Chapter 37 Gangster King Kong
Chapter 37 Gangster King Kong
"Sir, we'll reach the target area in three minutes." The pilot's voice carried a hint of tension. "The orc firepower near Mine No. 9 is unusually heavy; we probably won't be able to land directly at the entrance."
Upon hearing the report, Li Wei frowned. Looking through the porthole at the densely packed orcs covering the mountain, he knew that what the pilot said was true.
He pondered for a moment, then gave the order in a deep voice into the communicator:
"All Thousand Warriors, prepare to leap from the sky, activate your psionic shields."
"Yes, sir!"
The voices of thousands of soldiers responding in unison rang out on the communication channel.
The Stormhawks abruptly lowered their altitude, whistling as they sped across the ochre-red wasteland, heading straight for a black mountain range occupied by orcs.
On the mountain range, countless orcs saw the crimson storm eagle formation in mid-air and roared as they raised all kinds of guns and cannons to fire wildly.
In an instant, a Stormhawk was hit and, before it even reached the drop zone, it staggered and plummeted to the ground, trailing billowing black smoke.
After reaching the Stormhawk's minimum safe drop altitude.
Li Wei was the first to open the hatch of the lead Stormhawk, and looking down at the densely packed orcs below, he shouted into his wrist communicator:
"All Thousand Warriors, parachute in! Rescue the Archmage!"
As Li Wei gave the order, all the Stormhawk hatches opened.
Li Wei was the first to leap down, followed closely by the thousand warriors.
As they fell, the Thousand Sons warriors waved their psionic staffs in mid-air, unfurling pale blue psionic shields that resembled blue lotuses blooming amidst the smoke of battle.
Although the orcs' artillery fire was intense, their low-altitude descent speed was extremely fast, and not many of the Thousand Sons warriors suffered casualties.
The first Thousand Warriors to land hadn't even gotten their footing when they were struck head-on by the surging tide of orcs, like hitting a rushing green torrent.
Li Wei knelt down on one knee to cushion the impact of his landing, and when he looked up, he saw countless orcs roaring as they fought fiercely against the Thousand Sons warriors who had just landed.
Just as he was about to give the order, three orc boys wielding machetes rushed towards him.
Li Wei reluctantly suppressed his desire to command. He needed to clear out the enemy in front of him before he could free up his hands to direct his troops to advance towards Mine No. 9.
He swung his Abyss Battle Axe, cleaving the foremost orc in two with a single blow. Then, a purple-gold psionic fireball shot from his left hand, blasting the two orcs behind him to smithereens and temporarily clearing a space.
Seeing that he had successfully driven back the orcs, he immediately used his wrist communicator to give instructions:
"Ariman, as planned, lead your men to set up a defensive line outside the mine entrance to block any further orc reinforcements. I will lead a group of Thousand Sons warriors into the mine to meet the Archmage."
"clear."
Ahriman's calm voice rang out on the communication channel.
As soon as Li Wei finished speaking, he swung his giant axe and rescued two Thousand Sons warriors who were being attacked by orcs.
He began to gather the nearby warriors, forming a wedge-shaped battle formation, and then marched in unison toward the dark and deep mine in the distance.
Levi has confirmed that Magnus is deep within that deep mine tunnel.
Because Magnus’s familiar psionic fluctuations were strongest there.
At the same time, he also sensed a powerful WAAAGH energy colliding violently with Magnus.
Magnus and the raging WAAAGH were constantly colliding and tearing at each other, as if they were engaged in a life-or-death struggle.
However, WAAAGH became increasingly violent, while Magnus's psionic energy continued to weaken, clearly indicating that Magnus was at a disadvantage and his life was in imminent danger.
Li Wei was a little anxious, but he remained calm. He needed to regroup the Thousand Sons Army.
He knew that if he rushed into the mine without sufficient troops to share the firepower Magnus was bearing, it would only be a pointless suicide.
"chief."
Kayan came running up, panting. He had just dealt with the orc next to him when he saw Li Wei and hurried over.
"Um!"
Seeing that Kayan's power armor was covered with knife marks and charred bullet holes, but his posture was unusually firm, Li Wei nodded, signaling Kayan to join his team.
Before long, the crimson array of the thousand warriors gained a foothold amidst the green beast tide, dividing the chaotic battlefield into inner and outer sections.
Li Wei led nearly three hundred warriors into the mine entrance. The moment he entered, he glanced back at Aliman, who was directing the battle outside.
At this moment, Ahriman was wielding his enchanted psionic staff. After smashing an orc into a pulp with a heavy hammer, he casually unleashed a psionic lightning bolt, continuously reaping the lives of the orcs that charged at him.
"Ariman..."
A sense of unease crept into Li Wei's heart, but he said nothing and plunged headlong into the dark depths of the mine tunnel.
The warriors of the Thousand Sons ventured deeper into the winding mine tunnels.
The further you go in, the stronger the stench of blood and WAAAGH energy becomes in the air, and the ground is littered with green-skinned orcs whose blood is flowing green and who are already cold.
Judging from the residual psychic energy on them, Li Wei knew it was a torrent of psychic energy unleashed by Magnus in his rage.
Deep within the mine, the deafening sounds of metal clashing and explosions grew clearer as Li Wei and his group approached.
Fortunately, Li Wei did not encounter hordes of greenskins along the way, only scattered orc patrols. His Thousand Sons warriors easily dealt with them without Li Wei having to lift a finger.
They advanced for about another ten minutes.
As Li Wei turned a corner, an enormous underground hall appeared before them, its dome hundreds of meters high, supported by countless thick mineral pillars.
In the center of the hall, an earth-shattering battle was unfolding.
Magnus hovered in mid-air, his body radiating a dazzling red psionic light. His signature scholar's robes were already tattered, and a trace of blood clung to the corner of his mouth, yet he continuously raised his hand, unleashing sharp blue lightning bolts that struck the massive steel figure below.
That mountain-like steel figure was covered in thick, rough armor, which was painted with orc totems and red graffiti.
Its left arm is a giant explosive cannon, and its right arm is a spinning chainsaw axe, full of primal savagery and violence.
This strange steel construct did not flinch in the face of Magnus's psionic attacks.
The instant the blue lightning struck, a thick warp shield suddenly deployed, blocking the deadly psionic lightning.
"Is this Mao Ge King Kong or Gao Ge King Kong?"
Li Wei stared at the grotesque mechanical creation and muttered to himself.
In his previous life, he had bought Orc King Kong as a model for his collection, but now that he only saw one Orc King Kong, he couldn't tell the difference between the two.
But the next second, Li Wei saw Magnus's psionic energy deplete, and he could no longer maintain his levitation posture, staggering and falling downwards from mid-air.
The Orc King Kong also keenly seized this fleeting opening and suddenly fired a bullet from its explosive gun, a bullet the size of an adult's head, roaring as it shot towards the staggering Magnus.
