Chapter 425: Crazy Reporter
Chapter 425: Crazy Reporter
The news playing on the TV was nothing out of the ordinary. A reporter was interviewing a homeless man on the street, then the broadcast cut to another reporter covering a suburban development site.
It was all trivial content—at least, nothing that interested Blaine. He had long grown used to news filled with celebrity gossip and petty incidents. Now, he was simply waiting—waiting for something worth his attention.
Because Blaine had suddenly remembered what Tony was planning to do at tomorrow's press conference. It seemed to involve some kind of Stark Industries equipment. Of course, that wasn't what Blaine cared about. Besides, the press conference was tomorrow. Turning on the TV now clearly wasn't for that.
Somewhere outside Brooklyn, New York, Happy was directing a group of workers dressed in Stark Industries uniforms. They were loading cargo onto a large transport plane parked nearby. Most likely, it was the equipment Tony intended to unveil at the press conference—new technology, new armor. It certainly fit Tony's style.
These shipments were Avengers-level equipment—high-value, high-performance, and incredibly rare. Their importance was obvious.
However, while making a phone call, Happy left the site. From the brief snippets of conversation, it sounded like he wouldn't be escorting the cargo himself.
Whatever Tony was thinking, this decision was questionable. Such valuable cargo, yet no proper escort? It seemed like he was relying too much on Stark Industries' reputation—or on the name of Iron Man itself—believing it alone was enough to deter anyone. But Tony wasn't a Bounty Hunter. He didn't carry that same level of intimidation.
Sure enough, in a rundown building in Queens, the Vulture was gathering his crew.
At the same time, his thoughts were clearly focused on the equipment aboard Tony's transport plane.
Meanwhile, after being threatened by his "future father-in-law," little Spider-Man thought things through carefully. On one side was the girl he liked; on the other was her father—a dangerous villain.
Caught between the two, he struggled with the decision.
But after some inner turmoil, little Spider-Man made up his mind. He put on his original suit—though calling it a "battle suit" was a stretch. It was little more than simple fabric, not even fully form-fitting. At best, it was just a basic costume.
Back at Blaine's place, he sat on the sofa, holding a steaming cup of milk in one hand, watching the TV as the news continued to play.
Then, at a certain moment—
The screen flickered, buzzing briefly, before switching to another live segment.
The suburban reporter was still talking about a negligent construction company at an unfinished building site. But the next second, something appeared in the sky behind them—
No, not something.
Someone.
A figure resembling a massive bird.
That's right—it was the Vulture.
Realizing something major was happening, the reporter quickly shifted topics with a few hurried words, then rushed after the figure with the camera crew.
You know, in the American news industry, a reporter doesn't rise through popularity alone, but through performance. The more exclusive and attention-grabbing your news is, the higher your visibility—and naturally, your status rises with it.
This reporter's professionalism allowed him to sense a major story immediately. From the way he rushed his team forward while reporting, it was clear how desperate he was to break the story first, secure his position, and earn a promotion.
Thanks to this reporter's first-hand coverage, Blaine was now comfortably enjoying the show from home.
On the TV screen, the first thing that came into view was a crashed Stark Industries transport plane.
The moment the reporter realized it involved Stark and Tony, his excitement skyrocketed. He even urged his team to move closer without hesitation.
"Viewers—viewers—"
"Ladies and gentlemen—"
"Tonight, something unbelievable has happened in Queens—!"
"Whirring—whirring—"
"What you're seeing right now is a Stark Industries transport aircraft!"
"Yes—that's right—"
"Belonging to Mr. Tony himself—Iron Man!"
"So who would dare to rob a superhero?"
"And will Mr. Iron Man arrive—?"
"Whirring—whirring—"
"Let's wait and see!"
"Stay tuned—don't change the channel!"
"Follow our live report—!"
The reporter rushed forward the moment he got out of the car, not even stopping to catch his breath.
Seeing this, even Blaine had to admire the professionalism of the industry. Charging straight toward danger without hesitation—it wasn't something just anyone could do.
However, it seemed they had arrived a bit late.
Because the Vulture had already begun.
On the transport plane filled with Avengers-level equipment, and without any protection from Tony, the Vulture and his crew had easily dealt with everyone onboard—including the flight crew.
As the group busily moved the equipment, a black figure suddenly dropped from the sky and slammed directly into one of the cargo crates.
Blaine took a closer look.
It was little Spider-Man.
Perhaps the Vulture's crew hadn't noticed the reporters, or simply didn't care. Either way, Blaine had a clear, uninterrupted view of everything on the screen.
However, little Spider-Man didn't look to be in good condition. It seemed he had already gone through a brutal fight—his clothes were torn and tattered, and even patches of his skin were exposed.
He must have struggled internally, weighing right and wrong. And once his sense of justice tipped the scale, he put on this simple suit, tracked down the Vulture's hideout, and fought him head-on.
The result was what Blaine was seeing now.
Without the advanced suit, little Spider-Man had proven Tony's words true—without it, he was still inexperienced. Against the Vulture, he had clearly taken a beating.
Of course, Blaine understood him well. Like himself, once little Spider-Man set his mind on something, he wouldn't give up until the very end.
And so, the scene unfolding on the news made perfect sense.
Watching little Spider-Man and the Vulture clash once again, Blaine found himself just as engrossed as the reporters on screen.
