Chapter 1765 Just Follow the Rules
Chapter 1765 Just Follow the Rules
Although Jiang Churan, who was in the passenger seat, had no intention of listening to Liang Hui's report, these words still reached her ears.
Jiang Churan's slightly lazy smile instantly froze on her face.
Her slender fingers unconsciously clenched the hem of her clothes, her knuckles turning slightly white.
Those almond-shaped eyes, which were always moist, were wide open, revealing an incredulous astonishment.
"Dead...dead?" she repeated softly, her voice trembling slightly.
Although she didn't like those arrogant foreign drivers, hearing such news still made her heart skip a beat.
Compared to her surprise, Jiang Cheng appeared much calmer, merely raising an eyebrow and feigning astonishment: "All dead?"
Liang Hui continued his report calmly:
"Yes, Young Master Jiang, two of them were still breathing when they arrived, but they died on the way to the hospital..."
"Wow, that really is a stroke of luck..."
Upon hearing this, Liang Hui lowered his head and remained silent after Jiang Cheng finished speaking.
After thinking for a moment, he said to Jiang Cheng, "Young Master Jiang, may I speak to you in private?"
Jiang Cheng chuckled upon hearing this, casually closed the car door, and leaned against the sleek door of the Bugatti.
"Old Liang, what's going on? Why are you being so hesitant?"
Jiang Cheng naturally trusted Liang Hui, after all, they were on his own side.
However, even if it's someone on his own side, Jiang Cheng wouldn't reveal any such unnecessary exposure in front of him.
Aside from the people assigned by the system, Jiang Cheng trusted himself the most.
My father once said that if a person wants to remain invincible, he must hold back some things from those around him.
Liang Hui bowed slightly. This man, who was the undisputed leader in the security department, maintained just the right amount of respect in front of Jiang Cheng. He took a half step forward and lowered his voice even further: "Young Master Jiang, the driving recorder data of the vehicles involved at the scene has been taken over by our relevant departments immediately. You can rest assured about everything afterward. We will handle it properly and there will be no unnecessary trouble."
The air suddenly became quiet.
Jiang Cheng didn't speak, but just stared quietly at Liang Hui.
Those eyes, which usually carried a hint of nonchalance, were now so deep they were startling.
He just stared at Liang Hui like that, with a faint smile on his lips, but his gaze seemed to penetrate people's hearts.
Being stared at like that by Jiang Cheng suddenly made Liang Hui feel a little suffocated by the oppressive force of Jiang Cheng sitting like a god.
He knew Jiang Cheng's identity, and therefore also knew that Jiang Cheng was usually quite low-key in public.
After all, apart from his security guards, probably not many people knew his identity.
But Liang Hui really didn't expect that a young man of Jiang Cheng's age would have such a strong aura when he frowned.
Liang Hui felt an invisible pressure coming at him.
He had weathered countless storms and faced all sorts of formidable figures, but under Jiang Cheng's gaze, he found it difficult to breathe.
Fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, but he dared not wipe them away, and could only maintain a slightly bowed posture as he waited.
A few seconds later, Jiang Cheng suddenly chuckled and reached out to pat Liang Hui on the shoulder.
The movement was very light, yet it made Liang Hui freeze.
“Old Liang,” Jiang Cheng’s tone remained relaxed, as if he were joking casually, “what do you mean by that? Why did you come all this way to tell me this? It’s like this has nothing to do with me.”
These words, spoken casually, sent a chill down Liang Hui's spine. He immediately sensed the subtle warning in them—a reminder that some lines shouldn't be crossed, and some questions shouldn't be asked.
Liang Hui quickly bent down even lower, his tone becoming even more cautious: "No, no! Young Master Jiang, please don't misunderstand! I absolutely didn't mean that!" He paused, carefully choosing his words, "It's just... just our duty. We're just making a routine report to you about major events that happen near your usual area, to keep you informed. We have no other intentions!"
Jiang Cheng straightened up with satisfaction, reverting to his lazy and casual demeanor: "Alright, I understand. Just follow the rules."
He turned around and opened the car door. Before getting into the driver's seat, he seemed to remember something, turned back and smiled at Liang Hui: "Thank you for your hard work, Lao Liang."
The smile was gentle and appropriate, as if the suffocating sense of oppression from just moments before had never existed.
Liang Hui stood there, watching the Bugatti slowly drive away, before finally letting out a long sigh of relief and wiping the cold sweat from his forehead.
But he knew in his heart that this young master Jiang was far more unfathomable than he had imagined.
Koenigsegg once again became a phantom in the night, smoothly merging into the traffic.
The carriage was isolated from the outside noise, with only the deep breathing of the engine and a faint fragrance remaining.
Jiang Churan leaned back in the expensive leather seat, her gaze fixed on the neon lights flashing past the window, her eyes somewhat unfocused.
Jerry's arrogant and domineering face flashed through my mind, as did the conflict on the track, Jiang Cheng's calm yet chilling eyes, and the tragic multi-car collision at the end...
Jiang Churan couldn't help but steal a glance at Jiang Cheng in the driver's seat.
At this moment, Jiang Cheng was focused on the road ahead, his profile appearing particularly cold and stern in the flickering light and shadow.
But the fingers resting on the steering wheel tapped lightly to the rhythm of the car's music, as if everything that had just happened was just an insignificant interlude.
Jiang Churan hesitated for a moment, then finally asked softly, with a hint of barely perceptible probing and concern: "...Are you alright?"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Cheng turned his head and glanced at her quickly, a faint smile playing on his lips. His tone was casual yet certain: "What could possibly be wrong?"
It was a very simple sentence, without even directly answering any questions.
But the calmness and certainty in his tone had a strange magic that instantly soothed the surging doubts and uncertainties in Jiang Churan's heart.
Yeah, what could possibly happen?
Whether something happened or nothing happened, to him it was all "nothing happened".
Looking at his calm and composed profile, Jiang Churan suddenly felt that her previous wild thoughts were somewhat ridiculous.
The lingering chill in my heart quietly dissipated, replaced by an indescribable sense of security, and a complex mix of fear and attraction arising from glimpsing just the tip of the iceberg.
She let out a soft breath, a gentle smile returning to her face. She shook her head, her tone becoming lighter: "Yes, it's good that you're alright."
The Mind Perception skill could sense Jiang Churan's faint fear, but it was mostly out of concern for Jiang Cheng.
Jiang Cheng didn't think much about Jiang Churan's fear; she was a normal person.
As the saying goes, serving a ruler is like serving a tiger; isn't it normal to be afraid?
But besides fear, there was clearly more worry, and that's enough.
Soon, the roar of the night grew louder as it approached, like a black beast that had broken into the urban jungle, and finally came to a steady stop in front of the brightly lit entrance of the "Maze" bar.
