Chapter 122: Deeper Into The Woods

ROAR!!

Just as the massive jaws of the beast were about to claim his head. Raiden moved his fist instinctively and punched the tiger tightly in the face.

Crack!

The tiger immediately halted in its place. Its massive body went limp within a second.

SCHLUCK!

Raiden pulled back his fist calmly from its face with a wet sound, with three blades of unknown metal gleaming under the sunlight on his fists.

"Keep moving!! Woolie!! Find me the direction with the least amount of activity! I am counting on you." Raiden ran even faster, his every footstep covering the distance of multiple meters, making him look like a blur.

"Woolie!!" Leave it to me, human!!

Woolie stopped in his place and started communicating with nature.

Rumble Rumble!!!!

His calm appearance almost seemed cute, but his presence was anything but that. The skies themselves started to darken as thunder clouds rolled about, making the atmosphere heavier.

Just as the atmosphere rolling off Woolie started to feel stifling to Raiden, his eyes snapped open with clarity.

"Woolie!!" I got the direction!! Follow me!

Woolie burst into the motion, with Raiden in tow.

Raiden started thinking of the solutions as he ran with Woolie. His watch signal was jammed, he had some beast powder on him that drove Terra Beasts into frenzy, and there were multiple unknown people after his head.

"It’s fine, I can do it. I had dealt with worse situations before, and I can do it again." Raiden quickly put Neva on top of his head and tore his shirt open, discarding it on the ground as he moved, his chiselled body and strong muscles on display. Too bad there wasn’t anyone here to appreciate it.

"Neva, can you still smell that sweet scent on me??" Raiden asked in a hurried tone.

Neva waved her limbs for a second as she sniffed the air with her cute nose, before shaking her head, then nodding it once again.

"Sha Sha!!" I can still smell it, Rai Rai, it’s a little faint now!

Raiden nodded his head without surprise. If this was the trap set by Bai Zang, it wouldn’t just come apart after he took off his t-shirt.

"Awooo/Roar/Howl/Skree!!"

All kinds of sounds and howls from Terra Beasts were heard. They kept emerging one after another from the jungle, all of them targeting Raiden. Seeing this, Woolie slowed down a little, taking care of them one after another.

Raiden wanted to move faster, but the hindrance from all kinds of Terra Beasts was constant as they appeared from all sides, targeting him. Some of them even slipped past Woolie’s defence, appearing directly behind Raiden, forcing him to fight them by himself.

It was a good thing that he exchanged his alliance points for the gloves and the movement manual because without them, he would have died long ago.

"Sha Sha!!"

Seeing so many Terra Beasts attack Raiden, Neva started to get angry as a few light swords appeared overhead.

"Neva no!! You can’t attack right now. Save your energy for later, okay? You are our trump card. You can’t expose our abilities." Raiden stopped her with a shout, causing her to pout as he dodged the grab from a vulture-like Terra Beast, before punching straight through its skull, killing it on the spot.

By now, Raiden had almost killed a hundred beasts by his hand, while Woolie had taken care of almost ten times more Terra Beasts by himself. Such a long fight had taken its toll on his body as he started to heave a little while following Woolie, who was clearing all the obstacles in his way like a bulldozer.

"Woo!!" Woolie had coated himself in a violet thunder as he rushed headfirst into anything that came in his way, turning them into paste or charred remains, clearing the way ahead for Raiden.

But Raiden wasn’t able to notice any of it. The heat had taken its toll on him as he started to see blur, and the sweet calling of sleep seemed to edge closer than ever before. He moved his body on instinct alone, following Woolie as his consciousness grew blurrier and blurrier.

"The brat is near us!! I can smell his fear!! Keep tracking him, boys!! His bounty is ours!!"

"Yeah!!!"

Hearing that cheer from behind him snapped Raiden out of his state as he regained focus once again.

"Fuck, they caught up!! I need to move faster, even faster." Raiden calculated all the possible paths he could take, but the Terra Beasts showed no signs of stopping, making their progress in getting away come to a halt.

He could hear the barking sounds of dogs as a chaotic symphony of footsteps made their way towards him, sending his brain into overdrive.

’Think, Raiden, think, how can you escape from here. Or do I really need to escape?? Should I just hide and wait for an ambush?? No, that won’t work. From the sounds of it, the group is too big, and their power level remains unknown. Too risky, but what else can I do?!’

Woolie had stopped charging ahead as he appeared in front of Raiden, staring directly at him with disdain on his face.

"Woolie Woo Wool!!" What are you afraid of, human!! If we can’t escape, then we fight!! As long as I am here, nobody will be able to touch you!!

Hearing both his Terra Beasts speak, a lot of the anxiety that he was feeling melted away. They were right. Since he couldn’t run from his pursuers, he would stay here and fight. These fearless kids had more confidence than he did.

"You guys are right! Since we can’t run, let’s make them run from us! It’s not decided yet who the real hunter and the real prey are." Raiden spoke in confidence, making the other two cheer in jubilation.

Woolie’s body started to flash with violet thunder, as the ground around him started to crack while Neva’s body started shining a mix of pink and golden, giving off a sacred yet dangerous feel.

Raiden also took a fighting stance, his claws extended from his gloves as he narrowed his eyes in wait.

The chaotic sound of footsteps drew closer and closer, as all three of them braced themselves.

"Aha!! Found you!!"

"Attack!!!"

"Woolie/Sha!!!"
