Chapter 602 - 573: Zane Forrester Gets Beaten Up
Chapter 602 - 573: Zane Forrester Gets Beaten Up
(Oct 2019 extra Chapter 1)The white BMW slowly drove into the parking space, and Sylvia Langley, wearing a cinched black trench coat and ten-centimeter stilettos that revealed a pair of slender, fair calves, elegantly got out of the car.
She had applied a bit of makeup, and her complexion looked quite good. Her hair was styled in large black waves, sunglasses resting atop her head like a headband. Her entire appearance seemed young, radiant, and captivating, hardly showing her true age of sixty—at most, she looked forty. Sienna Thornton was envious of her beauty, figure, and elegance.
Sylvia Langley got out from the driver’s seat, whereas the person in the passenger seat hadn’t moved yet. She walked over, opened the passenger door, and suddenly changed her expression, sharply shouting, "What are you dawdling for? Get out!" After speaking, she took a step back, put her hands on her hips, and slightly raised her chin to look at Zane Forrester, who was sitting in the passenger seat with his head lowered as he got out of the car.
Seeing his son come, Old Master Forrester greeted him with excitement, "Elliot, where have you come from?"
Zane Forrester turned his face away, refusing to be seen, and Old Master Forrester proceeded to forcibly turn his face to look. When he saw him, the old man’s expression suddenly changed, he took a step back in shock, and then loudly exclaimed, "Who beat you up like this? Ah?"
After speaking, he glared at Sylvia Langley, intending to say something, but the words circled in his mouth several times and he ultimately couldn’t bring himself to ask. Still peeved, he stood there, staring at his daughter-in-law for a moment, before saying with strong emotion, "Elliot made a mistake, but you can’t resort to corporal punishment! You’ve beaten a good child into this state; how is he supposed to go to work at the company?"
Sylvia Langley coldly laughed with her hands on her hips, "What work? Last night he already signed an agreement, gifting all his shares to Jules. He has nothing now! What work? He can stay home and bird-watch with you!"
Old Master Forrester was greatly shocked; he regained his wits and, poking his son’s forehead, scolded, "What were you thinking? Huh? Do you want to be useless, is that it?!"
The Forrester Family relatives all gathered around, seeing Old Master Forrester scold the sixty-year-old Zane Forrester like a child, feeling a bit awkward, and began to persuade him one after another.
Old Master Forrester was furious, and didn’t lose out in his scolding to Sylvia Langley, with a few words making the originally downcast Zane Forrester counter with fierce retaliation, raising his head to shout, "Jules has ten uncles lining up to beat me, could I afford not to sign? If I hadn’t signed, you would have been preparing for my funeral this morning!"
His voice was filled with grievance and fury: "Also! If I hadn’t signed, Jules’ mom would be divorcing me! Taking half of my assets to give to another man! I’d rather give it all to Jules now!"
"Then why did you end up with a battered face even after signing?" Old Master Forrester understood, his tone softened, and he stepped forward to touch his son’s face.
Standing to the side, Grandma Forrester saw the injuries on Zane Forrester’s face and let out a scream, instantly tearing up as she looked at Sylvia Langley.
Then the old lady, trembling, walked towards her daughter-in-law, raising her hand, but before the slap could land, it was intercepted by Simon Forrester.
Simon Forrester impatiently took off his sunglasses, casually tucked them into his collar, and frowned, asking Matriarch Forrester, "What do you want to do? Hit my mom?"
Matriarch Forrester stood ramrod straight, slowly turned her face, and looked squarely at her grandson. Educated in the old ways, even the angle at which she turned her head was deliberate.
Her gaze was fierce: "Yes! I shall teach your mother a lesson today! Elliot may have done wrong, but he is still your father! Her husband! To use corporal punishment on her husband, she defies all standards!"
The last three words by Matriarch Forrester were spoken with overwhelming authority.
Simon Forrester was impatient, turned his face and exhaled sharply, shouting, "If my mom doesn’t discipline him, others would! Do you know what kind of trouble he’s caused this time? He almost cost Annie her job! If he doesn’t restrain himself, the entire Forrester Family will suffer along!"
He finished shouting, released Matriarch Forrester’s hand, pointed at all the surrounding Forrester Family relatives: "Everyone with the surname Forrester here will be affected too!"
The Forrester Family relatives present, hearing this, also guessed Simon Forrester’s meaning, aware that Zane Forrester had offended some important figures outside this time, possibly implicating the entire family.
After a moment of curiosity, everyone grew resentful, speaking out: "That’s right, Big Brother, you really need to handle Elliot, if he truly offends someone outside, damaging the Forrester Family, our ancestors’ spirits wouldn’t rest..."
"Enough!" Old Master Forrester shouted, grabbing Zane Forrester and starting to walk.
Sienna Thornton, who had been watching from the sidelines, finally saw clearly: Zane Forrester’s cheekbones were bruised purple and blue, and his lip corner was swollen red, appearing as if he’d been beaten badly last night with deliberate hits to the face.
Sienna Thornton almost burst into laughter.
Zane Forrester was dragged by Old Master Forrester towards the cemetery, and the relatives followed, but Grandma Forrester and Sylvia Langley remained there in a standoff.
Simon Forrester stood guard in front of Sylvia Langley.
Bianca Fordham’s family stood aside, enjoying the spectacle.
Sienna Thornton quietly approached, pulling her wide black trench coat to cover her pregnant belly.
Grandma Forrester still glared at Sylvia Langley, sarcastically mocking: "Hmph, when Elliot came back years ago and said he wanted to marry you, I knew you southern, country folks had no proper manners! I was truly blind to agree to Elliot marrying you back then!"
This time Sylvia Langley had wised up, saying nothing and maintaining silence, perhaps fearing nothing with her son guarding her.
Simon Forrester initially softened his tone to persuade, but later seemed annoyed, and upon seeing most of the Forrester Family relatives had left, he could no longer suppress his irritation, confronting Grandma Forrester: "If you keep making things difficult for my mom, don’t blame me for not acknowledging you as my grandma!"
After speaking, he wrapped an arm around Sylvia Langley, took Sienna Thornton by the hand, and walked away, leaving Matriarch Forrester to Bianca Fordham’s family.
Sienna Thornton turned back to look at Matriarch Forrester’s increasingly pale face, witnessing her true anger for the first time. However, the old lady, educated in traditional ways, even in fury retained a peculiar grace.
There was the feeling she had seen someone like Matriarch Forrester before but couldn’t recall. After a moment, a man’s figure, sneering in a peculiar tone, flashed through her mind.
Yes, she remembered now, previously receiving disdain and occasional mocking from Zane Forrester, whose demeanor bore an uncanny resemblance to that of Grandma Forrester.
.
Inside the small Forrester cemetery, the bruised Zane Forrester was being forced by Old Master Forrester to kowtow and apologize to the Forrester ancestors.
Simon Forrester entered the cemetery with Sienna Thornton and Sylvia Langley, watching Zane Forrester with increasing dissatisfaction, and asked, "Is my father apologizing to the ancestors?"
Old Master Forrester and the kneeling Zane Forrester both turned to look, but didn’t speak.
Simon Forrester advanced, a cool gaze assessing Zane Forrester’s bruised face, and asked, "Did you apologize and kneel to my mom?"
Zane Forrester remained silent.
Simon Forrester raised his voice: "If you don’t apologize and kneel to your betrayed wife, who’s been hurt because of your mess, what’s the point of repenting to ancestors no longer living?"
