The resolute warrior brandished his training sword, while the three mechs in front of him were all powered to maximum, causing the steel whips to pierce the air and clash with the sword blades, producing a series of ear-piercing sounds and dazzling sparks.
Three minutes later, three clumps of sparking scrap metal appeared on the ground. One of the soldiers watching whistled a pleasant tune. A ferocious smile appeared on the rough face.
"Well done, brothers of Titus."
A warrior from the Space Wolves stepped forward and extended his hand, seemingly wanting to shake hands with Titus.
Titus did not respond, but simply stared at the other party indifferently.
The wolf's smile grew increasingly ferocious, but Titus knew it meant no harm. He let out a long sigh and grasped the wolf's hand.
It was a very rough hand, covered with calluses and scars, all of which indicated that this hand belonged to a soldier.
A powerful warrior.
Among the onlookers, the blond, handsome man sighed helplessly. Beside him stood a man whose left hand had been replaced with a mechanical arm. In addition, the dark-skinned, muscular man, the silent swordsman like a stubborn rock, and the figure standing motionless in the shadows like a statue, all silently watched the two men shaking hands in the center of the arena, waiting for their next move.
The wolf began to exert force with its paws, its eyes gleaming with excitement. Titus remained silent, but also began to exert force, engaging in a silent contest with its opponent.
"Alright, adults, the competition is over."
The training room door opened, and the judge strode in with steady steps, as if carried by the wind.
The wolf quickly released its grip, muttering a few dissatisfied groans.
The judge glanced at the other man indifferently, who returned a wicked smile. The judge shrugged slightly, then produced a parchment that looked exactly the same as the one that had awakened them.
"The order has been issued. From today onwards, you are officially members of Deathwatch. You will also be grouped into a squad. In the coming period, you will also need to assist me with some necessary tasks."
Those present were not too surprised by the judge's words, after all, this was an outcome they had already anticipated when they awoke.
"Now, I'll give you your first task."
The judge was pleased with the reactions of the death angels she had found. She pulled out another parchment, but instead of a warrant, it was a briefing about the mission.
"The orc forces of the Great Vortex, I need you to break through their blockade, venture deep into their territory, and investigate the evil forces on a planet called Galmek."
-------
The chainsaw sword roared.
The black-clad warriors and their comrades silently advanced their lines, facing an endless tide of orcs. Wave after wave crashed down, each one like the fury of heaven and earth. But the battle line was a miracle forged by the very essence of the earth's inhabitants, an unyielding dam and wall, silently confronting everything that charged towards them.
Limbs and severed arms flew through the air, and crimson blood pooled together, forming a still river.
Some comrades began to collapse from exhaustion, while others roared in anger, but it was all in vain. Facing enemies dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of times their size, unless they were exceptionally powerful, they could only meet their end in bitter defeat once again.
Titus brandished his chainsaw sword, slaughtering all the orcs around him in one fell swoop. He helped up the wolf that had been accidentally knocked to the ground, picked up its battle axe, and handed it to it.
"Thank you."
The wolf's voice was deep, but the emotions it conveyed were very genuine.
Titus nodded, and then he and the other man stood back to back, facing the orcs who surrounded them.
It was at this moment that a tremendous sound, like the roar of a mountain, began to echo across the battlefield. An orc, as large as a fearless warrior, appeared at the edge of the battlefield. From his size and the reactions of the other orcs, Titus could immediately recognize him as the orc war leader they had been waiting for.
"I'll take care of him."
"I'll clear the way for you."
"That's what the wolf said," he said with a wild laugh, brandishing his battle axe as he charged into the ranks of the beastmen.
A path was forcibly opened. Without a word of thanks, a black lightning bolt appeared on the battlefield, hurtling towards the orc war leader with unimaginable speed.
-------
"It's really scary."
The wizard looked at the Death Watch squad in front of him, and the power of his psionic energy flowed, turning into an abnormal gravity that pressed the six members of the Death Watch squad firmly to the ground.
"There were clearly only six of you... no, there were over twenty at the beginning. But how did you manage to break through the orcs' tight blockade with just over twenty people?"
No one answered. Every warrior in black power armor was struggling to engage their muscles, trying to break free from their kneeling position.
The wizard must have been bored. He let out a long sigh, then waved his hand. The warrior, whose arms had been modified into mechanical parts, slowly floated up from the spot. Then, all four limbs twisted like pretzels.
Blood began to flow. From this moment on, even if the wizard withdrew the psionic energy from the Iron Hand warrior and left him unattended, he would bleed to death within a minute.
This is undoubtedly a painful way to die.
The soldier did not utter a sound, even though he could clearly feel the blood flowing from his body and his perception of the outside world becoming increasingly blurred, he still maintained that unchanging, indifferent expression.
"Just like your original body."
The wizard chuckled softly.
"The rational man ultimately dies because of his emotions... Ha, Iron Hand, thank you, I've decided to grant you the exact same way of dying as your genetic father."
An invisible psionic blade appeared in the wizard's hand. He swung it, letting it slice through the air, and brought it close to the neck of the warrior who once belonged to the Iron Head.
But the wizard didn't see that, just before he was about to cut off the enemy's head and satisfy his wicked desires, the warrior kneeling on the ground with the "U" symbol on his shoulder armor slowly straightened his back.
By the time the wizard realized what was happening, it was too late for him to retaliate or defend himself.
The slingshot successfully struck the wizard's shoulder blade. Amidst screams of terror and pain, the wizard's arm and staff were thrown through the air in an arc before crashing heavily to the ground.
Using the force of his calves, he leaped off the ground. The combat dagger in his hand gleamed with a sharp, cold light, accurately striking the target's body and exploding under the force of gravity, cleaving the target's armless body in two.
The wizard died, turning into a pool of dissipating energy on the ground. His teammates rose from the ground and surrounded the warrior of the Iron Hand. In the silence, the warrior suddenly wept.
"I really want to see the sky above Medusa again."
Titus knelt beside the warrior, remained silent for a moment, and then slowly began to speak.
"Close your eyes, I will take you home."
“...Tell my teacher that I did not bring shame upon him or the warband.”
Titus nodded, and the Steel Hand closed his eyes. His blood had drained from his body, but a smile appeared on his face.
The dark-skinned warrior approached and silently used his expertise to pluck a gene seed from the corpse of a fallen warrior, placing it into a storage container.
Titus discovered that, in addition to the seeds of the dead warriors, there were four other seeds in the storage container.
"you......."
“Someone has to hold off the enemy. I and the others will be scattered. You have to run to the only real evacuation point and leave this planet from there.”
The dark-skinned warrior said this, then fell silent, finally reaching out and pounding his chest hard.
"Bathed in the flames of war, forged on the anvil of battle."
The other soldiers also came over, and like the dark-skinned warrior, they pounded their chests and uttered their own battle cries filled with blessings.
"By Primarch and Ancestor, for the glory of the Stone and Terra."
"Victory or death."
"For Ruth and the All-Father."
The dark-skinned warrior handed over the storage container, and Titus lowered his head to finally accept it.
The storage container is not heavy, even less than the magazine of a bomb gun.
However, Titus felt his body become much heavier than before.
"Courage and Glory".
He said that at that moment, the wolf stepped forward and punched him on the shoulder with its fist.
"If you ever have the chance to go to Fenris, remember to drink me a glass of mead for me. And the roast meat from Wolf Fang Fortress... once you've tasted it, you'll remember it for the rest of your life."
"I will."
"Well then, farewell. Cousin, and... my brother."

Elena looked at the squad, which had only one member returning, and remained silent for a long time before finally sighing.
"Welcome back, Sergeant Titus."
"Yes, the mission is complete. I've entered the information you needed..."
"Let's not talk about that for now. What reward do you want? You made a great contribution to this mission. As long as you're willing to ask, I and the forces behind me will do everything in our power to fulfill your request."
"........."
Titus remained silent, his resolute face lost in thought, clearly not expecting the judge who had awakened him and his fallen comrades to be so easy to talk to.
“You can take your time to think it over, Sergeant Titus. We are going to the main planet of Badab now, which will take about a week. You can come to me anytime you want to make up your mind, or you can tell me after we arrive on the main planet. However, I will probably be very busy at that time and will not be able to process your request immediately.”
Elena turned around, about to leave, when Titus suddenly called out to her.
"I want to go to Medusa."
"The homeworld of the Steel Hand? A bit troublesome, but no problem."
“And Baal.”
"...The location is a bit far, but I'm fine with it."
"Fenris".
"...Tell me everything else you know so I can discuss it with my forces later."
Titus rattled off the names of more than a dozen planets, which were also the homeworlds of the chapters to which the other members of the Deathwatch squad, excluding himself, once belonged.
Aline's lips twitched slightly. Some of these planets were located at opposite ends of the empire. Even some renowned traveling merchants and naval heroes who claimed to have conquered the void might not have traveled to all of these planets in their entire lives.
Traveling around the human empire? That sounds interesting.
Titus knew his request was somewhat outrageous, but once he had promised, there was no reason not to keep his word.
"I need to think about this request."
"Not a direct refusal?"
"The deal is such that you have given your lives and your loyalty; nothing could be more valuable than these two."
Eleanor looked at Titus with a calm expression, but her eyes held a hint of appreciation.
"What about your own demands? Aren't you going to consider letting me help you contact the Ultra Warriors and restore your lost reputation?"
“No.” Titus shook his head, rejecting the tempting offer. “I still have some things to finish, and I need to complete them before that.”
