Chapter 61: The Mad Dragon King Chaos
Chapter 61: The Mad Dragon King Chaos
"Who exactly are you?" The man looked at Catherine warily, as if he was ready to fight at the slightest provocation.
"I am Cicelyn Sylvania." Cicelyn's cool voice echoed in the alley, like a wind chime being swayed by the wind.
"I'm currently the principal of Lanoa Magic University," Cidelina said, pausing for a moment. "And you?"
"Even dragons should know manners, right?"
"Heh." Upon hearing Catherine's identity, the man scoffed, "Who knows if the name you uttered is true or false?"
"Aren't you being a little too boring?" Cinderella wondered if the guy in front of her had some kind of paranoia.
"What would be the point of me forging an identity and name?" Cicelyn rolled her eyes. "If you don't trust me, then just forge a name too."
"I'm different from guys like you who sneak around following others," the man said, slowly removing his hood to reveal his face.
He had jet-black hair, black and silver scales on his forehead, and a pair of dark, vertical pupils staring intently at Cinderella, as if he would attack at the slightest movement she made.
After seeing that Catherine merely raised an eyebrow, he slowly said, "They generally call me the Mad Dragon King."
"Mad Dragon King Chaos".
Mad Dragon King?
That's a pretty impressive name... So what's your relationship with the Dragon God?
"Do you know the Dragon God?" Catherine raised an eyebrow.
"..." Upon hearing this name, Chaos fell silent. He looked at Cideline quietly for a few seconds and then said, "Not familiar with her."
"I only know who he is."
"I see..." Cidelyn nodded knowingly. "I met him in the Crimson Dragon Mountains before."
"..."
Chaos fell silent again upon hearing this, his expression unpredictable, as if he were deep in thought.
"Are you dragons born like this, always wearing such a sour face?"
Sidlin's words startled him for a moment, then he immediately frowned: "You have no idea what the Dragon God Orstide means."
"Wherever he goes... people die," Chaos said. "Aren't you afraid?"
"I'm not afraid." Catherine shrugged. "I think I'm a little more likable than you."
"He might be here to kill you."
"..." Chaos's expression stiffened upon hearing this. He snorted coldly and said, "So, what are you following me for?"
"I already said I'm a little curious," Catherine shrugged. "Shall we talk here?"
"still……"
"..."
Chaos looked at Cideline warily and said, "Let's talk here."
"Don't you have a home?"
"..."
Looking at Chaos, who had fallen silent again, Sidlin couldn't help but wonder if he was being a little too cautious; he would fall silent as soon as she asked a casual question.
"La Noah University has quite a few..."
"I have a home."
"Is that so...? Can you tell me where it is?"
"cannot."
"Uh... so you're lying?"
Seeing the girl, who was much shorter than him, say such things, Chaos clenched his fists slightly, but when he thought that she was just a child... his anger subsided.
He shook his head and said, "So what do you want to ask... I have other things to do and don't want to talk to you anymore."
Upon hearing this, Catherine raised an eyebrow and shifted her attention away from whether Chaos was lying to her.
"That's a very high-quality gray-scaled magic crystal. Although it looks like a stone, it actually contains a lot of magic power, and its magic conductivity is also quite good." Sidlin paused, then continued, "So you're a staff maker?"
"You seem to know quite a bit about Grayscale Magic Crystals." Chaos looked at Cidlin with some surprise. "Grayscale Magic Crystals are indeed an excellent material for making staves, but they are actually a perfect match for magical artifacts."
As if he had been given a free hand, he continued, "I'm researching how to make automata. If I had this Gray Scale Magic Crystal as the core, the process would be much simpler."
"Even if it's not big enough, it's enough for me to build a prototype... Just think, isn't it amazing to make a doll move on its own?"
"Not only that, I can also..."
So... is this guy actually a magic item enthusiast?
Sidrin raised an eyebrow as she watched Chaos talk incessantly. She wasn't particularly interested in these magical artifacts... but she did find the automaton rather intriguing.
If we had an automaton, wouldn't we be able to do absolutely nothing... like having it bring us food and drinks... Of course, we'd still have to do the blood-sucking ourselves...
But the doll should still be able to attend classes, right?
Having a puppet teach Loki while he just needs to suck blood is simply fantastic.
Thinking this, Catherine coughed softly: "Mr. Chaos... I'm very curious."
"If the automaton you mentioned is successful... could it serve people?"
"Or perhaps do something more difficult?"
"Of course! Absolutely!" Chaos seemed a little excited because of Sidrin's question. He almost walked up to Sidrin and looked down at her, saying, "What you're saying is just commonplace for automatons."
"She can even fight... if the materials are right... she might be able to fight against a King-level... or even an Emperor-level!"
That doesn't really make sense... Cinderella shook her head and said, "Does that include teaching, then?"
"For example, teaching students or something..."
"It can do more than just teach; it can even teach magic... Do you understand? It's like a living person!" Chaos slammed his hands on Cinderella's shoulders, making her wince.
No... why are you so agitated...?
Catherine involuntarily took a few steps back.
Seeing Catherine step back, Chaos coughed as if snapping out of his daze: "Anyway, that's it... Do you know what a great thing I've been busy with?"
"I think I understand." Cinderella nodded gently and began to think.
Seeing Sidrin remain silent, Chaos snorted coldly, "That's enough... I've already wasted too much time talking to you."
"I have other things to do..."
"Wait a minute." Seeing him about to leave, Catherine immediately called out to him.
"I'm very interested in your plan," Sidlin said, extending a hand. "I can sponsor you with five hundred Asura gold coins."
"Five hundred?" Chaos raised an eyebrow upon hearing this. "While it's a considerable sum of money... do you know how much that is for automaton research..."
"Then a thousand," Cidelyn interrupted Chaos, then said seriously, "Besides, I'm of a different race... I can fly."
"I can provide any materials available in the Central Continent."
"And materials from the Demon Continent and other continents... I can also assist you." She winked as she spoke, "After all, I believe that someone as enthusiastic about automatons..."
"You certainly want your work to be the best, right?"
"The best...work?" Chaos fell silent upon hearing this.
His vertical pupils looked at Catherine somewhat uncertainly as he said, "But can you guarantee what you're saying..."
"I'm the principal of Lanoa Magic University." Cinderella pouted. "No matter what... I'm going to stay here, aren't I?"
"..."
Chaos was silent for a few seconds, then looked at Catherine and slowly closed her eyes: "I need to think about it some more."
Tsk...did it fail?
Did I give too little?
But they can't give any more Asura coins... Even Cinderella, who has the money to squander on a school, has to think about the job of Vice Principal Genus.
If I take too much... he'll definitely give me a serious scolding, right?
Those serious old people are the most difficult to deal with.
