Chapter 441: I Fell for Big Brother at First Sight
With a deafening "bang," Evelyn’s eyes widened as she saw Logan Shaw’s dark brows suddenly knit together. Her heart leaped to her throat.
Soon after, the police rushed forward to pursue, and the gunshots rang in Evelyn’s ears. She instinctively covered her ears, hesitated for a moment, and then extended her hands to cover Logan Shaw’s ears.
She gave him a sweet smile, expressing her gratitude for saving her.
Logan Shaw gazed at Evelyn, his eyes filled with deep emotion, guilt, unease, obsession, and joy—all these feelings combined. The corners of his mouth slowly curved into a faint smile.
As the gunshots gradually faded away, Evelyn withdrew her hands and quietly asked, "Is it safe now! Are you alright?"
"I’m fine." Logan Shaw’s smile deepened, "Are you hurt anywhere?"
"You protected me so well, I won’t get hurt at all!" Evelyn responded cheerfully, "Let’s go! Let’s quickly leave this frightening place!"
As she spoke, her eyes still brimmed with intense fear.
In such a short period, she felt as though she had narrowly escaped the clutches of death multiple times.
So close!
She’s fine now, without injuries!
Logan Shaw nodded, taking steps forward.
Evelyn, however, clearly noticed that Logan Shaw’s hands holding her were trembling, and his steps lacked the agility and steadiness from before.
Unease welled up in her heart, not understanding what was wrong with Logan Shaw.
Amidst the chaos of the gunshots earlier, when he suddenly turned her around, could it be that he was shot?
Her gaze tightened with fear, and before Evelyn could speak, a police officer rushed over, urgently saying, "Mr. Lockwood, you’re shot! Quickly get on the ambulance, go to the hospital!"
Evelyn couldn’t believe it, staring at Logan Shaw, she reached out to touch his back, and her hand was stained red with fresh blood.
Tears fell uncontrollably, and she immediately got off of Logan Shaw, the ground was marked with shocking bloodstains, and looking at his back, holes were punched through his black suit, currently bleeding outside.
"No!" Evelyn cried out in grief, "Uncle, what’s wrong with you? Didn’t you say you were fine? How could you be shot? I don’t want you to die, don’t you get hurt!"
"I’m fine." Logan Shaw replied softly, "Don’t be afraid, once we get to the hospital and the doctor removes the bullet, I’ll be alright."
"Why didn’t you say anything?" Evelyn shook her head, crying, "I can walk on my own. Uncle, to the hospital, we must hurry to the hospital!"
"Doesn’t it hurt when you walk?" Logan Shaw’s voice was very faint, his gaze at Evelyn filled with deep affection, "It’s my fault, I shouldn’t have been so cruel to you."
Pausing for a moment, Logan Shaw continued, "I just... don’t want you to be so good to Logan Shaw every time."
"No!" Evelyn held Logan Shaw, hurriedly explained, "All those things I said were to deceive you! I haven’t fallen for Logan Shaw at all! I mistook him for someone else! L misled me to believe Logan Shaw was the older brother who adopted me back then, and I have... a, a crush."
Logan Shaw’s gaze darkened upon hearing Evelyn’s words, suddenly unsure of what to do.
Evelyn liked the older brother?
They’ve only met once!
Back then, she was only six years old!
This girl, is she too precocious?
"I’m just friends with Logan Shaw, really just friends!" Evelyn said urgently, "Besides, about the older brother, it seems... it seems I also..."
Evelyn bit her thin lip, finding it difficult to say some words aloud.
"Seems what?" Logan Shaw asked.
