Warhammer 30: The Second Legion's Expedition

Chapter 65 'Battle' Between Legions

Chapter 65 'Battle' Between Legions

"A target is rapidly approaching us, sir." The Terminator of the First Legion asked Supreme Commander Avimus, "Do you have a firepower plan, sir?"

Avimus struggled briefly with his inner turmoil.

Because he also caught the sound that was coming straight at him, completely unmasked and almost blindingly bright.

That was the rumbling sound of Astartes' feet stomping on the earth.

"I don't want to do that. Let's retreat immediately, monk."

Ultimately, Avimus wasn't so obsessed as to turn against friendly forces.

At the same time, Avimus mentally crossed out the Second Legion's discipline and tactics with contempt, finding it far too blatant.

Although the Astartes move like a ferocious vehicle, they are perfectly capable of moving at high speeds without making a sound.

The group broke through the barrier, bypassed the running crowd, and prepared to find a suitable location to teleport during the gap in the eerie shrieks.

They found an excellent location, secluded and spacious, situated in a dark corner, almost unnoticed.

After clearing away some jumbled debris and unidentified equipment, the group, weapons in hand, cautiously surveyed their surroundings.

"It's very quiet," Avimus said, sword in hand, his voice a mixture of感慨 (gǎnkǎi, a feeling of deep emotion) and unease.

But soon, he vaguely heard the sound of running wind, and alarm bells went off in his mind. He hurriedly shouted to the Terminator squad that was clearing the surrounding high ground:

"Be careful!"

As soon as the words were spoken, a figure shot out from the shadows, crashing directly into the Terminator and knocking him to the ground with its own weight.

The figure didn't rush to finish off the attacker, but instead quickly stood up, brandishing a spear and severing the heavy weaponry attached to the Terminator's back.

In just a moment, two of the remaining eight-man squad members were cut down and fell to the ground.

The others picked up their weapons, but upon seeing the armor, their hands, which were about to pull the trigger, froze in mid-air.

The same thought flashed through everyone's mind: Oh no!

Achilles also maintained basic restraint, his powered spear always aimed at the opponent's weapon, sparing his life.

Finally, he stepped on the Terminator's breastplate with one foot, his spear pointing directly at the man's head.

"There is no way to escape," Achilles said coldly to the group.

Avimus's squad was at a loss, looking at each other in bewilderment, awaiting Avimus's final orders.

"How did you find this place?" Avimus asked loudly.

The moment Avimus saw Achilles, he knew it was all over; the fact that the enemy had seen them meant that the Second Legion had seen them.

Even though their armor was dull and unremarkable, even though there were no markings on it.

"State your identity," Achilles said.

As he finished speaking, many soldiers from the Ninth Company emerged from the high platform that they had previously favored and highly regarded, carrying explosive rifles and heavy rotary cannons.

Avimus even noticed that some of them were wearing heavy flamethrowers.

"State your identities," Achilles repeated.

Avimus could feel the oppressive and heavy atmosphere around him, with a tangible emotion called anger permeating the air.

With no other choice, he lowered his head slightly: "First Legion, Skeleton Heavenly Army, 22nd Company Commander, Avimus."

Achilles made a move that surprised everyone: he took off his helmet, revealing his handsome face beneath.

The gas inside the alien warship was nauseating. He took a sniff and, after confirming that it could not poison him, he...

In front of everyone, Achilles raised his spear and spat at the Terminator who was lying on the ground.

Suppression, suffocation, anger.

This was followed by an extremely enthusiastic cheer from the Ninth Company.

One gladiator veteran, born in Rome, even fired two shots into the sky. The sound of gunfire and cheers provided an outlet and relief for the extremely oppressive atmosphere.

The Avimus Company, whose guns had been lowered, raised them in anger, pointing them directly at the rampaging Achilles.

Even the Terminator, who had completely given up resisting, was about to get up when Achilles stomped on him.

"Stop it, all of you!"

"stop!"

Patroclus's voice and Avimus's voice appeared together in this space.

Patroclus stepped out, raising his explosive pistol. After exchanging glances with Avimus, he voluntarily put his explosive pistol away.

The two sides entered into a silent understanding.

They put away their weapons, and the soldiers of the Ninth Company leaped down from the platform, walked confidently past the First Legion's terminators, and stood behind Achilles and Patroclus.

The Dawnbringers, led by Achilles, advanced steadily toward the First Legion.

The First Legion did not choose to run either. They laid down all their weapons, relied on each other, and formed a surging and tragic torrent with the help of their armor.

They strode forward without making any excuses or justifications; their steady and reserved demeanor revealed their arrogance and self-respect.

Both sides understood that at this point, it was impossible to say anything about prioritizing the overall situation or that they were on an alien warship.

They all had to pay the price for the dignity of their legion. Since they couldn't respond with guns and cannons, a close-quarters battle was inevitable.

The First Legion has the advantage of the Terminator's armor, while the Dawnbringers have the advantage of numbers.

"Crush them!" Achilles raised his spear high, as if holding a scepter, and pointed it sharply.

The messengers of dawn shouted in unison.

The shouts of "For the Legion, for Glory, for Hector, for the Emperor" varied.

Amidst the chaos and disorder, it reveals the most genuine passion and sincerity.

"Give them a taste of their own medicine." Compared to the fervor of the Dawnbringers, the First Legion was much more reserved. Avimus gripped the hilt of his sword tightly; he was the only warrior in the squad not wearing Terminator armor.

He set his sights on the leader of the opposing group, Achilles.

An unspoken battle has begun.

The two groups clashed.

The final words, spoken by Patroclus, sounded more like a disclaimer: "Don't kill!"

The Terminators held back, while the Astartes became even more unrestrained.

Every Astartes hit in vital areas such as the head or spine by the Terminator will voluntarily withdraw from the battle, pick up a weapon, and guard the surroundings to block other companies and fleeing aliens.

They dodged the Terminator's heavy punches, and as the first Astartes skillfully dodged and climbed onto the Terminator's back, pinning him to the ground, it symbolized that the Terminator was 'killed'.

"If this were a battlefield," Achilles said, brandishing his spear with fierce power.

He repeatedly deflected Avimus's vicious, ruthless, and incredibly cunning attacks.

You will not see tomorrow's sun.

"······"

Avimus was unable to respond, and he found it increasingly difficult to counter Achilles's incredibly swift movements.

His eyes were always fixed on the spearhead, but every time he dodged, the next strike would be faster and more swift.

Especially after the opponent has figured out your stance and moves.

He wanted to curse him with a word of arrogance, and he wanted to mock this guy from the remote planet with his accent using Terran swear words.

However, reality forced Avimus to retreat step by step until his back hit a pillar, leaving him with nowhere to go.

It wasn't until Achilles's musket knocked away his sword and the spearhead was aimed at his eyes that Avimus realized he had already lost.

"I told you, First Legion Skeleton Army, Company Commander Avimus of the Twenty-Second Company." Hector flashed a beautiful gunfight, then put away his gun and looked at the only First Legion Terminator who was still standing and had not yet fallen.

The moment their eyes met, the Terminator abandoned all resistance, allowing the Dawnbringer to engulf him.

"If this were a battlefield."

You will not see tomorrow's sun.
