a purring sound in her throat, while her tail defiantly swung towards Sirius.
Seeing this, Sirius wasn't about to be outdone. He turned and snuggled into my arms, licking my neck. His fluffy head pushed aside the black cat and buried itself in my neck: "Ayers is mine!"
"Alright, you two!" I looked at the cat and dog facing off in my arms, both amused and exasperated.
I stroked Mingyue's fur and ruffled Sirius's curly head: "If you keep making a fuss, I'm turning around and leaving." The two of them fell silent instantly. Sirius secretly tugged at my sleeve; Mingyue casually flicked its tail but quietly moved half a step closer to me.
