Chapter 52 Mobilizing the Masses
Chapter 52 Mobilizing the Masses
"You have all witnessed my commission deal with Mr. Ron Weasley, and you must already have some idea of what I am about to do!"
Ares glanced around the Gryffindor common room, his gaze sweeping over the faces of the students... These young faces, which had just moments before displayed similar blank stares, now showed clear signs of intense interest in some of them.
They watched Ares, eagerly anticipating his "performance"!
So—
To speak to the students more effectively, Ares stepped onto a high table (his stomping motion, as if ascending stairs, unsurprisingly sent a collective gasp through the students).
"The truth of the matter is simple—the stubborn and corrupt school leadership, relying on their meager power, used the pretext of 'safety' to deprive the Hogwarts Class of '91 of their legitimate right to play the 'Protect the Captain' game!"
This behavior is undoubtedly shameful, hypocritical, and outright bullying!
So, my employer, Mr. Ron Weasley, could no longer tolerate this biased bullying by the school administration, and therefore decided to fight back (Ron cried out in his heart: I didn't!). And I, personally, greatly admire Mr. Weasley's spirit of resistance, his fearlessness in the face of power, and thus decided to give him my full support!
In the common room, all the Gryffindor students held their breath, held their tongues, and stared intently at Professor Delphinor, straining their ears to hear every word he said!
"But then again, everyone—"
Ares lowered his voice but emphasized his point.
"Even if Mr. Weasley and I are prepared to fight to the death (Ron's body shakes violently), in the face of the school administration that holds power and sets the rules, our strength is ultimately... insignificant!"
Ares sniffed, and the sorrow in his voice made some girls clutch their chests in distress.
But the next second—
"As Sir Nicholas said, we need more partners!"
Suddenly, Ares's low voice rose again,
"Therefore, I once again call upon you! I make a request of you—I request that you join my action!"
Ares let out two heavy breaths.
"I know the first-year students will definitely respond to my call (Hermione screams in her heart: No!!!), but the rest—the upperclassmen..."
I think I understand what some of you are thinking—you're thinking, what does this have to do with us? The unlucky ones are the freshmen... It's the freshmen whose rights are being violated, not us. Can't we just stand by and watch the show?"
Some students shifted their shoulders nervously, looking ashamed.
"But I want to tell you, having such thoughts is a sign of your ignorance, and it's equally shameful!"
Ares was invincible.
"Aren't we all Gryffindor? Aren't we all part of the House of Courage? When the rights of the weak are violated, you choose to stand by and watch. If one day, the sword of the tyrant falls upon your heads, how dare you expect others to stand up and save you?!"
"That's so well said!!!"
Nick, who had almost missed it, was so excited that his spirit turned a light pink. His head hung on Ares's neck as he clapped frantically.
"Gryffindor never fears tyranny!"
"Well said, Sir Nicholas!"
Ares nodded solemnly to Nick, then his heavy gaze fell on the students.
"What will you choose: to be a warrior or a coward?"
A brief silence—
A hand rose shakily.
Ares looked over and saw that it was the boy who had been the last to go in when he was chatting with Professor McGonagall that day.
"I...I am Oliver Wood, Professor—"
Wood's face was flushed, and his eyes were slightly red.
"I—uh, I wanted to ask, what exactly do you intend to lead us to do?"
"Haven't I made myself clear enough?"
Ares gave a cold laugh, his voice booming like a bell.
"In order to help the Class of '91 reclaim the rights that rightfully belong to them, I will personally ignite the flames of resistance and lead you in an uprising!"
Unless the shameless authorities yield, this war will consume Hogwarts!
In the silence, a kind of passionate emotion, like a virus, spread and quickly ignited the hearts of the students.
"I...I'm going to cry, George—"
Fred, standing in the crowd, trembled as his arms hung down naturally, his gaze fixed on the impassioned Professor Delfino standing on the table, his eyes filled with nothing but admiration!
"Me too, bro—"
George Weasley's trembling voice sounded very sad.
"I can't believe it... I've been searching my whole life for Fred, for a professor who refuses to be rigid and has a rebellious spirit... and now, he's here..."
"Then what are we waiting for, George..."
"Is no one willing to participate?"
Ares's disappointed gaze fell upon everyone.
"It's alright. Even so, Mr. Ron Weasley and I will not give up. After all, we are not cowards who fear tyranny."
Ron moved his bloodless lips. He was only able to stand up so far thanks to Harry's support.
"We are not cowards!"
Finally, someone roared out—it was the Weasley brothers!
"We're willing to fight you to the death, Professor!" — Fred Weasley
"What should we do first? Burn the Forbidden Forest down?" — George Weasley
The 'spark' was lit, and a raging 'fire' immediately engulfed the Gryffindor common room.
Now, what is revealed to Ares are faces filled with indignation and eyes burning with intense flames!
They raised their hands high, jostling and pushing, trying to get closer to him...and shouting all sorts of strange and unsettling things at him to express their determination!
Ares smiled with satisfaction, glancing around and nodding repeatedly.
"It is gratifying... truly gratifying. The courage you have displayed has not diminished the name of Gryffindor, the House of Courage. Time may pass, but your courage will live on as eternally as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry beneath our feet!"
Another burst of howls and cheers erupted!
"Shall we just start this now, Professor Delfino, and storm into the principal's office?"
Fred howled.
"Oh, our strength is still somewhat insufficient, Mr. Weasley,"
Ares smiled.
"Before the final battle, we need to unite even more forces, understand?"
Going it alone won't get you anywhere; uniting all forces that can be united is the true essence of struggle... Hey, Mr. Percy Weasley, where are you headed... Quick, two men, hold him down!"
