Chapter 548 He's my brother
Chapter 548 He's my brother
Hearing the chaotic sounds, Ace turned to look at the center of the commotion. His gaze passed over the fallen female staff members and contestants, finally landing on a short boy wearing a golden helmet, heavy armor, and carrying a longsword and shield. Ace shook his head helplessly. How was this kid supposed to fight dressed like that?
"Look, that's Cavendish! The pirate prince, how is he still alive?"
"What a beautiful sight!"
"Sir! You can't dress like that. There's a weight limit to the amount of armor you can wear."
Luffy's attention was completely focused on his gleaming armor, and he paid no attention to Cavendish's words. He walked straight to the weighing platform where the staff recorded the entry.
"You're already overweight."
"Ugh!" Luffy exclaimed in disappointment, dejectedly taking off his armor. He couldn't even wear it on the field; this armor was so cool!
"Didn't I just tell you! Come here right now!" Cavendish shouted angrily at Luffy, who was ignoring him.
"How can you fight wearing such bulky armor?" Ace scolded Luffy, looking at his armor, but still praised his brother, "But it looks cool."
"Right! Ace, you think it's cool too!?" Luffy became excited and was no longer frustrated about having to take off his armor.
"Ace!?" everyone exclaimed. "Could it be that Fire Fist Ace is also...?"
Ace tapped Luffy's helmeted head with his finger. "It's Ace."
"Oh, it's Aisie! His pronunciation is so bad, we thought Fire Fist Ace had arrived!"
The other members in the preparation room breathed a sigh of relief.
"Hey you guys, can you please stop ignoring me!" Cavendish said, looking at the two middle-aged men who were talking to themselves.
"Cabbage, what do you want with us?"
"Cabbage?" Ace chuckled. The name "cabbage" was absolutely hilarious.
"I just saw it, you know. How did you take care of that big guy?" Cavendish didn't seem to care about the nickname Luffy had given him, casually chewing on a bright red rose petal. "Who exactly are you?"
"My name is Luffy, and I'm the man who will become the Pirate King," Luffy replied without hesitation, casually taking off the cloak from his shoulders. Ace had already given up on correcting Luffy.
"Huh? Lu..."
The other observers tensed up immediately upon hearing the name, and then, seeing the bright "Lucy" written on Luffy's back as he pulled off his cloak, one of the more aggressive observers angrily threw his shield at Luffy, shouting, "Isn't that 'Lucy' written on it?!"
Ace caught the shield, crushed it, and revealed his gloomy silver-gray eyes. "He's my brother. I advise you not to lay a hand on him."
The players who had been observing were instantly stunned by that look, and the rest room fell into an unprecedented silence.
Cavendish broke the silence, chewing on a rose petal. "So you two are brothers. Your behavior is just like that... Fire Fist Ace who goes around bragging that Straw Hat Luffy is his brother. Your names are even similar..."
Cavendish looked at Ace and Luffy suspiciously, but the two of them had long since stopped listening to him and had run to the staff to ask when they would start their performance. They ignored him. Cavendish chewed on the rose in his hand angrily.
"Entry to Area A is about to begin!"
"Oh, I'm in Area A!" Ace exclaimed, realizing what the staff member meant. "Then it's time to go on stage."
"I'm from Sector C!" Luffy waved to Ace with a grin. "I'll be cheering you on, Ace!"
"I'll be back soon," Ace said with a smile, turning to follow the staff into the venue.
Go Ace!
"It's Ace!" The contestants in the rest room finally couldn't help but correct him after Ace left. The mere mention of the name immediately conjured up images of Fire Fist Ace, and an uncontrollable sense of dread crept into their hearts. "Don't pronounce it so unclearly! You keep making us think Fire Fist Ace is here too!!"
“Your brother is really fierce,” Cavendish said, watching Ace’s departing figure.
"He used to be, but now Ace is much better," Luffy chuckled. "He's a very gentle older brother."
“You really should pronounce it more clearly.” Cavendish stuffed the remaining rose into his mouth and chewed as he said, “Every time you call that name, I think you’re Straw Hat Luffy, Ace’s brother. If you really were Straw Hat Luffy, I would have killed you by now.”
Luffy looked at the cabbage with a puzzled expression.
"I entered the New World three years ago... I debuted as a handsome newcomer with a bounty of over 200 million, and the whole New World was moved by me. The newspapers reported on me for days on end... Even my personal photo book called 'Wanted Poster' was completely snapped up by women..." Cavendish was immersed in his moment of glory, then suddenly remembered something, his face twisted, and he shouted at Luffy.
"But what actually happened? All of this was ruined by the Impel Down escape that Portgas D. Ace instigated and the graffiti attack on Marine Headquarters! And those newly promoted rookies who escaped afterward were actually called the most vicious generation and ruined everything!"
"Especially that Straw Hat Luffy who's in charge! These guys have pulled off several big heists in a flash, and because of them, the reporters have stopped paying attention to me! So I'm going to wipe out all these annoying juniors, leaving no one alive!!"
"This must be what they call being petty..." Luffy remarked after hearing Cavendish's words, then ignored the strange guy and went back to weighing himself.
"Once I win this Devil Fruit in this tournament, even you will never dare to ignore me like this again!" Cavendish shouted angrily at Luffy, who had already left.
"So I still end up looking like this old man." After weighing himself, Luffy, wearing only his helmet and shield and cloak, looked at the bronze statue standing in the center and said.
Are you interested in him too?
"Who is it?" Luffy looked in the direction of the voice in confusion, and a pink-haired girl wearing a helmet and carrying a shield and a longsword appeared in front of him.
“My name is Rebecca, and I’m a gladiator. Thank you for your help. I hate Spartans.”
"Oh, no need to thank me."
“This is the most perplexing statue in Dressrosa.” Rebecca looked at the bronze statue in front of her with a gentle expression. “Was the gladiator Cyrus real or a fictional character? When did this statue appear here? All we know about him are these inscriptions on the bottom of the statue.”
