Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike

Chapter 644 - 615: Positioning

Chapter 644 - 615: Positioning

As the long Spring Festival holiday approached, Sienna Thornton was busy with work, working overtime for more than half a month. Fortunately, the kids were being taken care of by Sylvia Langley and a nanny.Sylvia Langley had been living at Fenmore Hill for about a month, saying she would stay until Melinda Linton could come over to help.

She was modern in her thinking and shared heartfelt conversations with Sienna Thornton, who often found a mental resonance with her. Compared to her own traditional-minded and tradition-encouraging mother, Melinda Linton, Sienna preferred spending time with Sylvia. Furthermore, Sylvia had distanced herself from the Forrester Family elders, ensuring a closer relationship with her son and daughter-in-law, showing a genuine effort to maintain the family bonds.

A few times, Sienna jokingly suggested to Simon Forrester that if Sylvia continued living at Fenmore Hill to help look after the kids, it wouldn’t be a bad idea. Although she was joking, Simon took it seriously and said he would discuss it with Sylvia.

Sienna let it be, as she worried about who would help take care of the kids if Melinda’s health didn’t improve in the next two and a half years...

On a day after the start of spring, Sienna worked late into the evening, returning home at nine o’clock. As she entered the house, she saw Sylvia, in her pajamas, cooking something in the kitchen. Seeing her return, Sylvia happily said, "Annie, you’re back! The snow frogs with rock candy are ready; go take a shower, and I’ll bring it up for you to eat."

Having just stepped in from the cold into the warm house, Sienna’s limbs and face hadn’t warmed up yet. But hearing Sylvia’s words made her heart instantly warm.

Sienna smiled politely, "It’s okay, I’ll eat after I shower, no need to bring it up."

"Okay, then go shower quickly."

As Sienna untied her scarf and coat while heading upstairs, she entered her bedroom where the child was asleep in the crib. Finding the room empty, she took her coat to the cloakroom where Simon was sitting, talking on the phone.

She silently walked over and mouthed the words: Who is it?

Simon mouthed back: My dad.

Sienna pursed her lips, nodded, hung up her coat, and went to shower.

When she came out of the shower, Simon had already returned to their room and was sitting by the window on the chaise longue reading a book.

Watching his long, white, and well-defined fingers turn the pages gently, Sienna felt a stir in her heart and went over to sit beside him. He switched the book to his other hand, pulled her into his arms, and kissed her forehead.

"What did your dad say on the call?" she asked.

Instead of answering, he asked her, "Did you see anything on my mom’s social media?"

She shook her head, "No, what did your mom post?"

He sighed and didn’t feel like explaining.

Seeing him like that, Sienna didn’t press further. She got up to the dressing table to get her phone. Before opening WeChat, she glanced at Simon and smiled, "I haven’t checked social media today, been busy all day..."

After seeing what Sylvia had posted, her smile disappeared.

At that moment, Simon said calmly, "My dad wants us to fire the nanny."

Hearing this, Sienna instantly became furious, "For what? The nanny is taking good care of the kids, and just because she took a selfie with your mom, your dad got jealous and wants to meddle in our family affairs?"

Simon glanced awkwardly at the slightly ajar door, "Keep your voice down."

Sienna lowered her voice, "I won’t agree with that!"

"But what if my mom does have something going on with the nanny?"

Knowing Sylvia, Sienna believed Sylvia would never get involved with someone younger than her own son, like Zane Forrester in the United States, who was being unfaithful, leading to such suspicions among ordinary people.

Sienna put away her phone and placed it in her robe’s pocket.

"Don’t you know your own mom?" She didn’t want to waste time on this issue, "If your dad is not at ease, let him talk to your mom himself, instead of instantly demanding concessions from me and the kids."

Saying that, she went downstairs for a late-night snack.

Downstairs, Sylvia was in the living room, masking her face and watching TV.

Sienna sat down at the kitchen counter, eating the snow frog with rock candy and watching a variety show with Sylvia.

As they watched, Sylvia suddenly removed her face mask, ran to sit across from Sienna, and said with a smile, "Annie, there’s something I want to discuss with you and Jules."

"Hmm?"

"Over the past month, I found myself getting along quite well with Shepherd, and I’m thinking of acknowledging him as my godson."

Shepherd was the nanny’s name.

Having just seen Sylvia’s intimate cheek-to-cheek selfie with Shepherd, Sienna wasn’t surprised at Sylvia’s suggestion to make Shepherd her godson.

But she couldn’t help feeling awkward, "Do you think your son will agree to that?"

Sylvia chuckled, resting her chin in her hands, "That’s why I’m asking you to help persuade him." Implying, even as a mother, she knew Simon wouldn’t agree to this.

Sienna felt troubled, finding it nearly impossible to convince him based on her understanding of Simon.

As expected, when she returned and brought it up with Simon, he immediately tossed off the covers, about to get out of bed, clearly intending to go downstairs and lecture Sylvia.

Sienna pulled him back, "Why are you so worked up? If you don’t agree, can you at least wait until the morning? Who are you planning to argue with in the middle of the night?"

Simon calmed down, slowly settled back in bed, frowned, and said nothing.

Sienna swallowed, unsure how to approach this, but she had promised Sylvia she’d try to persuade Simon.

After a moment’s hesitation, she cautiously advised, "Actually, I understand your mom’s feelings. You were busy with work before and rarely spent time with her. Now, having a family and kids, you’re even busier, needing her help with the kids worry; let alone keeping her company. She’s someone who loves going out, being flamboyant, and will inevitably feel lonely at times, especially when your dad is unfaithful, and you’re busy with your family, transforming her into a solitary elder. Meeting a likable junior and wanting to acknowledge him as a godson to have someone by her side and to earn a bit of warmth doesn’t seem wrong."

Thinking she’d gain Simon’s sympathy with these words, it backfired. He retorted sharply, "At her age, needing a young man under thirty to keep her company? If she’s not embarrassed, I am! Moreover, an old lady should stay home with her grandkids and help the young ones, what’s the point of going out all the time?"

"So that’s your idea of what an old lady’s role should be?" Sienna got emotional too, "If you’re planning for your mom like this, then what about me? Ah? When I’m your mom’s age, I can’t even go out? By your standards, once I’m older, I must stay home to care for the young ones and do housework. Fine, then I ask you, how do you plan to arrange your life when you’re older? Ah? Be like your dad, running off abroad to mess around with women?"

Sienna’s words came out in a rapid string without a pause.

Simon stared at her, dazed, "We were talking about my mom, how did it turn into a discussion about us?"
